Over the holidays I received countless…

Over the holidays I received countless emails from them advertising 20% OFF for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas and End of Year Sales. But of course there were always exclusions. About 95% of their inventory didn’t qualify for the sales. LOL
During the last week of December I bought a fishing rod from them. 12/30/25. On 12/31/25 I received the order confirmation email and the USPS Tracking Number. It was sent Priority Mail.
On 1/7/26 I clicked on the tracking # link and it said that the post office was still waiting for the package, only the shipping label was created.
I emailed TackleDirect and inquired about my order. I was told that this was fairly common procedure from the Post Office and it should update once the package reaches the destination distribution hub.
On 1/13/25 I clicked on the link again. The USPS still hasn’t received the package. WTF!!!
I guess they didn’t have the rod in stock and had to order it from the manufacturer. Yet it shows as being available for order on their website.
Needless to say, I won’t be doing business with this company anymore. I’d rather spend my hard earned money on a legit company.

In regards to the exclusions, some manufacturers simply do not allow their products to be discounted and as an authorized dealer of these respective brands, we must abide by their pricing policies in order to continue offering their products to our customers. That is not our call, and there were tens of thousands of eligible products within the promotions. Any legitimate business within our industry will have the same stance.

In regards to your order, it was placed on 12/30 after close of business for an in-stock Tsunami rod. We did not have to order it from the manufacturer as you are stating. It was indeed packaged and labeled on 12/31, however there were not any USPS pickups that day due to the holiday. It was picked up along with all of other packages by USPS on 1/2, which we have video footage of the USPS truck being loaded. USPS is certainly not scanning all packages at this time and has been delayed across the country as they state themselves. USPS scanned the package for the first time on 1/12, so they certainly appear to have held up the shipment after picking it up from us. The package was also scanned by USPS today 1/15, in Colorado so it is making its way to you just greatly delayed. Certainly apologize for the delay in transit and we will continue to monitor the shipment's progress and if does not get delivered we will certainly issue a full refund or get a replacement rod shipped out for you.

Avoid Star Rods

Ordered two Star Rod Extra Heavy Paraflex conventional rods with limited lifetiem warranties. Both blanks have snapped in half fighting big fish. When I contacted Star Rods/Calcutta there is no response at all. I have filed 3 claims using their online form with not a single response. The customere service numbers for both Star Rods and Calcutta give busy signals. Do yourself a favor and avoid Star Rods. Terrible product that the manufacturer does not stand behind.

I placed a order with tackle direct over a week ago, they got there money from my bank but I never received my stcroix fishing rod , been checking shipment but it still hasn’t been shipped, what a bunch of scammers, I’m getting ahold of the Better Business Bureau, DO Not Order anything from this place they will take your money but you will not receive your item!!

Don't honor giftcards

They do not honor gift cards after 1 year has passed which is illegal under federal law - supposed to be a 5 year minimum. Also their inventory selection is very minimal, probably because their company is failing because they are NJ scumbags...

We already have an email in to you requesting the code that you were attempting to use, as they are unique, character sensitive codes that need to be entered exactly as provided. We strongly suggest copying and pasting the code instead of attempting to type it out. If it is off by a single character it obviously will not work. Purchased fishing rod and didn't ship a week later!

I have purchased fishing rod and lures from them for quite amount of years now. I never had a problem before, but on my recent purchase on a fishing rod on 9/30/2024. It's a 180 degree turn from good experience buying to the worst buying experience that I have with them. I purchased a OTI jigging rod on 9/30, the next day email from them stating that my order is shipped out with a tracking number. Then I said to myself, it will be perfect timing because I have a fishing trip plan in Montauk, on the weekend. Because normally shipped a fishing rod from South New Jersey to Brooklyn, NY it only take 2-3days at most. Then Friday 10/4 came along the tracking number information didn't indication anything on delivery! So, I call TackleDirect customer service at 10:09am and I spoke to a customer service representative and he told me that USPS didn't update/delay the tracking information; the final thing that he told was that I should receive my rod by Saturday. Then the weekend have past and no rod delivery. Then I tracking my order again, on USPS website and there no delivery information except stating that "package received, package acceptance, pending". So, I call TackleDirect customer service again 10/7. The customer service representative told me that my shipping order is being effect by the storm in Florida. My response to that is "what does that got to do with delivery from New Jersey to New York?" I told him that we are only one state away! There should be no effects on the delivery. The customer service representative just bull excuse. By 10/10 I still have Not received my order yet. So, I called TackleDirect customer service again to speak to a customer service representative and he was kind of rude towards me asking what happened to my order. He told me that my will get to me soon (9:27am), I told him that I have been hearing for more than a week already. Then I wait till noon and track the package again. Finally, USPS gave me tracking information about my package. USPS stated that they received the package on 10/9 @8:15am. Which means that TackleDirect never really shipped out my order at all and their customer service keeps giving bull sh×××t excuses and lie to me all this time of me waiting for a package that was never shipped out. Attention TackleDirect management team, you could check on my order to the corresponding dates that I call your store and spoke to your customer service representative to verified this matter! I would not recommend you to buy from them!

Tony, apologies for any confusion here but the package was certainly not handed to USPS on 10/9, that is simply the first time they actually took the time to scan the package. This unfortunately has been a common occurrence as of late with them and we certainly did not lie to you. Each night Monday through Friday, USPS picks up hundreds of packages from us and for whatever reason, some rods have been held up without a scan or movement for upwards of a week or more. We would never take the time to pack up an order and have it sit for a week plus and then lie to you on top of it. We have been in constant communication with USPS around this issue and we simply provided you the information we are being relayed by their representatives. While we also do not think the hurricanes in Florida should be impacting delivery for a package going from NJ to NY, it unfortunately has. Certainly apologize that the package was delayed by USPS in ultimately getting to you as quickly as usual, and if any of our customer service agents were rude to you in any communications. That certainly is not the expected experience and we will review each call to see what we could have done better. We will also be reaching out to you directly to see how else we can assist you.

Bought a pole and reel on the website

Bought a pole and reel on the website, on the check out menu after I had bought two day shipping shows it’ll b here that Friday it’s Tuesday. The next day I get a message saying your products aren’t in inventory and need a lead time of 7-10 extra days on top of the regular two day shipping I payed extra for, when I message them about the obvious confusion they tell me there’s a small print at the initial product menu saying some items may need additional lead time yet on the check out menu or any menu where I’m paying extra for shipping it showed it’ll b here by that Friday. Now it’s two weeks later I only have the reel not even the pole literally payed extra because I wanted to use it on a fishing trip this past weekend oh well ig, buyers beware there shipping dates are so wrong I would’ve just went to a local bait shop at this point and gotten a pole reel combo from them if it meant a little extra but I have my product in hand, all in all I wouldn’t use the website again and shady practice they got going on with the lead time not even mentioned in the check out menu anywhere it should or even at the menu where I’m paying go extra for shipping

Both the rod and the reel were listed as available and requiring an additional lead time of 7-14 business days prior to shipping rather than in-stock and shipping right away. This was shown on the product pages, within the cart prior to checkout and then we also followed up with an email shortly after the order was placed to further reinforce both product's availability and the necessity for the items to come in from their respective manufacturers prior to shipping. Both items came in within the time frame displayed and the reel was shipped with 2 day shipping ahead of the rod since it came in first and the shipment was going to be made in 2 shipments anyway. We have gone ahead and refunded your shipping charge and certainly apologize for any confusion or inconvenience.

I ordered a reel on 6/20 and there was a 7-14 business day wait on it, ok no problem. So business day 15 rolls around and I hear nothing back from them, I contacted them and asked about the order and the next day on business day 16, Kelly from cs said sorry its out of stock... WHY DOES IT TAKE 16 BUSINESS DAYS TO TELL ME THAT AN ITEM IS OUT OF STOCK???

CrazyJK, the reel was not in-stock when ordered and that is why it was shown as Available instead of In-Stock and typically requiring a lead time of 7-14 business days prior to shipment. The reel is set up to ship out to you as soon as it arrives from the manufacturer. That lead time is an estimate and that was shown on the product page, on the add to cart modal that popped up as soon as the item was added to cart, and then also within cart prior to checkout. We also followed up with an email stating the anticipated lead time. Certainly apologize for any delay. We can certainly make any adjustment to the order you would like, whether that is to an in-stock reel or a cancellation. Our apologies for any confusion, we do our best to be as transparent as possible in regards to the availability of every item on our site. 1st experience with Tackle Direct I…

1st experience with Tackle Direct I ordered a reel, requested it loaded with 30 lb braid, got the reel with a spool of line in the box. Not all that bad. 2nd order ordered 2 spools of line after 2 weeks no line I called them to find out where my line is and was told it will be at least anther 8 days or so till I receive my order, but yet I was told it was in stock. Unbelievable! Next time Ill just order from Amazon.

Update Called today, the rest of my order is still on back order, Gee what a surprise! It's now been a month and a half to get a spool of line! This is getting beyond ridiculous now! Fishing season will be over till I get this line now.

Update: Art, the second spool of line simply needs to come in from Sufix before it can ship out to you.
