1340Gallery 

I worry I may have been scammed. I paid the $30 fee without doing any research and it dawned on me this morning that it was a scam. And now that I’m searching the web, I’m seeing other worried artists. If I submitted to their Instagram for free, then why didn’t they first feature me there and then offer me the magazine deal?

Total scam!

They just spam your accounts with invites to a contest then try to extort money from you, don´t fall for 4 it.

Check the trust pilot review, too many fake 5 stars to balance the real negative reviews they really deserve.

Stay away, you should never pay a gallery to get you art promoted.

Also the "magazine", is just an internet publication, not a physical magazine.

I would very much like to connect with an artist who has work with 1340Art Magazine.
I am very concerned. I only submited low resolution and watermarked images.
Funny thing is I have 2 emails, a bussiness and personal.
The told both emails, using the same IG that the images were low quality and could not be accepted.
Next day, both emails had response saying I moved to the next round. I thought they couldnt accept the work because of the image quality?
It seems the can not decern my pen name even though one just includes the word "boutique".
I kinda want them to stop following my instagram.
Im very protective of my artwork.
I have worked in galleries, reputable, well established, and I know how one gets representation.

Had a good experience with 1340. They were prompt with their communication and easy to work with. They contacted me about showing my work and there was the typical $30 application fee so of course I wanted to make sure I wasn't being scammed before submitting and after snooping around the web a bit I saw they are legit. Also even though I didn't get into their magazine they still offered to show some of my work for free on their blog which was a nice consolation prize. So yes, they are cool by me.

Website is very alluring, however if you look closer there is not a single magazine that is posted, nor a legitimate address that can be searched for this company. They just put a random obscure address on the hopes you dont look into it. If you look up there is also no reputable curator named Caitlyn Tait anywhere to be found online. Very flattering at first, however think about it, an international company from random instagram accounts that have no followers want to help sell your art.. Also an excess of positive reviews on trust pilot I don't buy. This has scam written all over it! Do your research! Oh you want to publish my art but I have to pay to do so?The fees go to the artists? Prove it! Where are all the winners of these supposed magazines? Who is the staff of this supposed reputable organization? Put art1340 magazine into your google search bar and the first thing that pops up is SCAM !

Communication throughout the delivery process was excellent. My pieces came quickly and as advertised.

Seems too good to be true. I've been approached on instagram by no less than ten 1340 'curators' each of whom has thousands of followers but basically no content.

As much as I like my work, o find it hard to believe that a hobby artist with a little over 200 followers would be sooo hotly demanded by a legit company.

Flattery in order to get paid, cynical business model.

scam. they say their like your image and ask for $20 or $30 to submit more images for consideration.

I'm usually uneasy about letting other people publish my work. I have strong personal connection with my outputs and really, really don't like losing my control over their release. Any artist would probably understand (right?). When 1340gallery people contacted me, I have to admit I had my apprehensions, especially given above hang-ups. But, okay, give it a try, right? Happy to say that things have been nothing but great for me working with them and it was well worth every bit of effort put in to be part of this artist collection.

Great way to discover new artists. Also got a subscription to your magazine.

It may not be a scam, but definitely a waste of money. Their website currently has 3,496 paintings listed. That's a lot of unsold paintings and do you think any collector will browse through nearly 4,000 pieces of work? If any artist feels the money is worth it, then by all means feel free to do it, but chances are you're just making the website owners rich. $20 x 5000 (current number of works on their website) images equals $100,000 just for submission to their print magazine. Who knows how much more they're making on putting artists' works on their website.

There is a never ending list of these supposed art magazines promoting desperate artists' works and the only ones making money are these websites, not the artists. I received the same solicitation and I turned down their offer. My advice to all artists is to save your money. You're only making them rich.

This is actually 100% just a scam operation. No legitimate gallery or art publication hunts down artists online, requests to post their work and then follows up asking for money. Is scamming artists what you turned to after your own art career failed ? Also they won't stop sending me emails telling me it's my "last chance."
