Just another boring brand :(
It feels like someone took my favorite brand and completely sold them out for a tasteless - brandless - style-less beige blah I don’t even know what to say. I’m so sad that the old, bold, lady-tomboy, unique brand that stood out against a landscape of middle-age brands that all look exactly the same ended up selling out to become just another safe, boring “mature” brand that has nothing distinct or exciting about it.

International Order Issue Corrected
After an issue with an international order that never arrived, Madewell customer service bent over backwards to rectify the issue - I’m a happy customer who will be returning!
High Quality and Fast Shipping
I received my Rugby Long-Sleeve Polo Shirt quickly, and it arrived in perfect, new condition. It's very high quality fabric and construction and just as described. These things matter to me.
The Marketplace-Madewell fiasco
Madewell sells products on their website through 'Marketplace'. I bought some items over the Holidays. The return policy on the Marketplace items are apparently different from Madewell items even though they are sold on the same website. I went into the store within the 30 day timeframe and was informed that the Marketplace item needed to be returned by requesting a return label through a specific email address. I was also told that I had an extended time till Jan 7 to return items since that was their holiday policy. Long story short, 15-20 emails later of trying to secure a return label which they are unwilling to give me, I firmly conclude that the back-end operations of this organization in regards to customer service is incredibly unprofessional, and disrespectful of the customer's time and need. I'd suggest to be wary of ordering anything from Marketplace. In the meantime I do expect a refund and a return label and will continue to post negative reviews till I receive what I justly deserve.

Fantastic after sales support
I purchased jeans from their store - they had 3/4 in stock, so they mailed me the last set. Unfortunately, UPS did not follow my delivery instructions and my package was stolen. UPS refused to work with me; however, Madewell offered to ship me a new pair of jeans. I feel they went above and beyond to compensate for a their shipping partner. I like to give a shout our to reps who help me on the phone, as I know they hear a lot of upset people all day. Thanks Rosemae!

Place an order at the Madwell store, they shipped to a wrong address. Will not refund money or cancel the order due to their mistake, unacceptable customer service, shady company.

Product inferior and not made well
Product inferior and not made well. Belt separated after 60 days of use and no remedy from Madewell. Expected me to return it to a store location 5 hours away. Then when I requested to return via mail, I was told credit would be given if it was within 30 days of purchase. Such a sorry guarantee for such a high end store.
Quality drop over the past few years
Not the company they once were; both quality and customer service have gotten worse. Ordering online from them is awful since their sizing is inconsistent and they essentially don't have customer service anymore so unless you send back your return within 2 days of the order arriving you're stuck with what you got.
save money
Bought a bunch of tees. Haven’t worn over 6 times. Long sleeve tee developed a hole near the pocket. Zero customer service, 30 day warranty and that’s it. No help at all. Chat disconnected. I cannot seem to include a screen shot of CS conversation or short. Save your money.
Someone had worn and returned
Ordered loafers online. They looked and fit as expected but the shoes had been worn with stress marks on top and back sides. When I called customer service I was told that customers have up to 30 days to return them and that it is common practice to resell them as new, even when they've been worn. Leaving this review because I think customers should at least know they may be buying used items as new.
Returns are quite a process
Returns are not straightforward. They have this whole process that is done through email. A lot of back and forth and it’s starting to feel like they expect the customer to get frustrated and in the end, forget about returning the item. Will never buy again.

I ordered and for some reason they shipped to a store two hours away for pickup. When I tried to have them correct this, they said the store can’t ship to me. And I needed to call the store to cancel. No you need to do your job. They also said I should just order another item. Because everyone has unlimited funds to keep ordering items. They suck will never order again.

Best jeans you'll ever order. I got a few pairs of Madewell jeans last year and they're by far my favorite jeans I own. Madewell has quality clothing that will last through the years (unlike some of the stores you go to... that sell clothing that won't last more than 2 washes.
