More than 1 year now a Netim customer (Domain Registration) and very happy about it, also with the continued development of the administration platform.
I paid Netim $358 for a .NE domain. The registration did not work properly. It timed out and stayed in pending status, which dragged on for seven weeks. When I inquired, a Netim representative offered a refund as an acceptable solution.
The delay prompted me to ask about the stability of a .NE domain if I were to continue waiting. The representative revealed that the issues were due to the .NE registry having a history of long delays, nameserver problems, delegation problems, and even active domains becoming unavailable online. He stated that the .NE zone could be unstable.
The representative sent me examples of .NE domains from other customers to address my concerns, but the examples either would not load or were being used as redirect links, not primary websites you would expect if you were deciding whether to trust an extension for serious use.
I stated clearly that I would be considering the offered refund and, having been presented the facts, would need to determine the best path forward. The representative suggested that we wait and see what happens. Shortly afterward, the domain was registered, almost two months after payment.
I determined that the domain was not viable for my purpose and asked the Netim representative to honor the refund offered. Despite having just revealed that the domain would be completely useless to me, he used the completed registration as an excuse to deny it. I felt cheated: I was told to wait, and because I did, Netim silently took the refund off the table.
Netim sold me a domain they later admitted had stability issues and could go offline without warning. Refusing to refund the money afterwards is unacceptable.
We reported a domain that was clearly hosting a phishing page impersonating a legitimate service and harvesting user credentials. The report included everything you would expect: the exact URL, screenshots of the fake login page, and a full explanation of how users are redirected and deceived.
Instead of suspending the malicious domain, Netim repeatedly claimed there was “insufficient evidence.” This is despite the fact that the phishing page was directly hosted on the domain provided. At one point, they even tried to shift responsibility by suggesting it might be related to third-party services, completely ignoring that the credential harvesting happens on the reported domain itself.
After escalating and providing technical proof (including the DOM clearly showing credentials being POSTed), the domain was finally placed on clientHold, meaning the abuse was obviously recognized.
Without any explanation whatsoever, the suspension was lifted again.
This kind of inconsistency is extremely concerning. It suggests either a lack of technical understanding, a broken internal review process, or a complete disregard for handling phishing and DNS abuse properly.
In this case, Netim clearly failed to act decisively, failed to evaluate clear evidence, and failed to communicate transparently.
Regarding NETIM‘s response to this review:
The clarification is helpful, but it raises additional questions about how this case was handled internally.
If your position is that action cannot be taken at the registrar level because the abuse occurs on a subdomain and must instead be handled by the hosting provider, why was this not clearly communicated by your abuse team from the beginning? Throughout the entire communication, this was never properly explained, despite multiple follow-ups and requests for clarification.
Additionally, your abuse team repeatedly referenced ICANN policies and DNS abuse definitions during the investigation. If these policies do not apply in this case due to the domain being a ccTLD, it is unclear why they were used as the primary basis for rejecting the report.
Your current explanation does make the situation more understandable. However, this information was not provided during the actual handling of the report, which made it unnecessarily difficult to interpret your position or proceed appropriately.
A clearer and more consistent communication approach from the start would have avoided most of this confusion.
