We had to take our dog there as she was struggling to breathe. They were absolutely amazing from the time we got there until we left . Our beautiful dog had cancer and they had been brilliant all the way through.
They were ready for us when we got there, they took Bella and they put us in a room as we were all very upset.
The vet came in and explained the options to us and brought Bella back to us to decide what we wanted to do . We knew she was in pain and what had to be done . The vet was so sympathetic it made it easier for us .
We had to put Bella to sleep and it was not an easy decision. It was done calmly and Bella passed very peacefully.
I would like to thank all the staff there as they were amazing

I made an appointment to have our beloved pet put to sleep at maes Glas. I held Bonnie in my arms as she went, and the vet asked if I wanted ‘a couple of minutes’. Not once were we offered a bit of hair, or any memories of her. The morning after we rung the practice as soon as they opened, to request a paw print. They informed us they did not do ink pawprints, but they could do a foam imprint. We were grateful for this, informed of the price and told that it would be sorted with her cremation. On the 26.01.26 I paid for the pawprint. Upon collecting Bonnie’s ashes we had a phonecall to let us know the pawprint had never been done. They said ‘that it had gone through too many hands’ and that they simply forgot. In paperwork with Bonnie’s cremation, we found out she was cremated 23.01.26. Three days before they had taken our payment for the pawprint. To add more upset, other owners have reached out to us who have had ink pawprints from maes Glas. Even one receiving a card with pawprints on the front. I don’t know why they took so little care of our Bonnie, and her memory. They have robbed us of something we will never get back.

In memory of our Lillie

Lillie was admitted as an emergency with congestive heart failure but was failed miserably by them and was put to sleep. The negligent 'care and treatment' Lillie received continues to pain and traumatise me! How they have achieved emergency status is beyond me. They should be ashamed of themselves! What happened to our Lillie will be fought through every channel possible #Justice for Lillie

Terrible vets

Continually texting saying your wormer is due when it's not they have no compassion for any pet they just want your money took two dogs for health check and boster paid for that the vet does nothing on the health check I say I think there is something wrong with one of dogs teeth she has quick look and said he could do with scale and Polish which would cost between 500 to thousand pounds never said it was urgent when we saved enough money to have him done he went in where they took some teeth out and stitches bring him back for check up so week later he went back where he had to have antibiotics bring him back the week after all the time you have to pay so it goes up haw much you have to pay in meantime they say he has ear infection more money again but my anger is with the vet who clearly don't know wat she was doing you have to pay for all this before you can claim off insurance and she never said you need to have this done straight away when we made claim for the money back from Tesco insurance they said as you did not have his teeth done straight away we will not pay you😡 so over a thousand pounds down and the vets don't care they got their money and will never take out insurance for my dogs again paying for years and when it came to it no money back better off putting the money in tin and going to a good vet not maes glass

Kind and understanding staff

We sadly had to put our elderly cat to sleep due to cancer, and the staff were so nice. The room they took is to wasn't particularly clinical with a sofa for cuddles. They gave us some precious last minutes to say our goodbyes to our boy. Thank you to the staff on that day, they made a terrible experience a bit better.

I can't fault them with the care they…

I can't fault them with the care they provide but to be charged 80 pounds plus for 21 tablets that online would cost 26 pounds is extortion.
Why they feel the need to do this after already charging 40 pounds for a consultation plus VAT is beyond me

AVOID PRACTICE AT ALL COSTS!!

Took my cat to the vets after we thought he might of being hit by a car. He turned up to the house with a bloody nose and a lump on the top of his head.

We were informed by llantrisant that he had a hematoma (which could be drained) that he needed to go to Brakla branch and monitored for 24 hours. We drove him down to Brackla branch where they kept him overnight, Give him an xray and bloods. We were also expecting him to have this thing drained. Picked him up the following morning where they confirmed he had a fractured skull which he would be able to live with and also hematoma.

They described him to me as being alot better than he was when we dropped him off the day before. The bill was £1400 for blood tests, overnight stay and an xray.

We came home with antibitotics and painkillers. When i got him back to the house, they had drugged him so much he was foaming at the mouth and could barely get up and walk. You could still feel the air pocket on the top of his head which we thought was being drained as we where told by Llantrisant branch. Rang the vets back to say is this normal and they said give him time and see how he goes.

Two weeks past and he was still the same very lethargic. Wasnt eating alot and constantly sleeping. We took him back to llantrisant where they confirmed there was nothing else they could do for him (even though in the beginning they told us they could drain his head). We had no other option other than to leave him as he was not knowing if he was in pain or put him to sleep. We took the decision to put him to sleep which was the most horrendous day of our lives. We have had him for 18 years and he was our baby. We have no children.

They asked us if we wanted him cremated with other cats or if we wanted a seperate cremation and have his ashes back. We confirmed we wanted him cremated seperately and to have his ashes back. They told me that we would recieve a phonecall in around 10 days - 2 weeks to collect his ashes.

One month later still no contact from the vets. I called them to ask where were his ashes, the young lady on the phone said she needed to find out and would call me back. She returned my call to say that there was a delay in the crem due to bank holidays and that it could be another two weeks. My gut feeling was telling me something isnt right here. I told the lady on the phone that i didnt believe her and asked the question " Has he even been cremated yet?" her response was " I am not sure how to tell you this, but he is still with us in Llantrisant, We forgot to send him for cremation." He had been kept in llantrisant for a month completely forgotten about! As you can imagine i was absoluetly furious by this!!! I would of gone and picked him up myself however i didnt know what kind of state he would be in as it was a month since he had been put to sleep. I asked for the practice manager to call me back and asked that we were fully refunded for his cremation which was a cost of £300. We had already paid 1400 6 weeks prior to try and get him better. The practice manager said as a gesture of goodwill we will refund you half £150 Which i found insulting (not that money would bring him back) I refused to accept the £150 and told her that i would be contacting the Royal Vets College to report them. She called me back 24hours later to say she had spoken to the Clinical Directors who had agreed to refund the full amount of £300.

The whole experience from start to finish was horrendous and what made it worse that they were tryning to fob us off saying that the was delays in the crem due to bank holidays when the reality was they were fully at fault and incompetent. I would avoid this place at all costs!

My pet Maui received fantastic care…

My pet Maui received fantastic care today by a senior vet Sara a Spanish lady she provided so much support and care to my pet. To be honest I was very scared and worried but Clive a director in the week gave reassurance over the phone and I am so glad we went ahead with Mauis operation today. Much appreciated for the staffs hard work to help my pet Maui to get through day’s operation. The only thing which I was a bit thrown back with his on arrival at reception when mentioning I am here to pick Maui up it was asked for payment and this is the cost when I could have done with a bit more empathy as it is a cancer scare we are going through with our pet.

STAND YOUR GROUND AND SPEAK UP FOR WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT. We took our rabbit here because he was attacked by a dog. She didn’t look like she knew what she was doing. She didn’t examine him properly to look for any other wounds other than the one we mentioned on his tail and didn’t use gloves when touching the wound. When talking to us she wasn’t very nice or empathetic, just seemed like she wanted us in and out of there. She took him from us into another room and said she was going to get advice from another vet. She took ages to come back, she come back without him. She told us we had 2 options to put him down or surgery but advised us that he most likely wouldn’t survive surgery. We asked if she could bring him back into the room so we could see him she told us NO unless we agreed to put him down. When she finally agreed to bring him back in she took forever again like she didn’t want us with him. He was probably petrified being in a cage in an unfamiliar room on his own. We asked if we could try and give him a chance at life with taking him home with medication and antibacterial solution for his wound and she told us NO and threatened us with the RSPCA. My mum considered putting him to sleep but I stood my ground and fought for him to come home with us, the vet eventually agreed but said we had to bring him back in 24 hours. When we brought him back a lovely guy seen him used gloves, properly examined him and said his wound is healing rapidly. 3 months later our rabbit is still with us full of life and hopping around the garden. If we didn’t fight for him she would have taken his life. She’s probably taken the lives of many innocent animals and will continue to do so unless something is done.

Nuisance texts

Don't have an account for a few years they keep texting me for pets that I dont have to come for treatment.
Phoned said it was a courtesy call and they hung up before I could explain, called back wouldn't answer
You're now blocked and someone's pets who may need urgent treatment won't get the messages

Avoid this practice

Took our new puppy to Llantrisant practice with a swollen throat. Vet instantly called cancer and ordered £300 of tests. Had to insist they tested for other things as well (another £100) and left with some antibiotics and paracetamol. Called 3 days later, no cancer (shocking) and the antibiotics had cleared up the infection.

This practice no longer cares about animals, they only care about making money as quickly and effectively as possible, praying on your love for your pet.

Asked them for a fully itemised bill for the insurance and they have yet to provide stating they don't normally do that. Instead they want us to complete a form and they'll send the bill to insurers direct.

Dreadful attitude led by a weak and…

Dreadful attitude led by a weak and ignorant practice manager who is appallingly bad at communication. One of the clinical directors Candice makes up stories and they think it is fine to double charge and change your insurance claims. They cheat you, lie to you and are immoral.

Very Highly Recommended

I simply cannot recommend this vets enough. I had to take my dog (dachsund) here last week for a back problem and seen Rachel. I have to say she was excellent! She's very knowledgeable, efficient, has a great sense of humour and great with my dog. The specialist she referred me to contacted me the next day to arrange an appointment. That was fast, I wish my GP was that good. Thank you all at Maes Glas. They have plenty of parking too. Elaine

Awful veterinary practice

Awful veterinary practice, they put money ahead of animal care. They put our cat down because we couldn't raise the fund instantly, and the vet in question Matlida Fuller couldn't have been more unprofessional. She didn't want to get involved in anything to do with helping us in getting the animal treated and couldn't have distanced herself faster after he passed. Please avoid this practice if you care about your animals. There are better in Bridgend.
