Be Aware - Big Bank Error - Expects Customer to Pay!!!
I used the KPlus banking app to transfer over 800,000THB in $AUD to my Australian Bank. The KPlus App provided the SWIFT code for my bank. No codes were entered manually by me.
The Kbank had assigned the incorrect SWIFT code which caused the funds to be rejected by the receiving bank. When the funds were credited back to my Kbank account, it was 50,000THB less than the amount applied in the original transfer.
I had sent over 30 emails and too many phone calls to count and just got no real response, only apologies for the poor follow up. When I did get a supervisor to call me, (Chulee) she attempted to immediately negotiate a 50% reimbursement. I did not accept this as a final solution and demanded a full reimbursement. They even admitted that they applied the incorrect code, but at the time of writing this review, they have still not corrected their system.
Finally, I was advised by a senior manager (Prayad) who also agreed that this problem was not my fault, only for him to eventually confirm the decision was not to reimburse me the full amount as they deemed it was "reasonable" to expect me to check the SWIFT code that they had applied. Who checks codes that any major bank provides in the middle of an online transaction.
This is a big bank bullying a customer thinking they will just give up. Well, Kbank, you have not heard the end of this problem. It amounts to stealing funds from a customer's account.
I have since written by email and online to 3 KBank directors including the CEO, KATTIYA INDARAVIJAYA, which were receipted and confirmed as read, but no reply.
I have now engaged a lawyer, drafted formal complaints to the Ombudsman and CCFI and now sharing my experience on all forms of social media. I am also going to have my experience published by a major media channel who are very interested in my story.
KBank have until close of business Monday 19th August, 2024 to confirm a full refund and if they do not, all of the above actions will be implemented.
This transaction took place on 25th July 2024. My first complaint of the issue to Kbank was made 31st July and I only got their final confimation via phone call that they will not reimburse me on 15th August 2024. Prayad (senior manager) committed to put a detailed response in writing, but just like previous commitments by Prayad to put in writing, he has consistently lied and not followed up on this action. It is clear they know they are wrong, but are hoping I will not take action against this big bank.
To all foreign investors in Thailand, be very careful as this is how the biggest bank of Thailand will treat you.
