Don't expect JT Dove to get it right

Decent range of goods but unreliable, inefficient customer service.
Ordered a bulk bag of crusher run which was to be delivered on the Wednesday but received type 1 sub base. Refused delivery.
The "resolution" from them was to deliver my order on the Friday.
This is not a resolution. It's a massive mistake costing time, money and planning for the customer. Throwing a job behind schedule. Because they made a mistake.

Thank you for your feedback, we're sorry to hear about the mix-up with your order. You're right that this shouldn't have happened. Your delivery went out via our Ashington depot and when they didn't have the crusher run in stock, sub base was sent out instead rather than checking with you first. That's our fault, not something you should have had to deal with.

We're glad we were able to get the correct crusher run out to you via Newcastle on the Friday. We understand this still isn't ideal when you had a schedule to keep but appreciate you working with us on the timing.

We've fed this back to the team directly with orders going out as placed, not substituted without contacting the customer first, a change we've made off the back of your feedback, so thank you for flagging it.

I ordered a dumpy bag of children’s…

I ordered a dumpy bag of children’s bark clippings from JT Dove Sunderland on 20th June for delivery on the 23rd. I waited in all day and no delivery arrived so rang them at 3.00pm to ask what was happening. The lady I spoke to said they should have arrived by now and everyone has gone home. She stated the 23rd was a preferred delivery date!! I explained to this lady a picked the 23rd because it came up up as an available delivery date and I need them that day as I was off work. She waffled on that it might not get delivered on the date you pick !! How the heck does that work !! Basically they want to deliver when they want to deliver not the customer. Absolutely shocking customer service not even a phone call to say it wasn’t arriving. These are the basics of customer service which clearly why JT Dove have such a poor Trustpilot rating.
I asked for my money back if it doesn’t arrive in 48 hours the C.E.O. Will get a nice little letter of complaint from another unhappy customer.

We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations, however we do want to clarify a few points for the benefit of anyone reading this review.

When selecting a delivery date on our website, the following message is displayed clearly on screen, in bold red text to ensure it is not overlooked:

"Please note, this is a preferred delivery date. We will always try to accommodate this and will contact you directly after placing your order to confirm. During busy periods (bank holidays) delivery can be between 3-5 working days. If delivery on a specific day/date is essential, please contact our central sales team on 0191 4841810 prior to placing your order."

In addition to this, our records show that a text message was sent to you at 2:35pm on 22nd June, the day before your original preferred date, confirming that your delivery was scheduled for 24th June. This message was marked as delivered to your number.

We understand that waiting in for a delivery that does not arrive is frustrating and we recognise that the communication you received when you called could have been handled better. That said, the information regarding preferred delivery dates is presented prominently at the point of checkout and communicated proactively via text ahead of your delivery.

A refund has been processed for your order. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our team again directly.

Dropped me right in it!
Due order to be delivered today (Wednesday) following an order placed online Sunday evening. No correspondence from them until expected delivery day when they dropped the bombshell and said they wouldn't be coming until tomorrow. Guy on the Web order line couldn't care less that it has caused me additional costs. Whacker plate due to be returned tonight. What a waste of a day's hire. Don't know when I can rebook it out. Lads have wasted a days labour. Total s*** show. Not be using again. There's the obvious reason why they offer free delivery. They are unreliable!!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the frustration and inconvenience caused by the delay to your delivery, as well as your disappointing experience with our telephone support team.

As stated on our website during the checkout process, the delivery dates selected online are preferred dates and unfortunately cannot be guaranteed. During busy periods, particularly following a weekend, online orders can take a couple of days to be processed. Because your order was placed on Sunday evening, it was processed on Wednesday, meaning the next available delivery slot we could allocate was for the following day. For customers who require a strict, guaranteed delivery date for a project, we always advise calling the local branch directly so that we can make specific arrangements to accommodate you.

We completely understand your frustration regarding the hired whacker plate and the wasted labour. However, we do strongly advise all of our customers against hiring equipment or booking tradespeople before materials have physically arrived on site, just in case of any unforeseen logistical or stock delays.

That being said, we take your feedback regarding the attitude of our staff member on the web order line very seriously. We will be addressing this internally, as we always expect our team to provide helpful and empathetic service, even when delivering disappointing news.

We apologise again that your experience did not meet your expectations on this occasion.

Great service.

I recently bought a couple of manhole frames and covers from Dove's at Consett. I had to return them a few days later to get a different product. The service I received at this branch was excellent particularly from Arthur behind the sales desk. Prices were very good as well. So overall it was a very good buying experience.

Avoid Doves Ltd Birtley

Avoid Doves Ltd Birtley. Delivery never arrived as agreed, no proper communication, and false claims that contact attempts were made.Cost me money paying a contractor for wasted time. Very poor service and completely unreliable,emails sent and no response at all , terrible experience i will not use again and I not recommend.

On line ordering a joke

Be careful if ordering on line,stock may be shown as available,order and delivery day will be acknowledged but when delivery due nothing turns up.On chasing informed "on line stock cannot be relied upon ",no answer when asked why I was not informed that delivery would not be made.Totally inreliable,item is still showing as available even though branch has no stock,pathetic,organisation needs a good kick up the proverbial.

Having looked into what happened, let me start by apologising. As soon as we realised the error, we made contact and as requested refunded your order.

The issue arose from a mis-count at our recent stock take that lead the system to believe the stock existed and automatically generate a text message to confirm delivery when the stock was not in fact present for this specific product. For this we apologise. We did offer to order the product in and get this to you as soon as possible but it wouldnt have been intime for the weekend requested (just after).

Again, all we can do on this occassion is apologise for the original mistake.

Waited in 2 days for delivery that has never arrived after being constantly lied to on phone calls, saying it will be here today. I advise not to use this company at all. will request a refund and then take it to Trading Standards.

On this occasion, we were let down by a supplier, which in turn meant the stock didn’t reach us as planned. While this was outside of our control, we completely understand that the responsibility ultimately lies with us and we should have communicated more clearly throughout.

Doves in Marske by the Sea -Brilliant.

Absolutely horrendous service

Absolutely horrendous customer experience.

Laminate flooring they sold us failed in two rooms in multiple areas including zero traffic areas under furniture etc. Called Birtley store where the product was purchased and was advised over the phone that they don't keep a record of sales/payments/orders.

When we advised the call handler (Angus) that order history must be kept for legal reasons (such as tax purposes) they advised again they don't keep a record and refused to look for the order before advising it must have been bought from a completely different company altogether. We have proof of the payment to JT Dove and the date JT Dove collected this payment they refused to acknowledge.

We managed to find a contact of a manager at another JT Dove store via a friend of a friend who has a large trade account with them. This manager found the order-that the Birltey store claim aren't kept-, and advised a rep would need to view the floor to see the faults. The manager also advised this would need to be arranged via the store the product was purchased from (the Birtley store), and provided a managers name to contact (Liz) and arrange.

Called Liz, who responded immediately by saying in a sarcastic tone "I was expecting this call because my call handler, Angus has gone out of his way to find the order". Same handler that originally told us JT Dove don't keep records and subsequently refused to look for one.

They then said the previous manager we spoke to had given false information and we must pay up to £400 (more than the value of the floor) to have the floor viewed. They advised that this was required by the manufacturer.

We called the manufacturer who advised that JT Dove has no right to charge £400 to view the floor, or the right to advise or instruct that a third party must view the floor. They advised that a rep of their own would need further info and then potentially need to view the floor which was what the manager-that the Birtley store accused of providing incorrect info- had advised. They then advised JT Dove should have no involvement in that process whatsoever and have began the process of rectifying themselves instead.

So the Birtley store, involving multiple members of staff have:

- Sold faulty goods (appreciate this will have been unknowingly at point of sale but subsequent actions and dishonesty doesn't help)
- Advised a customer, who's money has been taken, that JT Dove keep no records of orders/payments
- Refused to help/locate an order
- Advised that another store, who had helped us and whose information matched the info provided by the manufacturer, were lying to us
- Advised it would cost more to have the floor viewed than the floor cost to purchase, and blamed the manufacturer for this cost despite the manufacturer confirming all their rep needed was additional info. Presumably because teh Birtley store refused to take any.

From outset the Birtley store has been repeatedly, and maliciously dishonest to such an extent that they are refusing to acknowledge processes, such as basic record keeping, as well as fabricating the processes and requirements of the manufacturers who's products they supply on their behalf.

Total farce.

Morning Martin, thanks for setting this out, we received your initial complaint yesterday (25th November 2025), a year after the product was delivered (3rd October 2024).

Our regional manager has spoken with the teams involved and there are a few key elements to highlight, including that the supplier of the flooring has contacted yourselves to arrange a site visit to find a resolution less than 24 hours after raising the issue.

With regards to the communication. The original order was placed over the phone around a year ago, however, when raising the issue yesterday, our online sales team were contacted and therefore they were under the impression the order was website related. They tried to resolve as promptly as possible by checking all website orders rather than all branch orders. An honest mistake.

In summary, the supplier has already contacted yourselves to resolve the issue and we have done everything we can to facilitate a resolution.

At this point, all we can do is apologise if our efforts were not well received but know, once the right individuals were involved, a path to a resolution was established.

I needed one 8ft fence post and some clips with delivery it was a LOT cheaper than BQ or Wickes £4.98 delivery is a steal with a two day wait,also saved messing up my car.
Will definatly avoid Bq and Wickes from now on.

Harwood timber

Orderd timber on sale picked a devilery date payed for you then day after I get call saying mistake with pricing didn't offer same type wood as substitute just refunded me very frustrating as needed the timber that day never use this company again

Sublime service all over

Sublime service all over. A great price for the large 800kg bags, free delivery on the day of my choice, and the delivery driver was outstanding. Very friendly, helpful, but more importantly, he did his job to perfection when it came to safety with delivering the product I ordered. I highly recommend JT Dove and I certainly know where to go in the future, for any more gardening products that I may need.

Shocking customer service

Shocking customer service. My delivery date was changed to 2 days after original date. I had booked a joiner to do work for me so as you can imagine I wasn’t best pleased. But the attitude from the Dove employee I spoke to in South Shields was so aggressive and abrupt, so rude. I have sent a complaint which I wouldn’t normally do but his behaviour was so disgusting I felt I had to. If that is your customer service then you seriously need to rethink. No apology, nothing.

I had a problem with my order & delivery date, and I was a little unhappy with Doves, but after a phone call to Liz Adams, (New account manager) she sorted everything out for me. I will certainly use Doves again.

Don't appear to want to sell bathrooms and kitchens

I really don't think they want to sell anything!
I wanted a full bathroom, fitted furniture, shower and bath, taps, eveything for a full bathroom right down to radiators and pipe, around £6-7k I was expecting,
Went into Consett store on a Friday and asked for a quote (my builder recommended using them) they said they would get back to me with a quote, they didn't. I called in the following week and asked for it, they said again they would email it, nothing. 2 days later I called back in, again they said they would email it.
I ended up going elsewhere, the day after I'd ordered and paid elsewhere a quote came in from them, far too late and for only a toilet and units nothing else!
*Edit to the porcelain tile issue, now a girl there is really going out of her way to help, so nice, changed rating from 1 to 3 star as couldnt be more helpful now, Thanks

Great company to deal with

Very helpful from the point of ordering to the delivery of the product. On day of delivery driver called to confirm drop off point.

Don’t expect any help

Wrong order delivered then to compound matters they redeliver the same incorrect order. Other than the same delivery guy who realised this error, no phone. Alls back as promised and no replies to emails. Left with blocks I don’t need, an unfinished product and a complete sense of disappointment with this company!

Afternoon Graeme,

Having recently resolved your issue we wanted to add some clarity. The order was originally placed for Heather block paving of which we delivered, however, your email mentioned these were the wrong colour to which we re-sent out another batch of heather blocks, this time labelled heather by the manufacturer in the thinking we may have sent the wrong colour originally. Again, you let us know these were still incorrect and let us know this was taking too long to resolve. Our branch then sent out both Heather and Rustic blocks for you to choose from as we acknowledge now that the image could have been better on the product. Following on from this you returned all the blocks as the ones in place were of a brand we do not stock so would be unable to match exactly and we issued a refund for your order.

Apologies for the inconvenience but know we tried at every turn to resolve your issue.
