Following my experience with Sousa Law, I would not recommend the firm. After my original solicitor left, the service deteriorated significantly. Much of the work on my matter appeared to be carried out by a trainee, yet I was billed at £300 plus VAT per hour, which I felt did not reflect the level of work undertaken.

Communication became disappointing and I was left feeling that my concerns about costs and conduct were not properly addressed.

Overall, I did not receive the level of service I expected and I would actively avoid using this firm again. I would also encourage others to seek alternative legal representation

I've known Cathy and her team for over 15 years, initially through referring my own clients to them in a professional capacity. So when my own marriage sadly broke down, I had absolutely no hesitation in asking Cathy to represent me.

From start to finish, Cathy made what could have been an incredibly stressful process feel straightforward and manageable. The staff at Sousa Law were friendly and professional, particularly Catherine Sousa, and I appreciate the support provided during my case.
My concern is with the firm's charging structure. I was charged £350 per hour plus VAT for work that I considered to be routine administrative activities rather than substantive legal advice. The client care pack states that administrative tasks are chargeable, but I do not believe it clearly explains that such work may be charged at the full partner rate.
As a result, I was surprised by the level of some of the charges and would encourage prospective clients to ask for detailed clarification about billing practices before instructing the firm. Make sure you understand exactly what work will be charged, who will undertake it, and what hourly rate will apply.
Friendly people, but the lack of transparency around how some costs were applied left me disappointed.

I met with Cathy via Zoom for a meeting to discuss NCDR options. Cathy made the experience a relaxed one and put me at ease. She was extremely knowledgeable about the law surrounding family matters and understanding in her approach. They advised me the best solicitor for my case would be a solicitor called Emma. From the start I was greeted very well and Emma was very polite, particular to details and helped with evidence that would be important in my case. All pricing was discusses upfront and realistic forecasts of a timescale and cost were communicated with me well. Emma was extremely knowledgeable on what had to be done and how to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible. There was no delay in sorting everything out for me and I found the experiance less stressful than I thought it would be. Everything was taken care pf by them and explained very well. Emma was always on the phone or email updating me and making sure I knew what was going on. You really get what you pay for here and I can't put a price on the level of professionalism and knowledge from Emma and the team till the very end. I'd highly recommend Sousa law if you are reading this and do need a family solicitor.
