Kim Elliott acted on our behalf with the purchase of our recent property. She was brilliant, super friendly, super efficient and made sure the purchase was completed quickly, kept us informed at all times, highly delighted with the service provided

John Taylor is exceptional!
He acted for me and my partner with the purchase of our first house. He kept us updated throughout and explained everything in detail. He is thorough, very friendly and extremely professional. We cannot thank him enough! We were able to complete our initial forms electronically meaning we didn’t have to go into the office which is so convenient as we work full time 9-5. We received frequent calls and emails with updates and confirmation of the next steps.
We will be recommending John and Pepperells to all our friends and family for conveyancing transactions.

Worst company in the world I paid for…
Worst company in the world I paid for something I never received the solicitor left then they sent me an additional bill for something they didn’t even do now they are threatening court and legal action against me to pay fees. I don’t even owe they can’t provide proof and continues to bully me. Avoid

I sincerely wish I had read the reviews on this website and never contacted this company.
No return calls and numerous unreplied to e mails.
Attended to by a "trainee solicitor" after they told me he was a "junior solicitor"
Hidden costs.
5 months to complete sale.
Discrepancies in contract conditions.
I personally would never recommend this company to anybody.

Avoid This Firm! Mishandling of Estate Caused Distress and Loss

I had the absolute worst experience with this firm when they were handling a family member's estate. Here's what happened:

Privacy Violations: They shared confidential details with someone who had no right to that information.
Sloppy Work: They didn't bother to check my status as a beneficiary, even though I had proof, and just listened to another person's baseless claims. They even got my name wrong on the initial paperwork, and after I pointed it out, they never even called back to confirm the correction.
Lost Assets: Because they prematurely closed the account, important documents and potentially even assets are now missing.
Ignoring Complaints: To make matters worse, they've completely ignored my official complaint about their mishandling of the situation.
Unhelpful Advice: When I pushed them to actually do their job, I was told to go to the Citizens Advice Center instead!
This whole mess cost us time, money, and a lot of emotional stress. If you're looking for a firm to handle an estate, I strongly urge you to steer clear of this one. I have evidence available to support my claims

Unresponsive conveyancers. Messed up my completion statement and now claim I owe them hundreds of pounds.
Avoid!

Used for conveyancing. Offer accepted on a cash buy basis 6 months ago. No chain anywhere. Natasha Setterfield of Pepperells seems completely unwilling to engage with us in anyway. Go elsewhere. One star too many.

Legal aid and human rights do not exist anymore. Now 4+ years police investigation still ongoing and should admit they are corrupted as it looks like I am not been represented anymore? I don't think Joe Painter pushed Helen hard enough to get things done and get the case closed. Why won't Helen Shackleton or Humberfail police close the investigation? Are they scared they will be prosecuted? Overall you are 💩 solicitors unless ££££s are paid. Very poor police defence only did it for the £s DO NOT USE!

Utterly useless conveyancing service.

We had Charlotte represent us buying our first property, so we were a little clueless about terminology etc.

She was willing to explain what terms were after we chased with several emails asking for clarification.

We picked them because they have offices in our city, so if there was any issues we could drop in for a chat. However they assigned us a solicitor in another city over an hour away.

Communication seems to be more of a concept than an action they take.

On the initial quote there was a page of potential additional charges, these were not confirmed as to which applied until the final bill arrived on the day were meant to be exchanging contracts. We had charges over double than expected the week of completion, this stress and scramble for cash could have been avoided with communication earlier. (If you want to pay part of the bill by credit card this takes 2 days to process and will delay your completion date)

On the day we were exchanging contracts and the day we were completing we had to send 8+ emails asking for an update with no communication. If you need an urgent email responding to, cc in the Ben Pepperell (Director).

On the day we were paying the deposit/bill I called to confirm the account details (which everyone recommends to do to reduce fraud and it is also listed on their email communication) my solicitor gave a big sigh and then an exasperated OK. Not the response I expect from someone I am about to send a very large sum of money to.

I wouldn't recommend them to anyone in all honesty. Thank god for our estate agent, Angie at Starkey & Brown who lit a fire beneath Pepperells whenever we needed it.

Goes from bad to worse.
Told on the 16th will send information by COB tomorrow. Still not received nearly 1 week later. Not once has anything been actioned on time, if actioned at all. Totally incompetent company. & I still stand by my claim they coach and help lie to gain legal aid customers.
Update 2nd November still waiting for information from middle of Octobed, the court also advised pepperells solicitor Amy Wells to correct her clients statement to cafcass as was proven to have lied! Still waiting for this to be done. Only use pepperells if you have all the time in the world to wait.

Beyond useless…Driven by greed and shackled by incompetence. Family partner wanted my bank statements. In house barrister was totally out of his depth being outwitted by a Cafcass worker… you know where this is going… 1Star too many!

I was represented in family law by Emily Bailey. The day before we was due to attend court for a finally order she told me she would no longer be able to attend. Leaving me unrepresented.I would not recommend this firm for anybody wanting a solicitor. They do not do things to a time scheduled by the court either and your left chasing them constantly

I approached Pepperells solicitors hull office to buy my council house in December 2022 and up to now haven't finished the process yet. A friend who used different solicitors after me their process did not take that long they finalised their purchase early this year. Mine it's still dragging over 10 months. I don't even what's required which take long like that. I used to ring the office the receptionist will make me spell my name and spell my address and email address only to be told the person dealing with your case is not in. They will ring you back. Farhan never returns your call. He replies your
third email. I would rather loose the money I paid and start the process with new solicitors.

Useless as a conveyancing firm. No replies to calls, emails. No sense of urgency. I'm in week 21 of my purchase with no end in sight and no reasons why. I am in a very short chain with no complications. Avoid, avoid, avoid

In my experience they are not upfront about costs. They do not represent you. If you do have any dealings with them I would record every conversation on a voice recorder. Or I believe they they distort what has been said

Refused to help me because I am Russian. Actively racist and lack compassion.

Before you use or go up against these solicitors please I urge you to watch YouTube lightnothate.
They construct a text book recital of lies and corruption in order to destroy families without a care for the welfare of the children involved. Save families do not destroy them!

I have only just recovered enough to be able to mentally mention my experience. Very very poor please steer clear of this company. My Sale & Purchase did not go ahead due to the stress this company caused. They never communicated everything was bad. The file did not even get looked at for 2 weeks. I do not know how they still get any customers. They very happily took my hard earned money though.

Very poor service, needed a solicitor as my usual one wasn’t available for the date needed. Was assigned a junior who was very unprofessional sending me emails in the early hours of the morning (in between 12-4) charged me for him missing appointments with me and replying to emails that I had sent asking why. When asking why I had been charged for a lot of extra work that hadn’t been carried out no one got back in touch to discuss. I have been charged a large sum for a service that was poor and unprofessional
