Waste of money when it´s only work with bluetooth.
The advertisement showed that the device could be put on a car, but what does it help when it only works with bluetooth?
Absolute waste of money first off they don't tell they only work if in Bluetooth range loved how they interpreted that on the video by having the car drive up to the device then away from it another 15 seconds and it would have been out of range so I thought ok I will use one as a key finder as my better half constantly puts them somewhere safe then cannot find them bless her so attached to some keys set up the app went into locate and yes it shows a big blue blob right over the top of my house and whichever room I moved into the blob stayed firmly over my house wow I know they are in the house. So to recap they dont work like they say in the advert and suffice to say they are a complete waste of money hope this helps other people thinking of spending a lot of money on a load of tosh.
Absolute junk! First of all max range is only 300 feet. Don't remember seeing that in the ads. Next, operates on Bluetooth. Don't need to say anymore about that. Finally, no tech support by phone. Not even by direct email. Sending them (5) back.
I'll start off by saying I am used to using other brands of BlueTooth finders. But the thing with one in particular was that you couldn't replace the battery. So I wanted to try another BlueTooth finder where you could change batteries. So I ordered an 8-pack of XY4+'s as they seemed the most versatile.
After a month, the package came and I went to work. Installed the App and pretty much immediately noticed odd things like text being cut off, an introduction that contained wrong information, etc.
Getting an XY-device to pair is easy once you get the hang of it, *if* the battery isn't depleted, which was my problem. I had ordered 8 of them and 7 had near empty batteries: red outlined icons on 7 of them while only 1 had a 'full' icon. So I tried that one. Paired it, put it in my backpack and left it. And then the notifications came. "Backpack out of range". And again. And again. And again. Lovely.
So I emailed Support and got in touch with XY Findit and someone answered. Nice and polite, but not offering me any solutions. I was asked to turn off WiFi as that could drain the battery and/or interfere with BT. Sure, that's true, but why don't I have this problem with other BT finders from other brands? And besides, that wasn't my problem: my problem was that 7 out of 8 batteries were dead.
Still, he wanted me to perform more 'troubleshooting':
"First is to uninstall and reinstall the app and then check to make sure that the app is on its latest version." - Dude: I'm on an iPhone. iPhones update Apps every single night. Give me a break.
"Next is to open the finder to where the battery is stored. Take out the battery and press the prong that holds the battery inwards to make sure that there is a slightly tighter hold on the battery." - Again dude: the Finder wouldn't even be able to communicate and tell your buggy App that its battery is nearly dead.
So the most reasonable thing I could think of was him sending me 7 new batteries. Right? Wrong. He never answered again. So then I looked up the price for a CR3032H Lithium coin cell battery: US$ 0.35. So for 7 (or 8 if XY would be serious about running a bonafide company) batteries, they'll let you sort it out on your own.
Byebye! No more XY Unfindables for me and back to Tile.
BY THE WAY:
I've bought my 8 pack of XY4+ for US$159 on december 5, 2018. Guess what the price is today for that same pack? US$225 (was US$320, "you 'save' 20%"). Bullocks. $225 coming from $159 is a steep increase if you ask me. And if they 'were' $320, that means I got them at a 50% discount? I did not, so they're practically saying they've made them twice as expensive.
EDIT: Since I’ve placed this review I have been contacted by XY Findit and it looks like they have realized my complaints weren’t being addressed correctly and seem to have taken action. I’ll wait to see if my complaints are indeed resolved and edit this review further to reflect my experiences with this company.
Just ordered my charcoal find it for my laptop bag, and I absolutely love it!! It's totally my style, with its minimal geometric design, and saves me from forgetting my laptop especially while I'm traveling.
My girlfriend is pretty stoked about it too so I just bought her one for Christmas :D
I've tried out a few item finders before, and this one has worked best for me! I had a lot of trouble not being able to hear other item locators and the XY4+ has been the loudest one. I'm so glad my boyfriend bought this gift for me or else I would be out a few pairs of house keys!
I've actually followed XY since their first version back around 2013 or so. Although at the time I had issues with the 2nd version, I really think they stepped it up with the XY4+. I couldn't be happier. The replaceable battery is definitely a selling point for me. Not only can I hold on to the device for a longer period of time, I appreciate the lower environmental impact! It is a great gift !!
So far, I've really enjoyed my XY4+! I had a little trouble figuring out how to add a photo to my item in the app after I added my backpack. After emailing their support team, I can now say that I have a very happ Backpack that is ready to be never misplaced again :)
I am not tech savy. I had a lot of issues trying to even just turn on Bluetooth when I first was setting up my XY4+, and immediately ended up emailing support for help. I spoke with Tracie, and she helped me figure out what to do next. Now, I know that I can always find my phone with it, and I can't thank her enough!
Great product. I lost my keys three times in the past month and every time I found them again, because of my key finder.
