From the very moment 50% of total was drafted everything went to hell. First pod was supposed to be delivered between 8-12. Never showed. Numerous calls to zippy (with denial of the logistics company phone number they said they were calling) no call backs no nothing. That evening someone showed up (keeping in mind we now had ONE DAY) to load pod. First thing in the morning we called and cancelled second pod and got email with new quote of one pod…6 days later!!!! They come to pick our pod up (only 5)days late and with them comes a second pod (wth)!!!! Hubby shows email confirming cancellation of second pod. Nobody knows nothing about nothing. Truck took our POD and had to leave the other with assurance someone would be back for it tomorrow…. Stay tuned, to be continued

When you’re moving the absolute last thing you need is a moving company who will make the move MORE difficult than it already is. My biggest regret about our cross country move is choosing zippy shell. They are extremely disorganized and dishonest. They charged us fees that we were not told about before hand, over charged us for things and then I had to spend MONTHS chasing them down, and to top it off they sent us a damaged shell to put our belongings in and assured us it would be fine and guess what? Almost the ENTIRE shell full of contents was destroyed in the move!! We paid insurance of course and here I am WAY past the deadline for them getting back to us about the claim and they’re giving me the run around and not getting back to me about it!!! TRUST ME — FIND ANOTHER COMPANY!!!!!

I first talked and booked zippy shell with Dillon. He must get paid commission, because he neglected to tell me about the fact that I would pay a month's rent on the containers, regardless of the fact that I didnt need storage... I just needed them moved from one location to another. AND, these containers are way smaller than they claim. Their calculations of a 2 bedroom house must just be furniture and no boxes... We ordered 2- 16' containers and still had to leave things behind... for a 1,000 sq ft home. Dillion told me that I would have more than the equivalent of a 26 ft truck.... but what he didnt mention or take into account is the height of these things is prob not much more than 6'. I could have rented 2 26' uhaul trucks, movers on both ends and drivers and come out cheaper. Billing has been a nightmare! From charging the wrong bank account multiple times, when I put into writing which one to use. This caused me to be charged enormous fees from my bank, because the funds were not there for the amounts they charged. Then, yesterday, they just hit my account for $500, causing it to be overdrawn and leaving me with no money to my name... to find out, it was charged in error... and standard responses of "we are working on reversing the charges" and refusing to answer whether or not it has actually been initiated. Dont use a debit card if you have a choice... Their billing department is not on top of things and they might put you in a lurch with their "error" billing practices. I am a single Mom, and also care for my elderly mother, and they took every dime I had to my name out of my bank account in error. No one at that company seems to even care. Its like $500 is nothing to them and I should just be ok with "Ma'am, you should see the funds back in your account in 5-6 business days" Oh & the "Have a great day!" at the end of the email? That was the cherry on top. Customer Service at Zippy Shell is about as good as what you will get at a McDonalds drive thru, except, thousands of dollars involved... ummm hello? seriously? Please teach your team what customer care means.

Update to a previous 1 star review - It has been 3 months since my items were delivered over 2 weeks late with a broken TV. Claims have been unresponsive and keep pushing the date that they will get my simple claim resolved. This has been by far the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had since the day of pick up. Do not use this company.

When I first used Zippy Shell I thought everything was going great. I had my 1container in storage for 8 months. When it came time to deliver it went great. The movers were excellent, but a few days later I got charged $300 for stairs and piano. At the beginning I told them there was stairs and a piano and thought I was already charged for that both ways but no they charged me again $300. Just beware all the extra fees they don’t tell you about or just charge you anyways.

Last time I mentioned that Zippy shell damaged our brand new TV and Zippy shell asked me to file a claim. I filed a claim on October 21st, 2021. But I have not heard anything back from Zippy shell yet. When I called them today to get an update (12/30) their rep mentioned that it could upto 4+ months to get an update from their claims department. We have been without a TV for 3+ months now waiting on them to respond back regarding our claim. It's a barely used TV and we paid $1850. They also damaged our counter chairs but I have not filed a claim for this thinking it would be useless.
As I mentioned before, please stay away from this company as they will delay your delivery by weeks, damage your belongings and drag the claims process for months for one single item and not even give you an update unless you follow-up. I would give a negative review to this company if possible.

This complaint is about ZIPPY (S)HELL FOR DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. They estimated I would need TWO Shells for my move from Aurora Colorado to Waukegan, Illinois I had a SMALL 3 bedroom house, no appliances, no extra vehicles, just regular household goods, not even three beds. This was going to cost $5,000. end to end . door to door with two helpers on each end. I am disabled and have a disabled son too. Moving day came and they showed up and started packing ( the packing guys were great ) but it became very clear that two shells weren't going to do it. so they had me call for another one which was almost another $2000.00 !!!!!! but they had me over a barrel so what could I do. I had to get out of my place and I had a closing date in Illinois so I said ok. VERBALLY . I did ask WHY it was so expensive and I got a lot of double peak about loading and trucks and administrative costs etc that sounded like BS to me but again, I had to get out. Next day the movers showed up and they needed ANOTHER shell, so they called and I was told this shell was over $2600.00!! I asked WHY and was told that they truck their goods 3 at a time and my fourth shell wouldnt fit on their trucks. I asked them if they had their own trucks and I never got a straight answer I said this was their logistical issue not mine and it should be in their initial pricing to incorporate logistical issues trucking and administrative costs in the cost of doing business! The man got very ugly with me and said ' take it or leave it honey". I was NOT in a position to "leave it honey". That was Nov 22. It is now Dec 28th and I am sitting in an empty house. Im sleeping on an air mattress. i have a fused spine and I can barely walk now. Zippy Shell has been Paid $4211.00 and am told that it will be an additional $10,000 to have my goods delivered to me. All my goods aren't even here. I call Zippy Shell and get different answers every day. Yesterday I called and was told Id have ALL my shells here today. Today I called and was told one of my shells is still in DENVER!! on Dec 22, they charged my credit card $99. without my knowledge! This business is a scam. They lie, cheat, scam everyone they can.I despair of every seeing my belongings again.I don't know where to turn.

I will be fair. After reading some of these reviews, my experience was similar. The gas charges $189.00 and $49.00 charge which I have yet to understand what it was for and came as the trailer that housed the POD was picked up. The crew that packed the POD, excellent job!!! Learned a lot from them on how to pack. My things arrive just fine and no damage though nearly 25 days after pick up. I credit the packers. What will keep me from using Zippy again is the sales department. Dillion, you need to be more up front especially possible extra charges. Also, when they say 10-14 days to warehouse, that does not include weekend days. That was not explained. Some may say you need to read the fine print. I say just cover that in our initial conversation because no one reads the fine print. That alone will steer me from using Zippy in the future unless they are the only option. Warehouse to final destination was great. Alex, you did a great job and easy to work with.

WA - PA My experience was not one I wish to remember. The initial sales representative I spoke with said she would be available for contact throughout the process if needed and after I signed the contract I never heard from her again meanwhile I never even received a confirmation email. The pod was picked up a day late. The pod arrived late even though I was given a confirmation of delivery meanwhile it hadn't even arrived at the facility yet. Once I was able to get a true confirmation it still came a day late. On top of all of this there were additional charges for gas costs which I was aware of but the insurance coverage was not included until the end and I ended up paying way more than was explained to me. Overall very dissatisfied and a 6% refund on $5,000+ move after countless calls and missing our things for almost two extra weeks and no attempted reach out from the company. I do not plan to use this company in the future. Also the frame of the pod was smashed in a couple of places damaging some our items.

DO NOT USE THEM.
they charge from NC - HTX (total)$2500 per container
1st- $99 dollars per month insurance.
2nd-$199 a month the use of the container.
3rd-gas chargest travel base on mileage at the MOST expensive rate in america.
to top it off they took close to 3 month for my furniture delivery to arrive while my BILLS cost were rising to exceed $11,000 for 4 containers use.
I made a claims where 2 end glass top where crack completely in the middle. My Christmas decoration bag was completly wet and damage. My christmas tree - lights- door decoration- and other small light fixture were completly damage.(large bag)
I made a complet damage report and THIS company states they dont take responsibilties to such damages but yet charge over $99 dollars per container. please READ this the so call small inprints.
"CUSTOMER PROTECTION/ DUTY TO INSURE ADDENDUM TO CUSTOMER MOVING AGREEMENT"...in other words unless its been in a natural disaster they wont pay for your received furniture damages.

I am writing this as I sit in my completely empty house on the floor. I wish I had read all of these reviews before I chose to give this nightmare of a company money.
Start of move: Showed up in NYC 5 hours after the driver told me he would. My stuff was in a storage unit so I spent all day sitting there. Loaded the truck and then WHOOPS — they didn't have a lock on them (the contract stipulates they would have one). I'm told they will lock it when they get back to the storage unit, send me a picture, and mail the key to my new address in Denver.
No call, no photos, no key. I reach out asking what's going on and they tell me they locked the shell and TAPED A KEY TO THE SHELL.... Ummmm, ok? How is that not the same as it being unlocked? They don't have an answer to this.
Have it all in writing, so very curious to see what (if anything) I have left (if my stuff actually shows up).
Fast forward 17 days. I tell ZippyShell I can have my stuff delivered Wednesday as a first choice, Tuesday as a second choice. At this point, I'm in Denver and awaiting my stuff. Get an email back from ZippyShell saying my stuff is arriving on Thursday. Um, ok, not what we discussed but I can make it work.
It is now that Thursday - the day my stuff is supposed to arrive. I take off work to get this done. I call ZippyShell at 11AM asking for a time window. Zippy shell informs me the driver will call today one hour before delivery. I call again at 3PM. Same response. This time they let me know they're open and delivering until 8PM. OK...not reassuring.
I took the day off work to move my stuff and now it's coming at 8PM? Whatever, I guess.
It's now 8PM. Call ZippyShell Corporate again — CLOSED. No delivery. No call. No communication whatsoever. No mover. No stuff.
Sitting in an empty house with no bed, no couch, and nowhere to go unless I spend money on a hotel.
First thing tomorrow — filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, filing a complaint with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and reaching out to my credit card company to see what my options are.
Predatory companies like this get away with this BS because not enough people take these steps and call them out. This company literally shouldn't be in business.
Oh, yeah, they also added a $200 fuel surcharge onto my bill magically when the second payment was made, despite having at least 3 reps tell me the number quoted was the final number.
Don't give this company your money.

Absolutely terrible. We’re in the market for a house and due to going 3 miles ( THREE miles further ) zippy shell - Nathan specifically says instead of 3 business days we get TWO HOURS to remove our belongings. How in the world can we do that when you don’t tell us what time the container will arrive to have movers. Absolutely terrible customer service. Asked for his manager and he said he’s the top I can’t talk to anyone else.

Holy hell, I wish I'd seen these reviews before I booked them. Moving from Sacramento California to Billings MT. My experience on the front end was great. They were flexible about moving up my moving day. The truck showed up in a timely manner, and the 2 loaders were awesome!! However, they were a local moving company, not zippy shell. THANK YOU, YOLO TRANSFER. That was October 18th. On the 19th I was charged (without my consent) $189 for 'storage', even though my contact says specifically'NO STORAGE, SHIP ASAP' When I called to mention my contract explicitly says NO STORAGE, she directed me to read the 'fine print'. Rude, aggressive people, ended up hanging up. I received a text on the 22nd that my container had shipped.
So now it is October 27, my belongings arrived in Billings on the 25th. I've now been charged the full agreed upon price ($3470) and a surprise 'fuel surcharge' I knew was not told about. I call daily and email for a delivery date. Nothing yet. I can see from the previous reviews, I have to get more involved...
By the way, file a complaint with the US Department of Transportation, and make sure you report them for DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES and whatever else you can think of:

Absolutely do not use this company. Every aspect of it is terrible--especially their customer service (looking at you, Phillip, Adrianna, Amanda, and David). The sales rep misrepresented our arrival date, they lost our unit (shipped it to the wrong city), lied about it outright, and over a week later I am in an empty apartment with no sign of any progress. Customer service reps have hung up on me when I asked questions about arrival dates, refunds etc. I may never see my stuff again.
Please please please do not use this company! They are a predatory, fraudulent scam that should be shut down.

I generally leave only good reviews but our experience was so bad that I’m hoping this will save someone from a horrible experience. Zippy will likely respond after this that "They are so sorry to hear about this and they are working to get better" but they must have a robot putting that on every review. Why is it on every review? (I gave them so many chances to make it right)
Zippy Shell and Pack Rat are the same company and they are convincing and friendly when you sign up. Don't be fooled. My "good friend" that signed me up couldn't be reached once the problems started.
1. They told me over and over that one pod would be enough. I panicked and got 2 containers. It still wasn’t enough on moving day. I had to leave Texas with some of our stuff in storage.
2. The containers showed up on time but once the house was sold, Zippy/Pack Rat didn’t pick up the containers when they said they would. The first pod was picked up but they left the second one for days. The new owners of our house had our pod in their driveway for days after moving in. We called Zippy repeatedly and got the same line over and over - “the truck broke down” and they had no idea when our pod would be picked up. I finally found the number for the driver who told us he would put us on the schedule and pick up the pod the next day. Why did I have to track down a driver to get on the schedule?
3. Once we bought our house, the real problems started. They promised a date of delivery that never happened. Day after day I called 3 or 4 times a day and the person on the phone would assure me that they deliver until 9 pm so I needed to be patient. Then the routine would start again the next day. I tried to get a manager but managers are never available. The "customer service" person would promise to call back but never did. In fact, they never called me during the WEEKS they had all of my belongings and I had an empty house. I called them every time. They said the problem was that a forklift had broken down. I said "I've been to your warehouse and they have 2 forklifts" and the rep had no come back for that. I finally drove out to the facility. The man who manages the facility outside of Raleigh said he would schedule our delivery the next week. He was the only person who told the truth. The scheduled delivery and pickup happened just like he said. So this one person in the company is the reason I can live with giving 1 star rather than zero.

I hired them on a cross country move from California to North Carolina. I would have rather moved everything myself then drive my uhual of a cliff without getting reimbursed then to deal with this company again. WORST and most stressful move of my life, and I am in the military so I move every 3 years. Customer service is horrible they are great when you call to hire them but after that good luck getting in contact with them. We locked on a day for them to pick my stuff up and they did not show up until 3 days later. I was on the phone on hold for 4 hours trying to get a hold of someone there. When I finally reached them they did not have answers for me and said call back Monday. This was just the beginning to that horrible experience. When you call for updates or to ask a question they’re only response is I don’t know we hire third party companies . I found myself doing their job and having to call all these third party companies and they used a different company for every part of the move. The company they used to pack my things did a horrible job and tried to tell me I needed to pay them more money if I wanted them to pack everything. This company is the horrible. Do yourself a favor and find any other company.

This was by far one of the worst moving experiences I have ever had. They offer absolutely 0 transparency into when you will receive your things and did not provide a lock when our stuff was picked up - so we had to go and find one ourselves. My stuff has still not arrived and it was shipped over a month ago! Customer service is atrocious and they really do not care about making sure the customer is happy. No tracking is provided for your things, so there is no clarity on when it will arrive. Absolutely awful service and 0 out of 5 stars would have been a fairer review to give. NEVER USE THIS SERVICE YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Absolutely horrible experience. Heads up if you have 2 deliveries there is a redelivery charge of 300 dollars that they never tell you about until a few days before your pod is supposed to be delivered. Customer service completely unhelpful unwilling or unable to reimburse you for any of these inconveniences and miscommunications. If they break an item which they did break my television it is 60 to 90 days for a reimbursement. They say a manager will call you back you will be waiting days for that call regardless of the timeline they gave you. Never will use this service again so unorganized and unhelpful.
