Pratpack at Plymouth Arena
Attended the Pratpack show at this venue which was brilliant. However I cannot say the same for the venue. The seats were uncomfortable with many held together with black duck tape. The floor was sticky obviously having drink spilt on it over time. It all needed a complete refurb. The only new thing about it was the change in name to Plymouth Arena. I wasn’t allowed to take in my plastic bottle of water even though I said I’d tip it out! But I would be allowed to buy water inside. Please advise the mentality of that! What was the danger in a plastic water bottle and a 70 year old lady!!!
Sorry Plymouth Arena but the Theatre Royal wins hands down.
Ticket Purchase
would like to write review but ticket booking process is garbage so cannot get wife’s Christmas weekend away I want. even when you try to complain you get automated reply directing to same place it is impossible (for me) to use. Poor website, poor ticket agency, poor customer service
Bad seating experience at 10cc concert on 14th…
Bad experience at 10cc concert on 14th March with moved seating. Booked seats moved to worse area 30 minutes before doors open and basically told take it or leave it at the box office. Complained after warm up act and moved to vacant seats after people walked out, still bad seats. Never experienced this before at any concert ever ! 10cc amazing, Plymouth Arena let them and us down badly. Not sure we will ever go there again as can't trust them to move us again for future acts. Shame on you.
First visit to Plymouth Pavilions … won’t return if I can help it.
First visit to Plymouth Pavilions to see 10CC. What a dreadful venue. I was expecting the same standard as Hall for Cornwall in Truro where I go frequently. It is just awful. The tiered seating is uncomfortable, small, tatty, fixed with black gaffer tape. The stairs up weren’t lit in any way. The rows and seat numbers cannot be easily seen. It felt generally old, tatty and dirty.
The flat seats appeared to be black plastic and didn’t look at all comfortable. There was no atmosphere either.
We could see the audience in the flat spaces filming the act and the staff were marching around telling them to stop, why didn’t they announce it at the beginning?
Bags were searched on the way in and all bottles taken away, including personal ones. The door staff were very brusque.
To top all of this it was the most money I had paid to see a band £55. Hall for Cornwall last year, same band, £40. Absolute disgrace.
Unfortunately I have purchased tickets for another act later in the year, if I could cancel them I would. Dreadful venue. Would definitely not recommend.

Do not buy tickets from Plymouth Pavilions!
I recently tried to buy tickets to Alan Carr for October 2027. After going on the Alan Carr website, finding the event and clicking through, I landed on the Plymouth Pavilions website. It allowed me to pick my seats and make a purchase.
I then received a confirmation email for Australian Pink Floyd in November 2026 and it charged me £254!
I immediately raised this issue with Plymouth Pavilions, TicketTek (the third party company Pavilions use for tickets) and Refundme (the refund insurance company, as I had bought refund insurance with the tickets). Tickettek told me it was an issue with the site so I need to complain to Plymouth Pavilions, Refundme said I had no legitimate claim for a refund as it doesn't meet their terms (i.e Death, COVID, redundancy etc..) and Plymouth Pavilions are denying they miss-sold me the tickets.
I even provided Plymouth Pavilions with proof, including internet history that showed my journey from the Alan Carr website, the Pavilions website, to picking the seat and payment and even showed them the confirmation of the Australian Pink Floyd show.
Their enquiries team are suggesting I made the purchase purposely and are advising I resell them to someone else!
Great place to watch the best shows
Was really looking forward to it but…
Was really looking forward to it but they cancelled the gig.
Broken seat
Broken seat. A great concert made miserable by poor seating.

Awful acoustics/sound system
Here to see Badly Drawn Boy and Squeeze. Really awful sound system/sound engineer/ speakers. Hurting my ears with constant high pitched sound interference. Avoid!
Pavilions is a joke!!!! 30/10/24
Watched Paul Smith 30/10/24
Whilst Paul was amazing. The pavilions however was not!! Complete joke. Delayed opening of entrance then masses wanting drinks obviously at the bar including ourselves as not allowed to bring a bottle of water in yourselves. Just completely ruined by incompetent security staff.
Unable to get a drink at all.
Then in break.. again unable to get any refreshments whatsoever! Total of 4 hours with no drink. No working vending machines and not even able to purchase a bottle of water. Queuing was outside the main entrance in the break for the bar.
Again due to timings and complete incompetence, no drink again purchased. The fact we was not allowed to purchase any drink was obserd and dam right disgusting in a 4 hour period!

A bit of a swimming pool of a venue
A bit of a swimming pool of a venue. Poor sound and an excessively drunk crowd rather spoilt our evening. Does any venue really need to sell Prosecco by the pint?!
Money grabbing venue with derisory…
Money grabbing venue with derisory staffing levels and stupid rules. Can’t even take an empty water bottle in. Rudeness at every turn. Rip off fees when booking tickets.
Recently went to the Pavilions to see…
Recently went to the Pavilions to see Michael Mcintyre, which was brilliant and great seats!
However not a great experience entering the building, throw water away I understand that, but to have to bin my stainless steel bottle was a big shock, asked if I could just empty this out, told no,asked if I could leave at reception no,didn't have time to go to the car!!
After reading on the Pavilion site could not see anything reference water,no glass, weapons ect!! Little disappointed as I've taken this on a plane so another expensive to buy another one!!
Then you queue to buy water from a machine feet from entrance which only take cash, tickets bought on line,so scrambling around for change in purse a joke which was £2.50,so a kind elderly lady put 70p towards my water, extremely kind!
I did write to the CEO regarding this issue but no response, not helpful at all. It should be stipulated on website or tickets, big disappointment on that!!
But postive Michael Mcintyre was outstanding very good.
Poor Sound Quality. Don't Waste Your Money!
Went to see The Proclaimers late last year. The sound quality was definitely lacking - loudness over quality. We were on the floor pretty close to the stage. Gave the venue the benefit of the doubt.
Went to see Mike & The Mechanics in May this year. We were further back in the raised seats. The sound quality was very poor. Again, loudness over quality. Couldn't work out what they were saying!
Complained at half time.
Complained by email after. An obscene wait followed - "investigating your complaint" - "want the right person to reply" - a load of nonsense. They eventually blamed Mike's engineers (not his mechanics) - they always blame the touring engineers. They could have done that quickly instead of making me wait weeks and weeks for a reply! I bet they get a load of complaints and have a system in place to frustrate in the hope the complainer just gives up.
People spend their hard-earned money during hard times - they deserve much better.
I'm never go back. Believe the negative reviews online. Don't waste your money - I wasted mine.
Terrible seating ruined exoerience
The show 'Cirque' was really good, but the seats in the tiered section are appalling. No leg room, seat covers warn and tatty. Have never been so uncomfortable at an entertainment venue.
Could understand bag search for security but not being allowed to bring an unopened bottle of water into the venue or a chocolate bar, which were both on sale at inflated prices inside was petty and cruel. Then having purchased a bottle of water the staff removed and kept the bottle cap meaning I had to hold an open bottle of water throughout the show. So apologies to the cast of the show but it's impossible to clap when one hand is holding an open bottle of water.
Will definitely not be going there again
Love the venue
This venue gets a fair bit of flack for poor sound but l'm very glad to have it in our city and have seen some great bands there, the staff are also really good and helpful so no complaints from me! The sound varies from band set up, sometimes excellent, occasionally not so.
Me and my husband paid full price to see Maddog Mcrea
Me and my husband paid full price to attend Maddog St Patricks day special .We had a wonderful time which ended bad as my husband was going in and out with his tickets as proof all night to smoke and we got about a hour from the end and he was not allowed back in he was not even aloud to get his drink he just bought. He could not contact me as his phone had no reception and he still wasnt allowed back in to tell me here he was so missed the best part. Lucky im ok on my own however it happened to lots of people who went out and apparently one bouncer called the police .Also one women left on her own had a panic attack when she couldnt find her husband. Its not fair we paid full price and we didnt get to see the end together not happy at all !!!.All they could say was we were told that but we where not told as he wouldnt have gone out.
