Ocean Estate Agents have been selling Bristol and North Somerset homes of all shapes and sizes – large and small, grand ¬and modest, smart and not so smart… for all kinds of people since 1984. Founder Paul Harris started the business over 40 years ago with Ocean Bishopston on Gloucester Road, and there are now 12 local offices across the city including one in Portishead and Weston super Mare. Their ethos is very much ‘people before property’, with the emphasis on looking after the individuals and families buying or selling their homes, to make what is often a challenging experience, as worry-free as possible. Ocean’s teams, reflect the culturally rich communities of this wonderful city, spanning a diverse mix of ages and backgrounds from across Bristol. It is also very much a family business. House was damaged during a viewing.
After house was sold unable to contact move manager on phone. Email responses were rude and unhelpful. We were told sale should take up to 14 weeks whole process took 5 months with no explanations as to why it was taking so long. When contacted to explain changes in personal circumstances no concern or response from agents.

In relation to viewing feedback, we are sorry to learn of your frustration that the level of feedback provided was not what you expected. We have also reviewed your concerns regarding damage during a viewing. Having spoken with the colleagues who conducted the viewings, no damage was reported to us at the time. The only issue recalled was that some cushions and a doorstop had been moved. Had any damage been brought to our attention, we would have investigated and sought an appropriate resolution.
We are particularly sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the communication you received during the sales progression stage. Following concerns raised, your file was reassigned as you no longer wished to deal with your original Move Manager. Our review shows that regular and accurate updates were provided. We accept and are sorry you feel your personal circumstances were not acknowledged as sympathetically as they could have been. We recognise that the way information is communicated is just as important as the information itself, and we regret that you felt unsupported.
Regarding the 14-week timeframe, at this time, this reflects the average timescale for a straightforward transaction with no chain involvement. Transactions involving a chain can take significantly longer, and we appreciate your comments that your expectations did not align with the eventual timescale achieved. We understand your frustration regarding the length of time the transaction took to complete. Delays arose from factors outside our control, including the release of funds by the buyer's Lifetime ISA provider. Unfortunately, neither we nor the solicitors involved were able to obtain a guaranteed completion date during this period, despite actively seeking updates.
While we are pleased that the sale ultimately completed successfully, we recognise that the process was more stressful than it should have been and that our communication did not always meet the standards you expected. Your feedback has been shared with the relevant teams and will be used to help improve our service going forward.

We were particularly concerned to read your comments regarding the way you were spoken to when contacting our office. Providing a friendly and professional service is something we take great pride in, and this is regularly reflected in the positive reviews we receive from our customers. We therefore regret that your perception was different and that you felt our approach fell short on this occasion.
Having reviewed your file, however, we were surprised by your comments regarding the level of support provided. Our records show that your agent remained heavily involved throughout the transaction, making numerous calls, providing regular assistance, and carrying out multiple home visits to help resolve issues as they arose. Members of the team worked closely with you over an extended period to help progress the matter and support the transaction through to a successful completion.
We appreciate that buying and selling property can be a stressful process and that delays or complications can sometimes create the impression that insufficient progress is being made. In many cases, parts of the legal and conveyancing process are outside of an estate agent's direct control, although we will always do our best to assist and keep matters moving wherever possible.
Whilst we are sorry that your overall perception of our service was disappointing, we would like to thank you for your business and are pleased that we were ultimately able to help bring the transaction to a successful conclusion.

Mark and his team in Shirehampton made selling so easy! I didn’t have much luck with another agent, switched and then sold within 2 weeks! They were much more professional than the previous agent and communication was great!

Well from start to finish was a terrible experience. Moved in house was not clean dirty and asked for it to be cleaned. Not ever done. Maintenance on property was not done with leak in ceiling and mould.Would never want to rent through ocean ever again. Poor experience. Poor communication. Avoid

Great service and team
The Ocean Clifton team was helpful from the start. All the team members were very experienced and went out of their way to help out, even when we had difficulties with our solicitors. Fantastic Experience Buying Our First Home
We had an excellent experience purchasing our first home with Ocean Estate Agents. From our initial viewing through to completion, the whole process was handled professionally, and we always felt well informed.
A special thank you to Julie Bridges, who kept us updated throughout the purchase and was always approachable, responsive and proactive. We’d also like to thank Andy Burge for his support and guidance during the process. Both were a pleasure to deal with and helped make what could have been a stressful experience much smoother.
