We used Rickshaw Travel for the first time to plan a two-week holiday to Japan in May 2026. We were three school friends, in our early 80's, and naturally, we had our reservations.

After my initial phone call with David at Rickshaw when I gave him a basic idea of things we wanted to include, length of the holiday and budget, we took a back seat. David came up with full itinerary, suggestions, hotels, excursions, etc. He also reassured us that we would be fine with public transport.

The locations of all the hotels were excellent, right by the train station, other transport means and restaurants. We were very happy with our accommodation.

The Guides were great, very helpful/accommodating and gave us recommendations for additional sight seeings. We had to contact Rickshaw's local agent HIS in Japan a couple of times and they managed to solve our problems very promptly.
A WiFi unit was available for our use throughout and this was a very great asset and a must.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Rickshaw Travel and would gladly use them again.

Rickshaw Travel organised the most wonderful tour in India for me and my sister.
The places we stayed in were first rate. Always spotless with the most friendly staff and wonderful food.
We had the most experienced driver from Delhi to Jaipur called Ali. I have never witnessed such skill and competence in a driver on such tricky and sometimes dangerous roads. We felt very safe with him. He also spoke perfect English so we chatted all the way.
The tour guides were first rate too, bursting with information about the sights we saw and made the visits so interesting for us. Their English was top rate too.
The overnight train ride from Agra to Varanasi was a real treat as it hurtled along at top speed throughout the night.
Varanasi was an absolute delight with early morning live music followed by a 6.00am yoga class with over 100 people every morning. The hotel was on the banks of the Ganges and once again had wonderful staff, and terrific food.
We even found a bar around the corner where we could go and have a cold beer in the evening and watch all the hustle and bustle go by.
We had a really brilliant time. Thank you very very much.

I was looking for a travel company to help me put together a very special trip to Sri Lanka, which had to be designed around revisiting all the best that the island can offer in 2026 and what I can remember myself and from cine film and transparencies from the early 1960's when my family lived in Colombo and spent much time touring the island and especially the East Coast beaches and hill country. I contacted so many companies who really just wanted to shoehorn me into prearranged holidays and telling me to just stay in the South West beach resorts. And then there was Rickshaw Travel, they listened, they were interested and within a few weeks we had a very good itinerary. We had a budget and we were not time limited as we are retired, so we came in under budget and including travel time it was all packed into 18 days.
Every step of the journey they went out of their way to help me achieve my goals and where they couldn't move heaven and earth to fit my requirements they either offered alternative solutions or we left some specifics til we were 'on the ground' and our incredible Driver/Guide Chanaka would usually work his magic and make the impossible entirely possible!
I would definitely recommend Rickshaw as the starting point and not waste time with the competition as their whole concept and website is just a joy to use.
We stayed at 10 amazing hotels with Deer Park (Giritale), 98 Acres (Ella), Wild Trails (Yala), the Radh (Kandy) and Galle Face (Colombo) as the top five but not one was a disappointment or bad choice. The quality of service, food, setting, accommodation was entirely exceptional and we can only thank the Rickshaw team in the UK and in Sri Lanka for making our dreams come true.

Rickshaw Travel helped to arrange an amazing 18-day trip to China, truly memorable! They provided just the right amount of support and back-up - arranging all the flights, internal travel (including the incredible bullet train) and hotels, after Rob spent time talking to us first, which took a lot of the stress out of the plans. They included a brilliant cooking class in Dali, and cycle ride in Lijiang, but the rest of the time was up to us. China hosts Charmission were fantastic, and so supportive, arranging all our guides and pick-ups from stations and airports. The hotels were just the kind of places we would have booked ourselves - and eating out every night, often very cheaply, was a highlight of our adventures!

We booked our Greek road trip through Rickshaw and found that they offered the perfect balance of support and independence that we were looking for. Normally we don't use an agent but Kelly from Rickshaw offered first class advice on accommodation, routes and places to visit along the way, as well as organising airport transfers, a cooking course, a walking tour in Athens, a wine tasting and a tour of an Ouzo distillery. For us it was a real luxury to use them and their Greek agent also contacted us to say they were always available if we needed extra help etc.
Kelly was so friendly, never failed to get back to us and offered excellent advice including a stay in Monemvasia which we hadn't even considered beforehand.
Our holiday was a perfect mix for us of visiting ancient sites (The Parthenon, Delphi, Olympia and Epidavros), driving through and staying in the mountains (based at Dimitsana) and finally heading to coast - Monemvasia and Nafplion.
May is a perfect month to go to the Peloponnese, with temperatures in the low 20's, wild flowers in abundance and driving a pleasure with very quiet, well maintained roads. The people were friendly and welcoming and most places were quiet (probably more than usual due to the Iran war putting people off). The mainland of Greece is vast, plenty of space to explore and be away from the crowds.

Just back from our 2nd trip to Costa Rica with Rickshaw travel. Another amazing experience, this time on the ‘Roads less travelled’ itinerary. From the early stages of planning the trip with Hannah, to arriving in San Jose, then all the different fantastic locations and included tours, everything worked seemlessly. We love the way you can get inspiration from their ‘bite-size trips’ but personalise how you put the holiday together, how long you stay in each place and the style of accommodation. Hannah listened so carefully to our ideas and helped us put together the perfect trip for a special birthday! The included tours were fabulous, with knowledgeable guides and small groups - we saw the rare and beautiful Resplendent Quetzals in the mountains and dolphins and turtles on a boat trip at the coast! We also love their choice of accommodation, often run by local families in stunning locations. A magical experience from start to finish and we hope to go again soon .

The trip was great, as expected!
It was well put together by Rickshaw travel, this is the second major trip we've entrusted to them and they've not let us down! All our accommodation was just as we expected, and the logistics were spot on with all our connections and travel arrangements going exactly to plan. They were even able to accommodate our daughter joining us half way through our trip. The insider knowledge Rickshaw utilise is invaluable. Their links with Vietnamese agents, meant we never felt as though we missed out on any highlights, and were always able to find out about hidden gems of places to go and experiences to try.

Some of the highlights being:
The Vietnamese people, without exception they were always helpful and eager to share their beautiful country and culture with us, and were really delighted at our attempts to speak the language and try their traditional foods and activities.
Vietnamese Coffee in all its forms is delicious!
The Home stay in Sapa - This was really interesting and it was an actual family home we stayed in, we were able to practice our very basic Vietnamese and were taught how to count properly by a 4 year old! The treks through the rice fields and mountains were amazing. It gave us an insight into the daily life of rural Vietnam and the Red Mong ethic group.
The Hi Giang Loop was a once in a lifetime experience! Incredible views and it was tailored to our needs by our personal drivers/guides. Their insider knowledge was really useful and they took us off the beaten track to some really interesting places and to try traditional dishes that we wouldn't have known of.
Ha Long Bay is an incredible natural phenomena, and the experience of staying on the water was lovely.
Hanoi old town is an experience in itself, the hustle and bustle and the shear number of people and motorbikes in the crowded streets is something to enjoy, once you have worked out how to cross the road! It also felt a very safe place to be with an array of cafes and eateries serving numerous versions of traditional dishes at incredibly cheap prices!
We highly recommend Rickshaw Travel if you want a tailor made adventure to a place you've never been before!

Although we had left it quite late to book our 4 week trip, Gemma and the team at Rickshaw did a great job in putting together a personalised package which included 10 flights and a couple of coach transfers.
Rickshaw understood our requirements well, we did not want 5 Star accommodation, but favoured hotels or stays with character. Even a very late switch to spend 2 nights in Valparaiso rather than one was easily and efficiently rescheduled.
This was an amazing holiday, with such contrasts including beautiful Buenos Aires, the end of the world in Ushuaia, stunning glaciers and treks in Patagonia, bohemian Valparaiso, Geysers moonscapes and an astronomical treat in Atacama, horse riding followed by the very best Asado steaks in Salta, and finally the remarkable Iguazu Falls, seen from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides.
A fantastic holiday… thanks Rickshaw, we will be back to arrange our trip to Vietnam & Cambodia in 2027.

My 3rd Rickshaw holiday. - this time 4 packages across Brazil. Their area specialists are very helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and all the local ground agents are top class. I love the flexibility to add or take out elements within the packages to tailor make perfectly to my wishes. A major benefit for me as an experienced traveller is that I don’t have a tour manager, local guide and driver with me all the time at huge expense and can explore places and things that I want to rather than being on a rigid prescriptive schedule. Thank you Rickshaw for another excellent trip.

Our 12 days in Japan have been an amazing adventure which, at times, was reminiscent of The Race Across the World, having to navigate the Japanese transport systems to ensure we got to the right accommodation at the right time. Rickshaw Travels’ arrangements for our ‘Taste of Japan’ holiday were faultless. The accommodation was a good balance of western style accommodation and traditional Japanese which enabled us to sample the food and customs of the land. Their planning of our journeys through the transport system was impeccable and once we had acquired our JR passes and learnt how to navigate railway stations, we were away. The Hakone and Koyasan passes enabled us to travel on the local buses and cable cars and the WIFI gadget, giving us access to data, was a gift to navigation! The selected locations gave us a fantastic ‘Taste of Japan’!

Kelly listened to what we wanted to get out of our trip to Costa Rica. I told her we had a bit longer than 2 weeks and wanted to see both Caribbean and Pacific coasts (plus animals and adventure, travelling with our 11 year old). Other companies literally email you their standard itinerary, and/or don’t show much interest unless you are a discerning traveller. Kelly was really happy to chat it all through, she has the local knowledge having been there many times, and explained all the things which were possible, along with places which could be trickier or more expensive to get to. From there we could make our minds up depending on our spend level. A truly memorable trip. Make sure you ask for prices of different room types if travelling as a family as most standards rooms/cabins are fine but some can be small. It is worth paying a bit more for a decent hotel in La Fortuna as some are on the main road instead of in the lush tropical rainforest which is all around you.

RIckshaw and its local partners did an incredible job to develop and support our trip to Costa Rica. They identified brilliant guides who helped us to access beautiful national parks and really appreciate nature’s abundance. Logistics were flawless. This is the second time we have used Rickshaw and we will be doing so again. Highly recommended!

Fabulous trip to Morocco planned for us by Ceri who tailored the trip perfectly to our requests. We travelled around a lot and every accommodation was lovely, every connection perfect with friendly and helpful transfer drivers, hoteliers and guides throughout. Would highly recommend

This was our 4th trip with Rickshaw. After our original holiday plans were cancelled (middle east issues) we needed to make new plans at short notice. Emma was great and got a new trip booked for us to Morocco. We had a great time visiting all the imperial cities plus other locations.
