I was once a supplier to Midland Chandlers, I supplied in 1997, then again from 2012 until (after a few buy outs) they became LKQ which was recently.
The first problem was communication, being none racist, but I couldn’t understand what the contacts were saying, they didn’t appear to understand my emails, and getting paid for my products was becoming a nightmare.
In 2012 I had a contract which stated I was to be paid within 14 days, at the end of our ‘partnership’ I was lucky to get paid in 2 to 3 months and usually had to resend my invoices, sometimes 3 times.
And even now over a year after informing them that I am no longer a supplier and asked them to take me off their system, I’m continually receiving orders and requests for invoices. (For items I haven’t supplied)
Someone needs to get a grip and see what’s going on with this company, it’s become a laughing stock!
Dire experience
Dire experience since stores have closed, faulty items sent, no response to emails, huge queues on the phone, refunds on returns taking 3-4 weeks apparently, transitioning to an online business has killed them off it would appear

I have recently bought a gas hob online from midland chandlers. The hob arrived quite badly damaged. I have to say that they replaced it promptly with no issues. Even though this problem occured I think it was out of their control and they delt with it professionally, I would not hesitate to use them again.

We went into the branch at Willington on Saturday 2nd August. Firstly I want to say the two men working in the branch that day could not have been more helpful. They both went above and beyond to help us both. We bought a new toilet because ours was broken they firstly suggested a new pump unfortunately this did not work. We went back to buy a new one they even helped load it into my car. Exceptional service I will recommend to all. I hope they get to see this review and know how much we appreciated the service given to us.

Poor service
Bought a fridge freezer at crick boat show to be delivered following Monday,never arrived said it would be Tuesday. Rang on Tuesday said not being delivered that day. Arranged for Friday 6th June and they decided to deliver to sister marina without contacting us at all. Complained to them and asked for compensation , still waiting... Not impressed, wouldn't recommend them if needing delivery. Update, we now have compensation, took a while. Have done from both midland chandlers and courier. Hope this will be a lesson learned.

Burton branch
We went to the Burton branch Friday just before they closed for some wire. The two men behind the counter were welcoming despite the time. Friendly and good service, what not could you want?
Poor communication
Ordered a cooker, it arrived quickly. However, I only found out it was coming when a lorry pulled up outside. No indication from MC of when to expect delivery.
A positive experience
Teething problems with the new warehouse required direct intervention by the team at Braunston. Something they did efficiently and effectively.
All businesses face challenges and it's not the fact that things don't always go as planned, it's how they are dealt with that matters.

This company has gone down hill massively in the last 6 months.
Poor service and very expensive

Excellent customer service at point of order
I needed to add something to an online order as I wanted to rationalise postage costs. Basically I forgot to order it and wanted to add it the next morning. Not only did I get through to the sales department immediately, who dealt with my order addition and added it to my online order without additional postage costs (and were so pleasant) - I also got a phone call in response to the email I had sent the previous day (about 10 minutes after I placed the order). It is rare that online ordering and old fashioned customer service are married together so well.

I purchased a SUP leash on the 7t of March 22. I used the board about 6 times over the summer, but it was only on the 6th time that I used it in 2-3 foot surf, and the leash broke. I reported this on the 18th of November understanding that 7 months had passed but as the item had just broken with minimal use, I requested a replacement. I then chased up on the 27th of November and again on the 6th of December. I also left 2 voice messages in this time but there was no response until the message on the 6th of December advising me that as so much time had passed there would be no replacement. So my experience is that the product was of terrible quality, the follow up service was no better, unfortunately I cant leave feedback on ebay after 60 days it seems.
This is a buyers market, I suggest you spend your money where you get better quality and customer service that this

After trading with this company for over 20 years I received a phone call yesterday from the head office. Apparently I have not purchased anything from this company within the last 12 months and if I do not do so before the end of December my trade account will be deleted from their new system. I asked what my last purchase was and the assistant informed me it was a Morso squirrel fire with a back boiler and a clarifier of which totalled to the cost of just under £1500 as a trade customer. I did ask the assistant if customers who occasionally spend large sums of money mattered to them? Obviously not as I am now no longer a trade member of Midland Chandlers. Shame on you!
The weirdest service ever
A month after my order they tried to call me and left a message to say they can't deliver the item (without giving me a proper reason) so they initiate a refund.
So one: it took you a month? really??
and two: I'm pretty sure you need my approval to initiate a refund
