Left With a public highway damage bill and No Accountability
I was initially happy with the work, but unfortunately I have now been left in a very difficult situation.
During the project, different contractors were working at the property at different times as Harry arranged different contractors to work with him es. I have since received a £551 bill from the council for alleged damage and replacement of paving slabs outside my property during the period the building works were taking place.
When I raised this with Harry, the manager, he simply told me that he would not pay it because he did not do it. However, I don’t know who carried out the alleged work either, as several different contractors were involved at different stages.he is the one who arranged other contractors therefore he should have taken responsibility as we have signed a contact with him.
The council has confirmed that they do not have photographic evidence showing who actually carried out the work, but they are still holding us responsible as the homeowners and asking us to pay the bill.
I am very disappointed to have been left to deal with this when I relied on the company to manage the contractors working on my property. I would have expected the company to investigate which contractor was responsible and assist with resolving the matter, rather than simply saying they did not do it and leaving us with the bill.
