Expensive mistake
My car 2016 Peugeot 5008 has a blown head gasket and some drips of oil leaking from the engine but still running smoothly. I bought steel seal and followed the instruction video in their website. I left the car cool down overnight. The following morning I started the engine and the leak still persists. However, the coolant also started leaking profusely coming from engine. The problem has become worst! I brought the car to the mechanic and I they said there are lots of parts that need to be replaced. I ended up paying €1700 to change the blown gasket, water pump, timing blelt, alternator belt!
I put 4 star because it’s on going
I put 4 star because it’s on going, bought a Mazda 2 for £800 as a first car run around, driving home the over heating light was flashing on the dash unfortunately brought as seen, tried a few things flushed the coolant system checked thermostat, no difference still over heating, a friend of the family is a ex mechanic he had a look he said head gasket is blown garage quote £1271.00 plus vat to repair, was going to scrap the car but I thought I will try steel seal first, I’ve never used it before but for £45.00 I thought it’s worth a go, put the steel seal in following directions on the bottle, unfortunately didn’t realise it wasn’t compatible with red coolant which I had in the car, any way it hasn’t cured the promblem completely after 24 hours took the car out for a run drove for an hour before over heating, bare in mind the car would over heat with in 10 mins of driving before the steel seal, took it out for a second run last night drove for 1 hour 20 mins no over heating but still a slight loss of coolant so better again on 2nd run will try again tonight if still losing coolant will drain the system and try the steel seal again with water and not red coolant 🤞
Total scam
Total scam, it did not do anything but worsen the overheating problem. I ended up buying a head gasket to have it changed. Refund policy is a scam
I have used this on several vehicles…
I have used this on several vehicles for what has got to be well over ten years now, most it has worked on but some it hasn't...Absolutely no quibble when I've called/contacted them on any occasion, they will either refund you in full or you are free to try another bottle free of charge! I DO NOT understand where some of these other reviews (negative ones) have got there info from. This product and customer service have been awesome in my experience, using again today on my little Fiat Punto.
My car was having difficulties…
My car was having difficulties starting, smoking out white, low on acceleration power and consuming a lot of coolant. l went with it to a certain garage near by home, I returned the car four times to the garage after they failed to fix it and last time they said the head gasket needed to be replaced. I took my car home. So l came across steel and seal online and bought it and poured it in the car and after few hours the car was running fine upto date. No problems.

Don't bother it don't work waste of money cheaper to use k seal as you won't get your money back with steel seal. Email them get no reply call them get no where waste of £44.99
Used twice in 2 different cars
Used twice in 2 different cars. First was a Vectra with a h/g issue: - did nothing; zero. 2nd time it actually - would you believe - made the issue even worse than before. Absolutely scandalous product when the price and returns policy (which is a total con) are taken into account. Do not waste your money on this junk!
False Advertising, don't get conned
Says it has a lifetime warranty and money back guarantee but when you contact customer service they tell you it only applies if it's verified by a vat registered garage. No mechanic in there right mind would use this product and you would have to spend hundreds just to get your £50 back. I ended up stripping the engine myself only to find it had a minor gasket leak and there was no sign of the steel seal repairing the gasket. Replaced the gasket and it's fixed. Don't waste your money, you won't get it back. It's a con.
I’ve used SteelSeal 3 times on 2…
I’ve used SteelSeal 3 times on 2 different cars, every time it’s failed miserably despite its High cost. K-Seal fixed the car which is still running 30k later. K-Seal is less than half its price. SteelSeal have made it impossible to obtain a refund too !!! A Sham Product
Hudini product
has made no difference, again promise of refund in email but never actually got it, this company and product are trained by Houdini.
coincidence ? shock 20 minuets after leaving this blog I was refunded, thank you although I can still enlighten that the product never worked.

Tried this on 2 vehicles now,not worked!
Tried this on 2 vehicles now,one diesel, one petrol.both head gasket problems.never cured problem or even helped with any of these.used k seal a few times and I must say has always worked and is cheaper too. I know it is not the right way to repair a vehicle but some customers have not got the finances to repair the vehicle or only need a temporary repair to last a little time.don’t think I’ll use it again

Tried steel seal to rectify a head leak, followed instructions, did 15 miles it blew coolant out.Being a self employed mechanic I got the car back to my workshop only to find that the warranty requires a VAT garage to verify the claim.I'm not prepared to have the car transported again so warranty is worthless as I will do the repair myself.A large engine so three bottles of Steel Seal down the drain,be warned.
I had a nasty coolant into oil breach…
I had a nasty coolant into oil breach with my MGF HG, it lost 3 litres coolant into engine.
I thought due to age of car it has to be worth a shot. Purchased from local Halfords store.
Followed instructions, replaced oil, and flushed coolant as best I could.
let it warm up with product in system, then 30 mins fast idle.
It was miss firing sometimes but used no coolant in that period.
Let it cool down, and did 20 min test run, no miss fire, no coolant loss.
Checked again this morning. coolant not dropped, another test drive it ran perfectly, no coolant loss or miss fire.
I have to say I was a little sceptical, but it does seem to have solved my problem, will probably need another oil and filter change to remove mayo.
It has saved me a big headache, and expense.
I think you need to prep the car as much as possible for best results, and a few heat up, cool down cycles required, and over night I saw the biggest iprovement with miss fire gone.
Happy days so far and I would recomend this first before you splash the cash, or book the scrapper!!
Waste of a money.
Waste of a money.. didn't work in my case.. Money back is also a scam (its too difficult to get the document required, or the cost of review from mechanic is more expensive than the product).... don't waste your time and hope... after using this my car battry is gone too..
They sent me a free 2nd bottle as first…
They sent me a free 2nd bottle as first one I bought didn't fix the problem. Maybe I'm the 1 percent that it can't fix but going to try again. Pleased with the company honouring their guarantee.
It worked! Contact SS for advice before using!
So I have to say I’m genuinely surprised Steel Seal (SS) actually worked and fixed my head gasket (HG) issue. But below I’ll outline how I did it and give simplified information on the purpose of a HG.
The job of a HG is to create a seal between the head of the engine and the block and is to stop the oil, coolant and combustion/exhaust fumes from mixing. Your HG can fail at different points, hence the very many varying symptoms and why you won’t get them all.
Mine failed between coolant and combustion and so I was getting exhaust fumes/gas/bubbles in my coolant which lead to water/coolant coming out of my exhaust (thus coolant level requiring topping up every few days), pressurised coolant with this lead to coolant being pushed out into the engine bay and getting cold air from the heater into the cabin. I ran a liquid test and the fluid changed from blue to yellow, indicating exhaust fumes in coolant.
If you have this then it’s recommended checking your spark plugs to see if they’re wet. If none are, then run the engine and one by one remove the injector/spark plug and see if bubbles stop in the coolant. If you are able to pull one of these and see the bubbles stop, then it’s recommended using SS without this spark plug/injector. I followed this however I wasn’t able to see the bubbles stopping so I ran SS with all four plugs/injectors in place.
I first flushed out my coolant - you cannot use SS with long life coolant which most red coolants are. I also removed my thermostat which made it easier to get all the coolant out and flush the system; this also allows for good flow of SS through the system once you’re ready to run it. Once flushed, put it all back together without the thermostat, fill up your system with water, put in SS and run are stated on bottle. I sat and revved my engine at 2000-2500rpm to get it to temp quicker then let it sit for 30mins on my drive. When I came back the operating temperature had dropped so I revved it some more. I then switched engine off and let it sit for 30 mins then ran it again (revving with whole time) for another 30 mins to ensure it had been done properly. Once done, you’re meant to let it sit overnight (as per what SS state) but I’d read somewhere to leave it for 24 hours (most household sealants say this so my thinking was it makes sense to let it cure for this amount of time as a minimum). I in fact left it for 48 hours as I didn’t need my car, then removed the water/SS mix, put thermostat back in and filled with coolant. I bled the system then retested and results were telling me SS had worked ie blue liquid didn’t change colour. Drove around the next day and no HG failure symptoms present.
I do 40k miles a year and I think I’d be pleased if I got and extra 20-40k miles. I’d be overjoyed if I got 60k! I am hoping this is a permanent fix however I don’t think it will be, maybe it’s the pessimist within me or the fact that I’ve come across so many people stating this just isn’t the case. I do also accept that the HG could fail at another point eg between oil and coolant or even get the same symptoms again but it could have failed at a different point… how would I know without opening it up? I wouldn’t so I’d try SS again.
I’d recommend you contact SS directly about your symptoms (I did via email many times) and they’ll tell you exactly how best to run it. I got all the above info from them so it’s worth it.
Rubbish and just a big con
rubbish did not work and a mega hassle if you do get your money back,as they want proof of this and proof of that.its just a big con.would not recommend at all.buyers beware.could end up with more damage.
WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
I have used this now in 2 different cars, both with head issues. It didn't fix either of them. They claim its guaranteed to fix any car and they claim it works in 99%of cars so I must have been extremely unlucky to get the 2 cars in that 1% failure. Sadly the money garantee is nearly impossible to get it's not even worth bothering with and They don't state the terms and conditions on the bottle, use k-seal as a £10 fix8t may or may not fix it but it's cheaper than this rubbish.
