Don’t bother was this company.if I could give no stars I would
The worst customer service I have ever witnessed, avoid at all costs!
I wish I could do zero stars.
The most inhumane and wicked set of people I have ever come across.
Meeting them was like getting acquainted with the devil.
Sold a faulty car and took no responsibility for it at all.
Thank God I got out of it. It took 10 months to fight. Not once did they issue an apology or try to resolve the issue. VC5 was never sent. I reminded them numerous times and they said they had done it. I went to get some groceries and the brakes failed.
Honestly! I thank God I got out of it. AVOID these people.
The people were very curtious and friendly and knowledgeable. They did my oil change and transmission flush. They are reasonably priced didn't take to long and I had my car back the very same day?
AVOID - purchased an Astra, within an hour it had broken down and had to be low loaded to the garage. Needed new battery, 2 new tyres (MOT did not mention tyres) and wheel bearings - it also needed a service (which the salesman signed for in front of me). service book did not belong to the car , plus front and back parking sensors needed replacing as well as dashboard sensor. Boot did not open and windscreen washers did not work. This was 24th May 2025 . Since that time I have texted, emailed, phoned, the person you needed was not available at the time and would ring you back - never happened. I had to refer to the bank, motor ombudsman,. citizen advice and my legal team. I eventually obtained the bulk of my cash back via the bank, which left the deposit, which they tried to reduce in monetary value. I have today had the car collected (7th November) and full deposit refunded. Dean who collected the car this evening was sweetness and light, blaming everyone else at the dealershjp. It only took five and a half months of stress and anxiety. BE WARNED
Fact: Dealer withheld and did not advertise they did not have the V5 document.
Fact: They only informed me after the sale was complete when the sales guy stood up to see me off.
Fact: I took a day off work, spent £125 in train fares.
Fact: When I insisted on a full refund, I was challenged by 3 people in the garage, aggressively, and the manager on the phone.
Fact: They could not answer me where they sourced the car from and why they hadn’t applied for a new V5 prior to sale. I was told to head off to the post office and do all this myself.
Fact: They expected me to drive off without taxing the vehicle.
Fact: I have never been spoken too or treated so appallingly
Fact: Manager has since sent me insulting messages to my phone
Fact: Not once has anyone thought about saying sorry. Just met with aggression
Absolute con garage, paid £99 deposit I was advised fully refundable. I couldn’t make the viewing so he’s refused to refund. I completed the transfer at 7pm I contacted him the following day at 8am to say I wouldn’t make it. He hadn’t done any work on the vehicle in that time or had cost him anything. But refuses to reimburse me. I’ve since offered to attend and he’s ignored me. How many others is he doing this to. Stay away don’t be a victim. Complaint made to auto trader to. Will be seeking further advise.
My husband and I drove up to Kirkcaldy after I had spotted a very nice VW golf mk7.5 on the auto trader website. We met Dale and I have to say what an extremely pleasant and easy going man he is. We felt no pressure whatsoever while we looked over the car and once we had agreed to buy the car. Dale arranged all the preparation for the vehicle. He updated me at every stage of the process. We worked together to arrange finance options and delivery.
The whole experience was excellent.
AVOID
This is a company that basically tell you what you want to hear then totally forget about you once the money has been handed over. Purchased a mini which came with a brand new MOT (Cough Cough) how this Mot center still has its license i really don't know, and paid for delivery with a new service as well with the car being professionally valeted. The car turned up absolutely filthy, no diesel and told it passed its MOT with 2 advisory's.
Having the car checked myself for safety reasons 1 week later its so obvious that the Car could not have been looked at for an MOT. Not serviced and certainly not Valeted like i was told.
I will be taking all my evidence to trading standards as this lot really are a cowboy outfit, wouldn't have been surprised to have seen them on BBC scam interceptors or something.
No logbook turning up either so more money i have to spend.
I saw the reviews on this place and wished i believed the few at the time to avoid.
Im sure their will be more.
I can only say I haven't had such an appalling experience buying a car ever. I was scammed. These guys so great PR over the phone the guy who speaks good enough English but behind the scenes they are getting dodgy Mots from that guy down the road and telling you over the phone ( carefull make note that they rarely commit to anything on paper) sweet talking you about how it's got full service history and been recently serviced. When our car turns up it had no service history apart from 'work' done on engine fuel injectors which after a 20 mins run were seen to be leaking leaving us with a smoking engine that was real fire risk. Not what you want to see when you've bought a car online had it delivered off the back of a truck while the guy said he'd driven it from Peterborough to Leeds - I don't think so said my mechanic when I called him over to check it out he said there's no way that car was driven up the motorway it would have exploded. Nothing wrong with it before it set off they tell me. What about the full service history I asked, it was there when it left they said. Magically must have flown out the window then. I asked if they'd pay for the repair it would cost close to £1,000 so they argued with me that all 4 injectors didn't need doing so they only pay for two so after sending mechanics quote they argued he must be using expensive parts so they wouldn't pay full price. Eventually when I threatened to take civil action they agreed to pay for half the repair then sent £100 less, as "a good will gesture"! These guys are a slither away from criminals. They have no interest in honesty and that's what really gets me what would people run a business treating people so badly - this car was for my daughter who has a young kid and is desperate to get to work safely. They didn't care. They lied and lied and in the end I couldn't handle the stress and just paid for repair after repair until it was road worthy £1,500 later and try to forget such people exist.just remember the guy who speaks good English sweets talks you but get to anyone behind the scenes and you may as well be dealing with horse thieves. How do they get away with this. Other reviews bear this out too and DONT be fooled by their in-house website reviews which they have clearly handpicked.
Here's the best part, because they realised my daughter forgot to tear off the right part of the log book (baby in hand etc) they worked out they could let someone use the car down in Peterborough knock up a few speeding fines and my daughter would pick up the fines because it was still in her name. What business does this!! Only when we phoned the police explained the matter to them they advised to notify DVLA and they would amend the car owner details. When I challenged Swaan Motors of course the guy knew nothing about it. So the police lie then? They get away with this isn't it criminal behaviour?
To sum up you may be lucky if you're not buying an older car but if you are be ready to be led down the garden path by penny- pinching schemers. At very least pay a mechanic to check over and see the car in person double check all paperwork and don't believe a word they tell you or you'll be on the way to a heart attack.
My daughter purchased a car from here a week ago. It passed the MOT, courtesy of a garage down the road from the dealership. When we arrived to collect it we immediately noticed the cover for the tow bar was still missing (which we’d specifically asked to be sorted). We then turned the engine on and the front fog light wasn’t working, and the back light was full of condensation (presumably we had missed this when we first viewed it). I have had a car fail an MOT on a light cover with condensation and also on a light not working in the past.
The guy who served us got very irritated when we questioned this and kept asking why we were so worried about a fog light that would cost £5 to repair, adamant it wasn’t an MOT failure. I looked on the internet and found contradicting information about this so wasn’t too sure.
In the end, we were told to take it to the garage next door with his colleague and ask them. When we arrived and turned the engine on for the mechanic to look, the fog light worked. He said this could be due to a loose connection. He looked at the rear light and said that there was enough light coming through for it to pass an MOT. I was still feeling uneasy about this. He said he would charge £60 labour to sort this (and it’s around £50’for the part).
We returned to the dealership and asked if he would give a reduction due to these costs and he said he’d already given us £50 off. He offered a further £50, so £100 in total.
Still felt uneasy as that was just two things we’d noticed so it makes you wonder what else could be wrong.
Worst decision ever; we agreed we’d continue with the purchase.
My daughter showed her boss the following day and took it for a drive with him. They went on an A-road and took it up to 60mph (which we hadn’t done in the test drive as the dealership is surrounded by town roads). Once getting to this speed the car made a horrendous sound. Also, the engine kept cutting out randomly when braking and then starting again. It was taken to a garage in Cambridge for them to run a new MOT inspection. It failed on five issues. The fog light, a significant oil leak, two faulty brake bindings and a wheel bearing fault. We then found the MOT document from last year online and the oil leak had been highlighted as an advisory. Yet a week ago not only did it not fail on a significant oil leak, it wasn’t even listed as an advisory! (Nor was anything for that matter).
Swan Motors were contacted immediately and informed and the guy proceeded to dismiss it completely. After he spoke over my daughter several times, her boss took control of the conversation (she’d had her phone on speaker). Her boss was very fair but also got spoken over so this escalated into a tense conversation.
I have emailed the garage to express my dissatisfaction; pointed out that my daughter is only 19 and doesn’t have any other means of getting to work nor has the funds to repair the car. His reply was that as I wasn’t a customer he wouldn’t be responding to me! Great attitude!
So that’s where we are now. We have a Mini that is faulty with a dodgy MOT certificate and a dealership who will not take it back. I can’t understand why they would want to go through the hassle of the lengthy legal route (which we will win) instead of just returning the car for a refund - it would take ten minutes and they can then sell on to another unsuspecting customer. If they are so confident there is nothing wrong with the car, why won’t they take it back?…..
The owner will respond to this review no doubt, and make pathetic false comments. Just take a look at negative reviews he has on Google - I wish we had!!
In the meantime, I’ll make it my mission to expose this shoddy, deceitful dealership. AVOID!!!!!
