Charges full cost even for just a few days, no early cancellation

Will charge you the full cost of a month of usage even if you only use it for the first couple of days of the new month. Over the last 10 months my connection has been below standard, especially for the cost of the sim.

I do not recommend unless you can manage without data from the first of the month until your departure, to avoid paying the full amount just for a couple days of usage. A ridiculous and very sneaky way of taking customers money. Customer service also takes days to respond, will not be using Mobal again.

With regards to our Voice+Data SIM/eSIM products and the ongoing plans we offer, we can confirm that the first plan fee is pro-rated (if the service is activated part way through a month) but after this fee, all plan fees are billed in full on the 1st of each month. This was also explained during the activation process but we apologize for any confusion this may have caused!

Easy activation and installation

I purchased an eSIM for 31 days with 10GB of data. The activation and installation process on my Android phone was straightforward. The customer service team was very helpful in guiding me through the installation. It was convenient that I could activate and install the eSIM while I was still in England, allowing me to start using the data as soon as we landed in Japan.

Mobel helped me out at short notice with a trip to Japan. With some queries over installation (I've never used an esim before) we got it sorted and I had a trouble free trip.

Mobal uses recycled phone numbers ie someone used the number they gave me for Yahoo.jp Line, etc. it’s a gimmick, don’t waste your money with them.

Unfortunately, this industry-wide practice can sometimes result in a number being previously associated with services like LINE or Yahoo.

Poor speeds

We used the service for 3 months from Osaka to Tokyo. Installing the Esim is different to the regular sim and you need to ensure you download the right esim profile as there are a few options on their website

The main issue I have is that speeds are pretty poor. Alot of the times it can take 30 secs to 1 min for my Google map to process a location i want to go to or looking at reviews for a place I have to wait a while for the photos to appear

I will not be using their service again. The speed is slower than 3g for sure when I used it. I followed their instructions

Phone Compatibility re Volte

Received Sim and installed it - had data but had problem with receiving voice calls. This was due to the age of my phone. There are notes on the website about this, but the issue could perhaps be made clearer, since SoftBank upgraded its system last year (before that I had no problem using the same phone to make and receive calls in Japan).

Very easy and intuitive mobile website…

Very easy and intuitive mobile website and ordering experience. The Wifi hotspot I ordered arrived quickly and was easy to setup with my phones. The 4g is a bit slower than my 5g home service, but adequate for most situations. Battery on the unit lasts about 6-8 hours with moderate usage.

Great Experience

Hello,
I had a great experience with Mobal. At first I had a slight issue and it was a user error on my part. I contacted the Mobal support team via email and they were very responsive in resolving my issue. Since I’m not a tech savvy person they walked me through the steps. I’m very grateful for their patience and support.

All the best to Mobal and the support team. I will use them on my next vacation venture.

Easy to buy, international delivery, and good service

I had a smooth experience buying the sim card online and receiving it in France before my trip. I was able to setup the sim card before the trip so when I arrived in Japan I just kept using my phone as normal so it was very convenient.

When in Japan I also did not have any signal issues, I had good signal at all the places I visited.

I highly recommend Mobal if you are visiting Japan

Very good provider

I have just returned from a 3 week vacation in Japan and had an eSim card from Mobal. The Internet was excellent everywhere, even in the countryside. From purchase, activation and use, everything was without problems. The fact that Mobal uses its profits for charities makes the whole thing even more appealing

I used the Mobal E-Sim for my recent…

I used the Mobal E-Sim for my recent trip to Japan and it was perfect. You get an activation email with instructions to set it up and I activated it once I had landed whilst waiting for my bags and it worked a breeze.

The internet was fast and coverage was perfect, even when we went out towards Mt Fuji and even on the Shinkansen. It also worked on the underground Metro (I don't know if this is normal in Japan but I was impressed!)

100% would recommend.

Mobal plan with Japanese phone number

I chose this plan as I needed a phone number to make calls. Can be a bit slow at times but we were in the countryside quite a lot so that may affect download speed happy with the service.
