I’m certain I clicked pay at pump and presented my card (I always use pay at pump at this station) the pump took time to activate, because someone in the shop in cahoots with VARS changed the payment... Se mer

Said I "illegally drove off".…
Said I "illegally drove off"...had gone in to pay but for some reason my Apple pay wasn't accepted. My mum offered to pay over the phone but they declined this. The cashier asked me to transfer the money to his personal account and he would pay it! Didn't feel comfortable with this so they took my details and I left after spending around 20 minutes on site. Tried to call and pay once home but they said I would have to wait for a letter. Letter came and charged an extra £40! Have tried to pay via the reference number provided and it is invalid! Have tried to email, no response. Have tried to call, not connected! Awful company!
Vars are chasing my in-laws and…
Vars are chasing my in-laws and harassing them for recovery of a fuel purchase. The fuel was taken illegally by a cloned number plate vehicle and the police are involved. Despite informing Vars of this along with the police reference, they are still pursuing the debt with my in laws who are distraught and have been worried sick over the whole incident of having their vehicle reg cloned. Poor poor service.
Bullying tactics very distressing
Despite having a valid receipt for fuel VARS refused to accept the full amount had been paid.
Tried relentlessly to appeal , didn’t respond to most emails and although there was no evidence ,continued to harass me for £8 shortfall.
This was clearly was an error on cashiers side and I tried to explain that I had paid the full amount as shown on the card portal and have receipt to prove it.
VARS would not acknowledge that there was an error made by operative or respond to any of my messages explaining what had had happened just that I must pay the £8 plus £30 admin !
Have paid it because of the distress this has caused by threatening to double costs if not paid within 14 days but hoping I can continue with appeal to recover the money.
Very dodgy, report it to action fraud and the police
I have been told at a fuel station that my car has been blacklisted for a drive off despite not having received anything in the post. They gave me the vars technology email to contact them direct. They came back firstly to say they had raised the issue and someone would be in touch and then later to ask that I send my V5C (log book) and the date I bought the car. This raised alarm bells so I have contacted the police (101) who said nothing had been raised against my vehicle and I got a log number for reference. They also told me not to send the V5C log book. I also contacted Action fraud who gave me a crime ref and said they will look into this but to call back with any further information. I still have received nothing in the post and they should have details of the registered address of the vehicle. This is incredibly bad and suggest if similar has happened to you that you do as I have done so that these practices are being highlighted and logged.
My phone died so was unable to pay for…
My phone died so was unable to pay for £10 fuel. Agreed with the cashier to go back after work to pay. In the meantime, I got an email from VARS saying I need to pay £15!! They would not waive the charge. Pathetic!
Then the payment website took my money then said it 'may' be successful or not?? Money went out of my bank anyway!
Hard Tactics
I dispensed fuel, went into the ASDA forecourt, collected more items and went to the counter and paid (or so I'd thought).
Received a VARS penalty 2 weeks later with a photo of my car claiming i'd not paid for fuel. Upon checking the bank, actually i'd not paid for anything. Something I was not told by the cashier on the day as they let me leave without challenge..
ASDA staff (not management as he was away) reviewed the CCTV and confirmed that i had indeed not paid for anything (as opposed to paying for goods and NOT fuel only)
VARS disputed this claiming it was my responsibility and mine only to pay on the day and tried imposing their admin fees with threats of escalation, with absolutely no consideration that I may not have been at fault. Stating their fees had now already been incurred and could not be waived. (basically you have no appeal and must simply pay)
I spoke with the manager of the forecourt upon his return and he himself saw the footage, accepted payment for the fuel 2 weeks later and asked VARS via their internal system to cancel the penalty.
He did however say he could not guarantee they would.
I wrote a sternly worded email enclosing a receipt for the payment for fuel stating that if they did not waive their fees I would take it to the national press. I CC'd the director of VARS and the CEO of ASDA, plus trading standards and at this point they did relent and cancelled it completely.
I gave 2 stars as i did eventually have my penalty cancelled but only through my own determination.
Complete Chancers & Criminals
Complete Chancers & Criminals. Took me to court after saying I’d done a drive off but made no effort to check when I gave them information to contact the Police. Tried bullying & harassing tactics that ultimately got laughed at in Court by a judge. Up there with the least professional companies I’ve encountered.
Total frauds operate just like Mafia
Total frauds operate just like the mafia" if you dont pay up now then we will double it " tactics
I am paying just to get them off my back even though i know what they are accusing me of is not true. They say I drove off without paying for petrol when I actually brought groceries. They have provided no proof or CCTV images,
because they cant.
Lara at VARS is completely rude
Lara at VARS is completely rude! This company are a fraud, Refuse to check CCTV to see my complaint is legitimate and then send horrible emails. Reporting them to DVLA and the Obudsman
Vars Technology Ltd are complicit. Rating should be zero in…
Vars Technology Ltd are complicit in trying to fraudulent extract money from individuals, through the County Court with a company called DCB Legal Ltd. Here is one example of how the "scam" works. Your vehicle drives into a petrol station with a food outlet attached, you buy some food, but do not use the fuel pump and drive off. Having captured your registration on APNR a year plus later a claim is lodged via the court for an amount owing by you, as you failed to pay for fuel. Fortunately in this particular case I was involved in, the individual concerned had evidence of recently filling up elsewhere!
If you receive a claim form from the court on behalf of Vars Technology Ltd. / DCB Legal Ltd and you disagree simply lodge your defence form stating the truth.
