The service was excellent from start to finish. JDS weren’t the cheapest, but their professionalism - from the quotation process through to completion - justified our choice

From the time Jamie visited to survey the area and provide me with a quote for a new shed and garden gate, I was updated with arrangements for the work to be carried out. Rhys and a young assistant arrived at 8.30. The old shed was demolished and removed swiftly before the new shed was erected. Existing garden gate removed and replaced very proficiently. All work carried our professionally within a morning. Very pleasant guys and left the garden very tidy. Delighted with the outcome. They even left a mug with chocolates - good advertising a very nice touch. Have already recommended to friends.

I have a section of lawn that I needed to raise up by 20cm at one side, the other side remaining at the same level.
The first problem was that having discussed a start date with them they failed to book it in, they only discovered this when I phoned to ask them why they hadn't turned up. The result of this was a one month delay which greatly inconvenienced me.

The second problem was that when they did turn up I discovered that they were going dump soil on top of the old grass and then returf on top. When I booked them I took it as a given that they would know that unless the underlying grass was removed the result would be that as it rotted and compressed it would upset the level and cause bumpiness.

No turfing companies think that it is a good idea to returf on top of an existing lawn. Fortunately they did agree to remove the old grass, otherwise it would have been a deal breaker.

I employed JDS Gardening for several years to manage my garden. I was initially impressed by them. However in the last year the following occurred:
- They increased their price of visit by 5% per visit without getting us to sign a new contract accepting the price increase
- From August 2020 they issued a letter stating they were only conducting 30 minute visits but charging us the same price (which worked out to be a new rate of £137.46 per hour)
- They offered me a free visit when I was unhappy with the above, which they then tried to make me pay for at the time of closing my account with them
- They quoted me four different outstanding balances at the time of closing my account which was confusing and stressful. They threatened me with debt collection when I challenged them on the closing account balance.

Overall I would say; overpriced, unprofessional and inconsistent when it comes to customer service. I would strongly advise that you look elsewhere for a gardener.

Awful experience, garden was still an overgrown weed riddled mess when they left, it was like nobody had even been except the small lawn they had mowed now had grass clippings dumped on top not in the bin, and they had sprayed a bit of weed killer which turned some of the weeds brown. Rude and intimidating when I complained and threatened me with litigation and interest charges if I didn't pay. I still have to pay another company to come and do a proper job. I am disabled and feel they are ruthless and exploitative bullying me for payment for next to no work. The man's tone was sneering on the phone threatening me with litigation. Please steer clear of this company.
