Kawasaki Z after 20 Years
After 20 years, I bought myself another Z900 here in Thailand. There are several differences between the 2005 model and the current one (2026). The first thing you notice is that there are many more plastic parts, and almost every screw from those are loose. Presumably, this was done intentionally to boost the aftermarket and replace the cheap plastic with exorbitantly more expensive carbon fiber.
The suspension, brakes, transmission, etc., have remained largely the same; no significant difference is noticeable. The only additions are more electronics and an improved quick-shifter. The design is more aggressive, in keeping with current trends, and there are also a few more horses that happily gallop along country roads and are always ready for a street fight.
All in all it's okay, especially since the price in Thailand is almost half that of the western countries.(Z1000/2005 in Switzerland CHF 15,000 vs. Z900/2026 in Thailand CHF 8,200)
