The Midland Hotel Omdömen 

We stayed for two nights. The building, check in staff and bar were very efficient. Our problem was with the restaurant Maitre’d. We booked a table. No waitress took our order, no one was around to call. We had to get up and ask the Maitre’d to send someone. They took our order, after 40 minutes another waitress told us it had not been processed. We still waited and losing the will to live approached the Maitre’d’ again. Our food eventually arrived well over an hour after order. It was obvious from the very efficient waitress who tried to cover for the others mistakes that the Maitre’d was the problem. They would not charge the meal to the room. The Maitre’d had a massive tantrum and told us to walk out of the restaurant and not pay as he didn’t care. Obviously we paid. But the whole experience which cost £75.00 was the first I have every experienced. We are not naturally complainers and always very polite. The lift smelt strongly of cannibus, the mini fudge was unstocked, the duvet thick enough for the artic and the whole place seemed to be filled with wannabe wags.
Good…. quiet on the 6 floor, sir con good, very central, close to parking and worth it for my daughters wedding. More like a 3* on this occasion.

I have stayed at the Midland hotel for many years. There have been ups and downs but my last stay in September was back up to the old standard. Many thanks to the whole team, particularly reception and the breakfast team headed by Elisabete, who always look after me so well

Dirty glasses in the room, hair clogging up the shower. No shampoo or shower gel.

We paid £270 for 1 night for what was si ply the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Really poor service but a dirty room made us check out at 8am in the morning.

Highly recommended that you do not use this hotel.

Stayed here from 4th July to 9th July. 5 nights. My room did not get cleaned once. I asked reception 3 times and the response I got was they are short staffed and cannot promise anything! Air conditioning did not work for the whole time! The room was baking! Really terrible. Good hotel facilities but the customer service is terrible. Over staffed in reception area as they need to keep up fake fronts, but core services are poor. Expect much more for the price. Spa has no mens changing rooms currently which is not great. However spa is nice. Going back in a week as it’s booked already, hopefully improves otherwise not booking this again.

Overrated overpriced absolutely terrible terrible customer service terrible food and not halal the sauna and swimming pool is very small overweighted overpriced don’t go here save yourself some money if you’re really talking about a hotel in Manchester and go to the Edwardian hotel in Manchester it’s absolutely amazing and 10 times better don’t go here it’s terrible I tried complaining they didn’t even do anything absolutely terrible they don’t care about the customer they don’t care about the client they only care about the money don’t go here overrated overpriced terrible customer service terrible experience lot of money I paid what I got in return was not good I regretted it seriously I regretted it so bad but I couldn’t do anything so I don’t want anybody to make the same mistake I did trust me don’t go here it might look nice in might seem nice but it’s absolutely terrible there’s better hotels in Manchester . Trust me this hotel is not good you’re going to end up regretting it if you come here don’t don’t go here terrible terrible terrible customer service terrible management terrible food terrible very disappointed. I complain to the manager and she didn’t even care they don’t care don’t go here it’s not good really not good.

In general lovely hotel and nice staff. Just a bit disappointed with the room. Stayed for 2 nights for girlfriends birthday. One of the lights in the bathroom was hanging down from the ceiling and could see the wires. Also we had red hot water from sink and shower and no cold at all. We rang down to reception to get it sorted. They sorted the water but never fixed the light. Also Room 310 door different than the rest looked more like a cleaning cupboard door. For such a prestigious hotel left us feeling a bit upset.

Staying in the midland currently. Just discovered that they don’t service the rooms supposedly because of covid. So no towels tea bags shower gel etc. tried calling room service no answer. Called reception no answer. Couldn’t sleep last night for the noise in corridor and machinery running all night. Breakfast very crowded and chaotic and food not hot. Not what we were expecting.

Absolute Shambles and Disorganised Customer Service.

BLACK MOLD in-between bathroom tiles and room not available until 6:15pm.
I was due to attend a dinner/dance, which was also at the hotel and started at 6:30pm. I was 30 minutes late attending this dinner/dance and totally missed the drinks reception because my room wasn't available to me for 2 hours 15mins after the stated check in time.
The hotel was aware of the start time for the dinner/dance and I pointed it out to the front desk and was told no other rooms were currently available and I would have to wait for my allocated room.
I have also emailed the hotel regarding this problem over 2 weeks ago and not received a reply! It states on the hotel website that you will get a reply within 2 hours, obviously that is not the case.
Can you tell me what the hotels policy is regarding rooms not being available to guests at the stated check in time of 4:00pm ?

On a day where lots of little things going wrong could have easily spoilt a wedding, Donna saved the day. She was beyond incredible. We’d spent hours trying to rectify one particular issue and Donna sorted out in minutes. She was literally incredible. Had it not been for her then this review would be minus 5 stars not plus.
I really hope that management appreciates her and the job that she does, she is a real asset to the company. My son (Max) and I couldn’t thank her enough!

Had my wedding there. It was absolutely fantastic, the food was amazing, the staff were really attentive, Donna was brilliant, she and her team couldn’t do enough for us, whatever she gets paid should be doubled for the standard of service we received, couldn’t recommend her highly enough, from start to finish it was faultless.

Telephone reservation booking service lack manners and training. Disappointed with service for a 4 star hotel. Good luck! in dealing with telephone reservations when you have issues.

Firstly I must say I’m sure the hotel is lovely to stay at that’s why I booked it and going by a lot of reviews.
Unfortunately though due to cancellation of event we was going to I had to cancel my booking for this hotel but was carful to choose a refundable booking if I needed to cancel. The terms of refund was refund would be made within 14 working days of cancellation.

Of course I fully understand with the times we live in at the moment it could be a slight delay in refund being processed.
We cancelled on December 15th and it’s now January 26th and no refund as been received. I have phoned and emailed to chase refund up but they say that although their cancellation refund policy payment is within 14 working days the law is they have up to 90days to refund and they blame Covid for them needing more than 14 working days.
So my advice unless you don’t mind waiting a long time for refund if you need to cancel then I strongly recommend you do not pay any money up front especially the full amount as I did and not forgetting although there’s a long delay in refunds to you any upfront payments to them is instant so no delay there.

Please note this review is only about the problems I’m having getting the refund and not a stay at hotel.
Also I’d like to add I’ve had several events cancelled and so had to cancel any hotels I’ve booked and all have refunded witching 5 working days so it can be done as it takes seconds to issue a refund

Great location in Manchester, great quality service, victorian tea is delicious and the spa is treat!

The hotel is nice enough, the prices however are absurd. I get that some places cost more to operate than others and I accept that, however, inflating prices just for the sake of it is just plain wrong and the only possible way that this will ever change is if it hits their bottom line by way of losing custom via honest and open reviews such as mine.

I've been in and stayed in a number of hotels as nice or nicer than The Midland in Manchester and all of them did not inflate the prices as much as this hotel did.

£5.25 for a bottle of lager
£6.25 for a pint of lager
£8 for a single gin with a small mini bar size bottle of lemonade
£30.00 for a full english breakfast
