Problems with excess charge

The mark of a good car rental company perhaps only shows when things go wrong. I was unlucky enough for someone to reverse into my rental car, although damage was negligible to the rental. The problems began when I returned it. Although Apex declared the car in satisfactory condition, they took the damage deposit from my credit card on the grounds that a third party may claim against Apex (although there is no mention of this in the T&C and the third party admitted liability anyway). I was in a limbo where I couldn't even claim on my own excess insurance.

Apex's admin is chaotic and inefficient. I did get my money back after several weeks and many email exchanges and complaints, but it was hassle I could have done without. The car itself was okay during the hire though it rattled badly.

For the above reasons, I can't recommend this company. Moral is check with whichever hire company you choose exactly what happens in the event of a collision.

Beware

All potential customers for this company should be aware that it is different from the old Everest, which went bust around May 24, and which itself replaced the previous Everest that went bust in 2020. This current company simply purchased the name, not materials or expertise. Needless to say, the new company is not honouring any guarantees issued by the previous incarnation (I am stuck with faulty windows). Beware. I wouldn't be surprised if this one folded too.

If your Everest home improvement project was completed before 24th April 2024, but you are experiencing a warranty issue, then you will need to contact the warranty insurance provider on your contract.

Bust

Now Everest has gone into administration, one's view of the company inevitably changes. Seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction with glazing companies all round, and there are some stinkers out there.

Given I recently had Everest windows installed but now the 10-year guarantee is invalid, I haven't got what I paid for. On top, there is a fault with the windows which will not now get attended to.

Presumably the management knew the company was in trouble when they sold me windows. I thought the salesman was quite pressurising - discount if you sign up today. Perhaps I should have taken that as a warning. Very poor from Everest, or what was Everest. How about the bosses stump up for all the out-of-pocket customers?

Terrible customer service

When I first got my Icebreaker merino base layers I thought they were pretty good, the wool a little rough compared to other makes, but otherwise serviceable.

After a few wears and washes (according to care instructions) the rubberised labels began to go tacky, so much that for a couple of garments the labels stick to your skin, rather uncomfortable. I've also noticed one begin to hole after about a dozen washes.

I contacted customer services who showed limited interest. I suggested they replace one as a compromise, but was told they wouldn't because the same problem might reoccur. Obviously not much faith in their own product. Instead they offered to sell me another at a discount, now unconcerned that the same fault might happen again. I asked for my complaint to be referred to the CEO. Customer Service said no.

So I wrote direct to the CEO instead. I received no reply.

There are other companies selling superior merino base layers who also have much better customer service. I will be spending my money with those in future.

The most incompetent energy supplier…

The most incompetent energy supplier I've ever had to deal with. Its admin is chaotic and billing is a mess.

Almost total reliance on the chat service now. Advisor was pretty good overall, but telephone is much better. No telephones with Callone.

Falling standards

I have gone to Mercedes at Guildford for some years now. Before the company was taken over by Sandown (then Tony Purslow) it was a well run company with high standards of customer service. But it has gone downhill since then, with excessive waiting times and a poor attitude from many of the staff.
