Axon Video Files
If you are a lawyer who practices criminal law and needs software that will store and play Axon body camera files, run away! Once you download these files the MyCase cloud will only allow you to use Windows Media Player to view them. As you probably already know, Widows Media Player can't reliably play the audio on Axon body camera mp4 files. You can change your defaults to VLC but it doesn't matter, you can't open from MyCase cloud using any other program. You can open from the MyCase drive using VLC, however, you'll find that the drive cannot retrieve the input to open Axon mp4 files.
I don't know why this is. The drive regularly stops syncing with Mycase without warning. As you save your changes editing documents, those changes will be saved to your downloads, not the original file in MyCase. Get ready to accidentally file unfinished drafts because that's just part of the MyCase experience. You're better off keeping everything on your computer, working from your computer, and then putting whatever you file in MyCase after the fact. This inability of the drive to stay synced might be why most Axon body cam can't be played from the drive. Overall, just using your computer and keeping everything on it, is way more functional than paying for the inconvenience of MyCase.
Website service not recommended MyCase is a premier solution for managing files
I have used MyCase since 2014 and find their practice management features to be excellent—highly competitive with platforms like Clio and Practice Panther. While I frequently recommend MyCase for case management, I strongly advise against using their website services.
Despite sales claims of a 'hands-off' maintenance experience, the reality is that the user must maintain the site themselves after the initial build. Furthermore, MyCase restricts administrative access to the backend, making it impossible to manage your site effectively. While MyCase is a premier solution for managing files, their website services are inefficient and not recommended. The website team when engaged are often rude and the work they do undertake is often sloppy.

Problems with Outlook link/add on
Problems after merger/switch to 8am. The system was functioning as we needed, but then after the change/merger with 8am problems emerged. The Outlook add-on stopped working. The emails I linked are not visible any longer. First it was just me, but now it is staff too. This has been about 2 months of--"engineering is working on it." I requested a partial credit and was quickly refused. This is a change from my previous positive experience. I'm seriously considering other platforms, even with the migration headaches.

I signed up with mycase as the salesperson led me to believe it would replace my expenses for dropbox in delivering discovery to clients. Uploading documents, especially large files, is extremely slow. Sometimes it would just freeze and the upload would not be completed, so I would have to restart. Whereas uploading any size discovery to Dropbox is almost instantaneous. I chose to cancel after 6 months of my 12 month contract and requested a refund. They refused my request for a refund even though I won't be using their product.
MyCase was good but recent changes are unacceptable.
I have had MyCase for a few years. I used to like it more; however, there was a change recently that is going to noticeably reduce my productivity. When logging an activity, I used to be able to simply type the letter "e" for example and the activity bar would jump to activities starting with that letter, such as email (or whatever letter I typed). Now you have to type at least two letters to jump down the activity list and even then, it does not always jump to the correct activities. I can no longer jump to the right section quickly and I now have to use my trackpad or mouse to scroll as I can no longer use the arrows on my keyboard to scroll down to the right activity. This change requires me to have my hands leave the keyboard each time, adding seconds to each and every time entry I add. My practice is a billable one and adding seconds for me to track every single activity is going to add a significant amount of time over the course of a month. It causes me a delay in productivity and for that and the reason below, I'm searching for another service. My other complaint is that it does not add up expenses properly. If your time entries use one zero after the decimal (which most lawyers use), the expenses are added only using one zero after the decimal. Meaning if you have expenses in a case of $1,600.44, the system will show expenses of $1,600.40. As a lawyer with funds in trust, I have to account for each and every penny. This is also unacceptable. I reached out to the company about this issue and was told how to fix it, however, it then changed my billing on short tasks. For example, if I wanted to bill 0.1 for a 4 min activity, it was changed ot 0.05 instead which reduced my billing by half. This is also unacceptable.

software is not working as advertised. close and case and reopen, all contacts have disappeared. Customer support unable to say why and that I have to reenter all my contacts. Several other problems related to billing. solutions, very cumbersome, added steps to prior billing procedures, and customer support lacks knowledge, answers, and when asked to speak to someone else like a supervisor, customer support person would not give me his name and hung up on me. I have experienced great customer service and am very happy with most aspects of this program. A lot of times if there is something I feel that is missing, I will send mycase a suggestion. I have noticed they are adding new features all the time. Some of the suggestions I have made get added. They also offer the opportunity to do surveys for new features.
TERRIBLE PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
This is a terrible product and the customer service is even worse.
I attempted many times to create document templates with merger fields. I inputted the information for the client and many of the fields would not carry over and the code only would show up on the document. I spent more time reviewing to make sure that a code did not appear on the final document than if I had created the document myself.
I tried repeatedly to obtain help from mycase support. At one point I was told there was a bug in the system and that the issue would have to go to the tech department and I would receive a call back. Ten days later I called about the status. After a long hold the representative told me that it was still being worked on by tech. I was told they were still working on the "bug". I asked them to give me a new program and I would start again. This was refused. I asked and also emailed for a partial refund and I never heard back.
I do not recommend this product!
Exceptional user interface (It's easy to use!)
1. I valiantly attempted to work with another software billing program that had very nice customer support agents (They are Canadian). However, the user interface was clunky - it was not intuitive to find what you wanted to do. MyCase is amazing in that regard. And I'm a Boomer.

Makes keeping close track of everything related to the client and case easy. Don't know how I did it for so long without MyCase.
Extremely beneficial to the legal world
As a paralegal and office coordinator of 7 years, I could not imagine our office using any other platform than MyCase, it is the meat of our firm. Even with all the features available, I love that it is constantly evolving and implementing suggestions. Anytime we've ever had to contact customer support, they are quick to respond and resolve any issues. Our office is able to be extremely efficient and transparent with our client's because of MyCase, and we have more lead conversion than ever with the tracking capabilities.

This software is the worst
This software is the worst. We are a team of 5 and have nothing but issues from the start. The salesperson that sold me on this promised the world and then disappeared. The customer service gets a negative review rating. It is impossible getting any assistance from customer service. The rates are not at all competitive and are on par with Clio or Practice Panther, which are much better options. I caution you before purchasing. We will be dropping this service when the subscription is over.

Easy to use for billing. Otherwise, they FORCE you to accept services you do not want. They don't answer the phone. My bar is starting to offer us another service. I am looking into leaving this service.
I recommend MyCase
I've had MyCase for almost a year and I really like it! It is very intuitive and there are plenty of videos and instructions to help you do anything you need to do. I like that I can create customized intake forms and questions and the responses go right into the case. I like the ease of billing. I recommend it.
Frustrating experience - better systems than MyCase
I've been stuck with Mycase for 6 years now and have HATED every minute. This company has no focus - it gets purchased and becomes a bill pay system, it buys a document automation and eliminates its own system and two years later forces customers back to mycase with little warning and no support of the cost and time and expense of having to redo all client questionnaires, data base entries and all templates. Until recently customer support was non-existent. Even now, they make promises that they will redo your documents and questionnaires and then disappear - I think they have a turn-over problem. If and when you do get to speak to support, they are reasonably competent - although I have also run into clearly overseas farmed out staff who know nothing at all. Most of the time, when you comment on an issue or ask for help, there is no response to your questions for weeks at a time. At one point I increased my subscription to do the accounting add - on and they didnt get back to me for 2 months to give me my mandatory training session just to get started. And now 6 months later, the accounting system is still on my dashboard even though I cancelled that part of the subscription. Oh, and yes, since mycase was purchased by Affinipay, everything is an add-on for an additional fee.
Only reason I haven't left is because there is NO WAY to migrate all the invoicing and trust accounting out of the system to a new one. DONT DO IT!! There are way better systems out there!!
