Good, but far from perfect
After using newyorkgrocery for several months, I am generally satisfied. The orders are usually delivered on time, and the drivers are invariably friendly.
However, more than once--today, for instance--items have been missing from my order, or the wrong items have been sent. I hope these matters can be corrected in the future.
Also, almost every time I order, I receive a polite phone call from newyorkgrocery telling me several items I ordered are not available. I know that keeping an inventory is not simple, and maybe this sort of thing can't be avoided, but it is annoying.
On a grade system, I would give newyorkgrocery a B+.

I ordered clear cups but didn't get that plus the cranberry juice was smaller then I thought as well

Revised: Warm Beer
I wrote a glowing review of NYCG because my first two orders for beer - which were needed in a pinch for drop-in company - came promptly with very cold beer. Well, 20 minutes after I posted that review, my delivery came and the beer was very warm, practically hot. I emailed customer support and the rep said that next time you want cold beer you should tell us first. That's like saying if you want your ice cream cold, instead of melted, you should let us know. Oof. From 5 stars to 3. I will give it one more try but if this is how things will go, I'd give it 1 star.

It seems like we may have miscommunicated to you via email, its not that you have to let us know every time you want your beer to be cold.
By default we try our best to deliver beer cold for every order but since the inventory is constantly moving we cannot guarantee cold beer delivery for every order. If your beer should absolutely be delivered cold please add a note to comments or instructions. Example: Deliver only if you have cold beer.
How to add comments/instructions to order ?
On the checkout page you will see a delivery time block (above payment method) just let us know time window that works for you and we will deliver accordingly, you can also add comments there Like “Deliver only if you have cold beer. “
If for any reason we cannot deliver the cold beer we will contact you and inform you.
We have plenty of customers that want their beer warm/room temperature so specifying your preference would help us serve you better.

NYGrocery is great. They are quick, efficient and easily communicate any discrepancies with the order. I order beer from them all the time (for my office). I can't speak for their groceries but as far as drinks I've never been disappointed.

Awesome grocery delivery, and quick same day delivery and large selection of items. Please can you get gluten free bread, ener-g light tapioca gluten free bread, is a great one, I'd order a million, and Powerade Zero, grape, or Vitamin Water Zero, lemonade, that would be great I'd order a bunch! Thank you, will order again for sure, definitely try it!

Great, quick service
New York Grocery is a fast go-to service for our office needs on a weekly basis. Their turnaround on delivery times are prompt and expeditious. However, sometimes their products selections are limited and fresh produce are sparse. At times, when fresh fruit is delivered, it doesn't always come as pictured - our last batch of pears and bananas were a tad rotten and seemed bruised from transit.

We apologize for the kind of pears and banana's you received in your order. As per our conversation we will replace the bad batch of Pears and bananas with fresher ones by resending fresh Pears and bananas shortly.
Upsetting
My event was for the same day of delivery and I only received a portion of my order because there weren't enough of the items to fulfill my order. I was advised that there is no inventory conducted in products and therefore they never know what is actually available. In my opinion, for a service that provides same day delivery they should know what is and is not available prior to confirming the purchase. Very unsatisfied!!!

Its not that inventory is not conducted, the inventory is not accounted in real time. We tried calling you (10 minutes after you placed your order) as soon as we found we were low on the product but the phone number you provide to us was wrong. We also sent you an email to inform the same but did not get a reply. We believe we made every possible attempt to communicate the issue with you.
We believe that the customers are always right and hence we apologize for the inconvenience you had with your order.
Huge disappointment...
First try using the company to cater a party. Order arrived incomplete. Not enough food for guests. Huge disappointment.

The order did not contain any food items other than beer, not sure why are we given a 2 star review for food.... Reaching out to customer to resolve the matter.
Update: The customer has not responded back to us. We feel that the customer had ordered from a number of merchants including us. We believe the customer mistook us for the food vendor and hence the review is irrelevant to our service.
First experience worked like a charm
They brought everything I ordered right away. I would reorder again from them.

Pleasant experience
Super fast responses on the online chat, they ran out of some items so called to tell me what substitutes they would provide ( very polite and helpful Indian gentleman who gave fabulous n quick service ) . This is a great option to fresh direct - quicker n good prices too
