With my wife I booked late 2025 a 3 days voyage on the Yangzi Explorer from Chongqing to Yichang.

We are a family of four and took a four-day, three-night cruise from Chongqing to Yichang in the first half of December. From the moment we made our booking months in advance to the very end of the journey, the entire experience was nothing short of impeccable.

First and foremost, I must commend Robin, who handled our booking and arrangements. His level of customer service was truly exceptional. He was consistently responsive, provided clear and detailed information, anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, and proactively coordinated with local guides and drivers to ensure that transfers and luggage logistics were completely seamless. What really stood out was that he personally came to the port in Yichang to greet us upon disembarkation and make sure our onward transfer went smoothly. This level of care and personal attention is rare—Robin is a top-tier hospitality professional by any global standard.

Secondly, the ship itself exceeded expectations. It was brand new, beautifully designed, and maintained to what I would comfortably rate as a solid international five-star standard. The food on board was consistently of a very high quality, with thoughtful variety and excellent execution. Service throughout the ship was attentive without being intrusive, and housekeeping was meticulous and reliable.

Thirdly, the shore excursions during port calls were extremely well curated. The itineraries were varied, engaging, and immersive, with multiple options at each stop to suit different interests and energy levels. The local guides were professional, knowledgeable, and engaging, and each excursion was accompanied by cruise staff to ensure safety and smooth coordination at all times.

Last but certainly not least is the cruise along the Yangtze River itself. The sheer beauty of the Three Gorges, the awe-inspiring scale of the Three Gorges Dam, and the deeply human stories of the river and its people—past and present—left a lasting impression. It is difficult to fully capture the experience in words; it is something that truly needs to be experienced in person.

Among the many journeys our family has taken around the world, this cruise stands firmly among the very best. It is an experience we will remember for years to come and would recommend without hesitation.
