Worked with both Will Timms and Mathew Rimmer at Pengillys and and I have to say they were absolutely brilliant. Just completed a conveyance and their communications was excellent, their advice sound and they were very timely in answering any questions I had. This came off the back of a terrible conveyancer we initially used from another firm. What a relief to find individuals and a firm which were professional and top notch.

Matthew Rimmer a property solicitor based in Weymouth is very talented indeed. We have bought and sold many commercial premises since 2013 and were lucky enough to find Matthew . He is professional, trustworthy and straightforward. He has been supportive and responsive every time we have needed his professional advice. We would not hesitate to recommend him and will use him again in our property deals next year. Thanks again Matthew.

In my opinion solicitors should write the truth, especially partners. At Pengillys Mr Guppy, the senior partner, and Mr Watson, the complaints partner, did not do this. Both are no longer in post. Mrs Foot replaced Mr Watson as complaints partner and had trouble with the truth too. In awarding significant compensation, the Legal Ombudsman wrote: “I felt the firm’s service was unreasonable because their explanations in the complaint responses have changed multiple times”. Pengillys do not apologise.

Some people report good experience on conveyancing but that was not what I saw. In awarding significant compensation against Pengillys, the Legal Ombudsman wrote: “Overall, there have clearly been delays and a lack of proactivity from the firm throughout and that this does amount to unreasonable service”. Pengillys do not apologise.

Pengillys break the law with respect to data protection and send out the personal and financial information of one of their clients to me when I am not even a client of the firm. It should be the first rule of solicitors that they respect client confidentiality. They also co-mingle client files and send the file out in that state.

For all these reasons, I cannot recommend them. They do not acknowledge they have done anything wrong, which is why it had to go to the Legal Ombudsman for a decision.
