The salesman Rob was very helpful and not at all pushy, talked us through all aspects , helped with measuring and gave great advise.

Polite and very helpful in store and on the phone

Having visited six furniture stores in York looking for the ideal chair, myself and my sister were delighted with your store and available options for the armchair she required. But undoubtedly the deal was sealed by the salesman involved who was not only knowledgeable but wonderfully friendly in his manner. A refreshing change from some of the other stores!!!

Had a great experience when I was looking for a recliner sofa. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and soon found me what I required.

I ordered a sofa bed, recliner chair and footstool from scs york store in November 2025. I was given less than 48 hours notice for delivery and when i called their helpline the next day i was informed that i could not change the delivery date and had to accept the delivery date. On the day of the delivery (11/03/2026) the delivery men informed me that the sofa bed was not being delivered and if i wanted i could take delivery of the recliner chair and footstool which i agreed to and got it delivered.The delivery men then asked me to sign an electronic delivery acceptance form which they said was only for 2 items and not for the sofa bed. Within 5 minutes i receive an email from the company to say that all three items including the sofa bed had been delivered with an attached document containing my signature. I was shocked to say the least and i contacted the york store. I live in dumfries so buying it in such a far away store was a mistake.
I had to tell the york salesperson that i will complain to the police of fraud and then only he sent an email from the store to say that the sofa bed was not delivered. Its been now 2 days since that happened, i have rung the helpline and been on hold for more than one hour and been unable to contact anyone.
Frustrated i went to the Carlisle store where a salesperson has taken my details and has informed me that a regional manager will contact me. The whole purchase was nearly 3000 pounds and you are talking about a big sum of money.
I am still waiting to be contacted and be informed about when i will receive my sofa bed. I would say from my experience for other customers to be wary of scs sofas which has now been rebranded to poltronesofa. Dont be taken in by the big nice stores. Their customer service is left wanting and all in all a very unpleasant experience and very stressful. I felt cheated when i was sent an acknowlegdement to say that all 3 items were delivered when only two were actually delivered. I will update this if it gets resolved either in a positive or negative way. Update 24/03/26 - I have been reassured that the sofa will be delivered by the York store but no communication from the delivery team about this yet. The store manager at york has been helpful but I dont have my sofa as of yet. Ordered it in Late November last year - still waiting

UPDATE 30/03/2026 - I was sent a sofa bed with a completely different colour after having taken another day off. Completely disappointed again. So still waiting after 5 months. If there was a way of giving ZERO STARS I would have given it. Asked them to take it back and send me the colour that i ordered. No word as of yet.
UPDATE 03/05/2026 - After much to and fro between myself and the York store I finally took delivery of the sofa bed which was not the same design but a similar one. It was the same colour and it was delivered. The Salesperson and the store manager at York were actually very helpful and helped me with getting the order to my home

The company has gone from 5 star to one star in the course of a couple of weeks due to the lack of response to our emails.
The settee in our suite is not what we ordered due to the salesman ordering it incorrectly, which he has admitted to, a minor detail being the omission of 2 letters in italics at the end of the reference number!
After over a month of promises to sort this matter out, nothing in writing, we believe that they intend to do nothing but are unable to even get a reply from store or customer service.
It seems that they have decided to just ignore us.
Beware of this company which were great until a problem created by them has it seems been passed on to the customer as we approved a order sent via email which has the letters missing, letters that we did not even know existed nor their salesman!
I would advise anyone that deals with this company not to or to get everything in writing and check as far as you can all the details although this would not of helped us at all.
It’s a pity because prior to this our experience was good but they are now hiding behind technicalities, buyer beware
Update 3rd March
Look forward to hearing from store where we have been waiting for contact for over 3 weeks to explain situation change from agreeing that they ordered the wrong settee to not interested as we approved the order!!
As the salesman thought he had ordered correctly, and there is no detail, other than letters in italics, on the order which have no explanation as to their meaning how would we know of your error until delivery?
This was not a problem as you proposed to replace it with the correct settee as it was your mistake but now have apparently reneged on this and intend to do nothing.
Will see if store now responds.

Called in store Wednesday 4th march but manager not present but rang me on Thursday saying bad news as he had been overruled and company intended to do nothing!!
He will email with all details on reason for the decision, still waiting!! Another week goes by.

Helpful, friendly delivery guys, excellent service in store and a lovely comfy sofa!

Delighted with my delivery this morning. The delivery guys were brilliant! Very polite and respectful of my property, and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. A credit to your company! Thank you.

Wayne at scs York, was a pleasure to deal with and great help in us choosing our sofa and chair, the delivery team were excellent and respectful of our property and new sofa and chair, they explained everything thoroughly.

Delivery came when expected, a courtesy call beforehand was received, the lads were friendly and efficient, adding the feet and putting together the sofa.

Lee in the store was a perfect mixture of attentive but not pushy. Cat chat was an additional bonus!
A shout out too to Marvin and Harry who delivered and put everything together.
Altogether a really good experience. Thank you!

Plenty of choice both in style and fabric. Really helpful staff in store. There is a problem with the SCS website so tracking of orders is not possible, this really needs to be fixed!
Delivery crew were great, quick, clean, polite and answered all questions we had.

My elderly dad ordered a recliner chair back in November. It arrived this week and it is the wrong colour. Spoke to the salesman who admitted it may have been his fault. However they will not exchange. Very poor show.

The gents were very quick and efficient and found a solution to getting the suite into the property without to much hassle and the service we received from the sales man at York was excellent

The two settles we were expecting to be delivered today weren't on the delivery van .All we got was a leather care kit We have been in touch with SCS store in York and the settees are still in their premises.
Since writing the above review we later found that SCS staff at York did their utmost to deliver the goods within 2 days to our satisfaction. This does not, of course, bring back the time & effort in making our rearrangements, but we are therefore content to change the review upwards to 3 stars. Thank you Peter & Barbara DEAN
