I just wanted to add my debit card. Why do I need to jump through so many hoops?

What went wrong? The same thing that's been going wrong for years. Their billing system is ancient or at least looks and functions that way. They probably love it. But if your a customer trying to pay your bill it's really awkward and clumsy.

Today I wanted to add my debit card. But No! I can't. In order to add my card I have to make a purchase! And it's not a one step thing, it's a complicated five stage slog. I went to the page where it says Ad credit/debit card. Fine but there's no link there. The page says you can add your cards on it but no, you can't. That would really be too easy.

If any other commercial site in the world can have an easy interface, why is it so complicate that they won't provide one? Why? Because every other company know that if they presented their customers with such a complicated interface, the'd probably walk away. They'd be gone. It's probably logical if your a computer programmer or website builder but it's horrible if your just an ordinary Joe blogs trying to build a website or two....

I won't ever add a direct debit because I Simpy don't trust them. But I will add my debit card. But they don't seem to want to accept it.

Please take my advice and go somewhere else for your hosting! Avoid them at all costs. I'd have given them minus five stars but this site insists on at least one star to be given in order to leave a review. They don't even deserve one star. There's a reason the hosting is cheap. It's just run by bots these days. The person who ran the place checked out years ago. Wouldn't be surprised to find out that an AI runs the place.

It seems like I'm not the only person with a problem with their credit/debit card interface. They updated it recently but a child could have done a better job. Well I'm moving as soon as I can.

I've been with them for 13 years and it's become a constant battle now.

And they fail to cancel products. You go in, you set them not to update, and they get changed to renew and you get billed. I had an incident recently where the ssl cert had been set not to renew because I'd closed the business the website was for. so I didn't need it. And they renewed it anyway.
Amazingly they refunded me but it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

And they reply with something like the following stock message reply from Heart Internet.
