Shower enclosure leaking

The shower tray had dropped due to shrinkage of the flooring below causing a leakage through the tiles.
Stuart removed the tiles corrected all the issues and re-tiled the area.
Stuart was friendly helpful and really took his time to ensure everything was corrected and looked as good as before.

Over promise and under deliver

Bought a new Jelson home in Leics. The house itself seems well built and has good solid interior walls (which can be an issue though if you want to hang mirrors or pictures) but the finishings are cheap and poor and we've had more than our fair share of issues.

Trying to get Jelson to resolve anything has proved to be a nightmare and the 'customer service' (which they are anything but) team is a joke. You call them to tell them something is wrong, they then tell you they cannot do anything unless you email first, so you email and wait for ages before calling them again and they then deny receiving any emails.

They couldn't be less interested if they tried.

The latest issue is the window handles are breaking and we can't open the windows. Three have gone already and a couple more look as though they are about to go.

Jelson's response? We are out of our two year guarantee so they won't do anything about it. Who gives a two year guarantee on double glazing??? This is typical of their attitude and, once they have your money, they are done with you and will not help with any issues.

I'd seriously think twice about buying from them.

Moved into our new Jelson Home in Long…

Moved into our new Jelson Home in Long Buckby back in 2018. It is a huge plot with top end interior finishes. The quality of the build and in particular doors in particular really makes the house feel executive. It's unusual these days to have solid internal walls rather than plasterboard partitions so this adds a robust feel.

Initially we had a couple of minor issues but Jelson quickly replaced the toilet pan, a couple of kitchen cupboards and some glazing.

Brilliant family home which I'm really happy with.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Once you’ve bought the house, there is no support for the long list of issues happening. We logged complaints straight away that still haven’t been resolved years on. Would never buy another Jelson home.

My advice DON'T BUY FROM JELSON!

If something is wrong with your Jelson home, like a leaky roof on a house built in 2016. Good luck getting anything out of them. Pretty sure a roof should be good for more than 4 years right?

More problems now nearly 6 years old... the rendering is so poorly thought through that water gets behind it and freezes causing huge unsightly crack down the side of the house.
The customer care for this company deny any responsibility for their poorly designed cheaply built properties and unless your house is going to collapse they don't wanna know.

I would buy again.

Bought from new in 2016 at the Peterborough Showground.

Pros:
Very good quality structure (solid brick walls etc)
Flexible with deposit payment (FTB)
Carpets and lawns throughout
Lots of green space
Snagging list small and rectified quickly.

Cons:
Having lived in the house for 6 years, a couple of cheap elements are now visible (plumbing issues, delamination of kitchen cupboards)
Customer service at head office could be much better.
Limited upgrade choice for interiors at purchase.

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Jelson house. I don't really like new builds in general but if I was to move to another, I would certainly look at Jelson first.

Jelson’s management company Warwick Estates are awful

Jelson’s use a management company called Warwick Estates. This company are unscrupulous in their approach, their behaviour is threatening, they do not respond for months, charge for work that is incomplete or not done at all. The worst is the more of you on your development that complain, the bigger bully they become. Threatening with bailiffs to reduce the number of households that will fight them.
Jelson’s won’t do anything about it either. They are silent and take no action.
I would suggest you are better off paying a bit more for a new home in the short term and not buying a house from Jelson’s whilst they continue to use Warwick Estates as their management company. The value you think you have got very quickly disappears

Stay away from Jelson homes if…

Stay away from Jelson homes if possible. Jelson homes are really good value for money, but their sales team are really poor. My reasoning for this is I am buying a new build which will be ready in December 2021. Jelson Homes are strict with their exchange date with no leeway regarding to to the buyers situation. I requested for a 1 month extension to save thousands on a mortgage early repayment fee, but with no empathy or care to their customer who is buying a house from them it was a straight No. For a new build home that hasn’t been built yet you would think if you would like to change a few things e.g sockets or making a hole for a dryer air vent it all seems to much of a big deal to request and No is the answer to most requests. I am still purchasing the new build house as I have agreed to sell my house, but if there were new builds near the location I would cancel my reservation, hence why I say “stay away if possible”!!!

Lazy and hidden scam

Do not buy from jelson homes. They are more interested in their workforce finishing the builds of new homes for new buyers, rather than completing a 6 month slag check which should have been done over a year ago for people who have already purchased. no communication to anyone in Broughton Astley from them.

Additionally, they outsource a company called Warwick estates to do the maintenance on these sites. This company take your money, threaten people with bailiffs, don't reply to your queries and don't actually do any maintenance leaving the whole estate in Broughton Astley feeling robbed, not listened to and scammed. I have no option to pay these unregulated theives which jelson employ. Jelson do not care and are happy to have these cowboys taking our money and not do any work for it. It's outrageous that your first bought home that should be the most wonderful feeling and has actually turned into a nightmare.

There will be a banner outside my home to try and persuade new potential buyers to not bother. And I will be at the sales offices telling people about it when they come for their scheduled appointments to look at the buildings.

STAY AWAY FROM JELSON HOMES.
