Outpatients pharmacy a disgrace

Went into outpatients pharmacy with a prescription given by a ward. We were no 9 in the queue since opening at 9.30. Dispensed at 10.55. Thats 85 minutes to log the request: pick a box of pills: check it by the pharmacist and give out. 5 folk in the office doing the work. On average thats five people to dispense one item every ten minutes. Tats not a shortage of staff: just plain terrible organisation: where is the manager? I could not leave this on their feedback page as it was not working and the stats showing said this month (May) but were from March. Time to outsource this function.

Incompetent Emergencies service.

On January 3rd we had to go to emergencies in Milton Keynes Hospital as my wife's blood pressure was 210/120.

After waiting for more than 5 hours, a so called "doctor" attended her and sent her back home saying that "it was not an urgency"... It was our mistake not to ask for the name of this "doctor" to request for a sanction or her dismissal. She is NOT a competent physician and is a danger for other persons.
Some days later, my wife repeated the symptoms, but this time we desisted to go again to the hospital and waste our time until another so called "doctor" would send us back to our home with the same nonsense.

We went to the GP later on and the GP (Bedford street) could not believe what the NHS told us and could not understand how was possible to not attend and treat her as an urgency.

Our experience in general with MK hospital has been always disastrous. A bureaucratic, poorly staffed and highly unprofessional institution who does not seem to care on the health of the same people they should be attending...

The biggest part of the problem is that for those of us who live in Milton Keynes, there are no alternatives rather than this disastrous hospital, and looks like the NHS does not care about it either.

Ward 2A great team

I had an episode where I blacked out and hit the deck. I subsequently couldn't get up and was confused. A kind neighbour phoned an ambulance and I was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital. After being seen in Accident & Emergency I was moved to a bed in ward 2A. I wasn't expecting to be in for long but it ended up being an 8 day stay.

I have nothing but gratitude for all of the staff on ward 2A. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The team spirit was brilliant and they went out of their way to ensure patients were well looked after and cared for.

And I must mention that the food was excellent as well.

What an inspiring team. Bravo ward 2A.

Yours gratefully,

Mark

After 6 hours standing up at A&E Milton Keynes they gave me pain killers and sent me to routine check!!! I can’t sleep or sit or work I’ve stooped working and I don’t think the £100 a week sickness will cover even half of rent cost. Thanks very much for the NHS and the government after years paying around £18k a year tax treated me like insect.

I have never had health problems in my…

I have never had health problems in my entire life, but when I was sexually assaulted by two officers from Northamptonshire Police who maliciously prosecuted me for harassment/stalking in the same way as the subpostmasters, I sought treatment at MK University Hospital. I am permanently disabled as a result of the assaults by these officers, so I am undergoing surgical and rehabilitative surgery to improve my mobility anew. IN addition to this, my ex-girlfriend tried to kill me, and the hospital helped implement safeguarding strictures in place to protect me, as weird as this might be for a man.

The surgeons, GPs, prosthetists, therapists, counselors, triage team, scheduling coordinators, and the like have treated me like a movie star. I do not deserve such treatment, and I of course am saddened to read that so many others here do not entice the same superior quality of care like me.

I genuinely have never experienced more cordiality in a healthcare setting than I have at this hospital, my hometown treatment facility, than I have in MKUH.

I am very, very grateful to the people who have made my life-changing trauma, injuries, PTSD, and the like so bearable.

All of NHS A&E problems are laid bare…

All of NHS A&E problems are laid bare at MK A&E Hospital.

After 12 long hours, we are ...More Stressed, Very Tired and No wiser as to the problem we came to the hospital with

We were sent to A&E for the second time in 3 weeks by our GP as our 17yr old athlete daughter was suffering heart pains during exercise again. 3.30pm Friday

Arrived at A&E and went to reception to be told needed to go to “Nurse station” first. (BTW Something that was confusing everyone)

Nurse very quickly assessed her and we were sent to the Urgent Care Centre down the road.

Booked in at Urgent Care which was less than half full and apparently “quiet” for Friday but wait was showing on the board as 4-5 hours!.
Called in to see Doctor at just over 5 hours. Doctor could not access last visit notes (3 weeks prior) and couldn’t access any notes from subsequent tests done by local Doctors.
He proceeded to write everything down on a scrap of paper. He had no idea what problem was so sent for simple blood test. Sat waiting for test and noticed nurse about to go home so asked what was happening... “Oh has no one told you test was slightly abnormal but not to worry given she is an athlete”.

Doctor had no idea what to do so sent us back with a letter to A&E.. Started the whole queuing system again... Wait 2-3 hours apparently.

She was then wired up for ECG and more blood tests. After another 4 hours wait saw a “doctor” who asked “what we were doing here today?! ”... Went through it all again and yes, she wrote it all on a scrap of paper.

She then admitted she didn’t know what the problem was as it was “beyond her expertise” and that she would have to see another doctor.

Eventually we are sent to a side room at around midnight. Nothing happened and we had to keep asking what was going on. Eventually another doctor came and again asked what we were doing there? (Apparently note taking on scraps of paper is not efficient!)

Again she had no idea so went away. Eventually around 1.30am after asking several times we were told they thought it best we go home pending an X-ray. It wasn’t busy so would be quick...

.. 1 hour later we asked what was happening about x-ray to a nurse... She said we hadn’t been booked in by the doctor!! so she took us around herself and it was, indeed quick as we were the only ones there.

Now taken to an “Observation ward” which was full... Waited another hour with no activity until we found another doctor on another ward who went to try and sort us out for us but nothing happened again.
Eventually At 3.30am we were told by someone who wasn’t involved in any of the previous interactions that we would have to be admitted until the morning to see a doctor who “may” be able to see us or must wait for “months” to go back as an outpatient if we left.

We made the decision that this was a complete shambles, and we were such a low priority for them, to go home.

... More stressed no wiser, very very tired, and totally disillusioned with how all my years of tax paying is being spent and when, on the one occasion in my life so far we have needed help, we were failed so badly.

So eventually a response...

Good morning,

I hope you and you daughter are well. I can see she has been seen by the haematology department. I hope that is all going well.

I am going through some old cases; I didn’t get a response from the doctor who saw your daughter that night in the emergency department.

I did receive a response from the ED manager.

This 17-year-old young lady was appropriately redirected to the UCC with non-cardiac type chest pain where she was seen by a Dr Then sent back to ED as a referral to the Medical Team. The On-call team was notified of her arrival. Her vital signs and observations were recorded all of which were within normal parameters, a further blood sample was obtained, and analgesia was given. She was then asked to wait to be seen by the on-call medical team and transferred to the Observation Unit which although within the ED is staffed by Nurses allocated by the Hospital Site Team. She was seen by Dr Hira Ashraf at 01:46 (medic) but unfortunately self-discharged before being seen by the medical consultant in the morning. Alyssa's mother then contacted the ED secretaries who forwarded all requested documentation to the patient's GP. Regarding the lack of food, we do have a small selection of sandwiches, biscuits, fruit, and hot and cold beverages for patients, the staff in the Observation Unit are not ED Nurses and may not have been aware of its availability but these are available at a patient's request overnight.

I am sorry you felt your daughter was not cared for or looked after properly.

My apologies for the late reply. I do hope your daughter is better.

Make your own mind up but my response...

I will post my response when the system allows.. but basically, this response missed all the key issues and shows no sign of learning from mistakes

I can see that all the time after a bad review has been posted regarding the staff, is comming a very good review to bring up again the usual stars of the hospital. It is a shame. They could improve the attitude with the pacients and the stars can come alone after. But for them is the most important to improve the stars not to treat the pacients. NHS do something please!

Ward 1 absolute chaotic shambles

Ward 1 absolute chaotic shambles. Loads of nurses standing round doing nothing. Been asking what’s going to happen for 2 days with my
Mum now but just bee left laying in bed. Absolutely disgraceful useless hospital. Zero stars would be a better rating.

Thank You again Milton Keynes Hospital

I am a strong fan of our NSH. I get so angry when people knock the amazing work all those who work within it do.

I remember Milton Keynes as a new city that did not have a hospital of its own. There was an empty field here the hospital now stands. There was a giant sign saying MILTON KEYNES IS DYING FOR A HOSPITAL What an amazing hospital we finally got !

My adult daughter has been a renal patient all her life. Yesterday she need urgent vital attention. I took her to the renal unit in Milton Keynes where the staff were so lovely, professional, attentive and caring. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

We have a wonderful hospital and a wonderful NHS.
