They have not paid me for 3 tasks in over 2 months

They have not paid me for 3 tasks, in over 2 months for 2 email collection tasks, and over 1 month for a 500 sentence recording task. I email them over, and over, and no response. I want to get paid!
If i get paid, i will change this review, but as of now, 1 star, bad communication, most likely scammed me out of my time and money!

Edit- They send me an email everyday to "fix my review", 0 communication, late pay, but when i make it public they email me daily to change my review. I will leave it as one star, because that's what they deserve. 0 communication when i needed my overdue payment, now all of the sudden its everyday? They email me?

I recently completed a recording…

I recently completed a recording project with them starting the first week of February. Two times after completing it, they complain about something that wasn't done right instead of letting me know about my payments. Then the representative wants to mention when I complete the second phase and the recording are approved then they'll move forward. She reaches out to me saying that she's waiting to hear from QA. It's been two months and still no payment yet. What kind of joke are they playing?

Finally received payment

Updated review (March 20, 2024): I finally received payment last week. While the process to submit photos is pretty straightforward, the lack of communication and unexplained delay in payment could still use improvement.

Original review: Submitted annotated photos in December 2023. Since then I have had no feedback except when I inquire as to the status of my projects. Then I am told that they have to go through the QA process. At this point in late Feb 2024, I am writing this company off as a scam.

Bad communication is their only downfall.

I got my money after complaining about my bad experience on Trustpilot. Not happy that their communication was so bad and that I had to complain first, but they eventually do pay. They also sent me the wrong details first, but fixed it quick.

Based on our investigation, we can confirm that you submitted your images twice, with two of them passing our Quality Assurance (QA) checks. However, the main issue is related to EXIF data. One of the acceptance criteria was to have the EXIF data of image intact. The EXIF data contains details about how the image was taken. If you edit or modify the image after taking it, this data can be removed. In your rejected photos this EXIF data was absent meaning that the photos had been altered before submission.

Your QA feedback, explaining these concerns, was shared with you via email and additionally is accessible in DataForce Platform’s Intaker Editor. We acknowledge that due to the project closure, the feedback wasn't readily available. We've asked the project team to reopen it, allowing you to review the feedback again.

Update to Transperfect's response:

- No, Transperfect's verbiage was NOT clear, and they're speaking out of both sides of their mouth as it were, since they already acknowledged that their verbiage was unclear to me directly prior in emails, and now are changing their tune on that. And their manager confirmed it was $50 per session AFTER I had already done the job, not before like they are making it sound. As well, when I showed other people the original solicitation email they sent me, which I still have, I asked them how much it seemed like Transperfect was paying people and everyone said $150.00 even if I didn't bias them with that answer, they came up with the same thing as me. This is for a very specific reason that Transperfect was likely crafty about. They deliberately write $50 per "project", rather than use the word job, and there were three projects, making the reader conclude they are getting $150.

- Transperect has incorrectly stated twice, that the work was not for voice translation. That's wrong. Voice translation is their original words on the emails, not mine. I can show anyone who asks, which shows that they are dishonest here on Trustpilot as well. Regardless of the nomenclature, when they hired me for the work it was understood by both sides that this meant me doing voiceover work, reading aloud audio, which I performed for them well beyond their estimated time. Specifically, they acknowledge that I completed that work in full when they paid me the $50 instead of the $150 and that it took six hours, not the twenty five minutes they said it would take per project.

********Original complaint below****** :

On August the 1st, 2023, I was contacted by one Jose Pablo Ramirez, of Transperfect Dataforce. The company at the time claimed to be able to offer me a "25 minute" gig, where I could assist with voice translations over an app. What happened next is that my dealings with them seemed to expose a broader scam going on, ranging across multiple people.

Dataforce, Transperfect's subsidiary, seems to be operating as a kind of boiler room call center scam, where they recruit labor nationally, that they have no intention of paying for their work by deliberately inducing erroneous work clauses to illegally claim contract breaching.

In my case, I followed the parameters of their job they floated me that would supposedly pay $150. Right from the start, they tell the person they solicit that they will only pay the person the $150, if 100% of the job gets completed, this means 3 out of 3 tasks they assign you.

On a hunch that something was wrong, when the company kept finding nonsensical ways to say that I didn't complete the first job, I did some light investigating. It appears there's a possible class action suit in the works, as there's legions of people across the internet (TrustPilot, Google Reviews, etc.) all claiming some version of the same thing: That Dataforce solicited them for labor, and then found an obscure way to not have to pay them.

In my case, I kept re-doing the work for Dataforce over and over. Something to the effect of 7 times. At least 3 of those times I was told either that I had missed one sentence—that I hadn't— or it was simply the app's fault, as it was a buggy interface. I would reach out to Jose or Transperfect, and ask to re-do just that line. They would ask me to record the entire job task all over again. It seemed to be a tactic of "digging holes and filling them back in" so to speak, to wear down the worker, even though the company has already reaped the benefit of the original labor. This seems to be a tactic of trying to wear the person down, so they don't fulfill their contract.

Also in my case, like others, it seems absurd to pay me $0 of translation work out of $150, when what they claim I did is 99% of the job.

In total, the "25 minutes of work" I was told I would do, became about 6 hours in total of working and re-working, for $50 they claimed was all the pay was supposed to be.
Over 55+ emails and 4 phone calls, over a month into this, is I got paid a lousy $50 for FINISHING THE JOB, 1/3 what it seemed I was expressly offered at start. As well, it is clear there's others who were never paid in similar scenarios. As well, they did NOT clarify in a follow up email it was only $50 until AFTER I did the work.

Our projects' requirements, compensation and guidelines are clearly stated on the application forms and in the email communication. We have rechecked the verbiage for this project that you participated in, and there is no instance where we communicated that the compensation was $50 per recording session, the compensation was provided for completing the entire project, which is formed by 3 recording sessions. Our Community Engagement team clarified this aspect with you via email as well. Also, there was no translation work involved in the project that you completed.

All contributors that participate in DataForce projects are compensated for their work if their deliveries pass the Quality Assurance check - and this information is stated on all our materials that face the applicants.

In need of improvement

After my negative review here, I was paid after all. Nevertheless, I cannot award more than three stars, as it is not acceptable that the support does not respond for weeks and I had to go this route to receive my payment.

I was approached to translate some…

I was approached to translate some documents from English to Arabic from a "Project Manager" claiming to be from Transperfect. The wage was discussed and procedure. On completion, I submitted the work and was then told to pay 300 USD up front and secure a payment link in order to receive the funds for the completed task. This was not agreed upon or discussed before completing the task. I can only assume it is a scam.

Hi, Tanya, this was definitely a scam, someone impersonated a TransPerfect employee. TransPerfect will never require any payments from the translators under any circumstances. All TransPerfect employees will send all communication from a Transperfect.com or Translations.com email address - this is a simple way to identify the scammers, they usually operate in chats and cannot send emails from a TransPerfect domain.

De snyder med betalinger

Når man arbejder som oversætter for Transperfect, kan man ikke være sikker på at modtage sin betaling. For det første overholder de ikke deres egne betalingsbetingelser og for det andet betaler de ikke alle deres regninger. Når man henvender sig til dem for at løse problemerne, får man at vide, at man selv skal gøre arbejdet for at trævle tingene op, hvilket i sidste ende bliver en tidsrøver af rang. Man ender som oversætter med at bruge så meget tid, at det ikke længere er arbejdet værd. Transperfect er dermed en virkelig dårlig arbejdsgiver!
