What an extreme disappointment, having booked the trip months in advance 4 of us were all looking forward to the trip on the 14 Sept 2026. Our first letdown was being informed on the 11th Sept that the steam train had been pulled for maintenance and would be replaced by a diesel train. T and Cs meant we could not cancel as there was no refund of our fare if we did, but we were offered a 10% refund due to the change, meaning out tickets reduced to £68.50 from the regular £76 each. Somewhat disgruntled we arrived at the station for the trip only to have salt rubbed into the wound when we saw the station ticket office was advertising tickets for the regular commuter train which followed the exact same route return price £19, a saving of £59 on the Jacobite fare.
I'd expect to be paying a premium for a steam train journey but an extra £59 I think is excessive.
If you want to travel on the Jacobite train line I urge you to consider the costs, check with the station at Fort William, save yourself £59 per person and have more flexibility in you journey times and treat yourself with the money you save. Don’t be like use and lose £236 we could have spent elsewhere during our holiday.

This relates to the An Talla restaurant on site. Great choice of food catering for all diets; the vegan choice is an example to other establishments. And most importantly, a great team of staff, on the ball and looking after both clients and their colleagues by sharing responsibilities in a very efficient way. 5 stars not enough.

Very rude member of staff on board 2 of the 3 toilets were out of use therefore leaving just 1 usable toilet and we were told on the bus to use the boat toilets before getting back on the bus which I did but after that she was very rudely telling people the toilet was then shut and they had to wait until they got off the boat to use the 1 of the hotels 14 toilets which if you need the toilet then you should be able to use it Totally out of order as offering a service which customers pay to use the facilities she needs a telling off or go on a course to learn customer relations or get the sack in my opinion

Had a lovely 2 hour cruise on the Maverick, down Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle and back. Tour guide was very informative and had a number of interesting stories. My wife is a wheelchair user and Linda did a excellent job of getting her on board first and as she can walk a short distance, got us the front outside seats, which was great as it was a sunny day!
Excellent views and many pictures taken. I suggest taking a coat or something warm, it was a hot and I thought still day, when we went, but the wind sailing down the loch was still strong and quite cold!

Really enjoyable cruise with loads of information served up by Kieran in an amusing and informative way. He is a great storyteller.

We had a wonder cruise on 30 July although the boat was a bit late.

We were very impressed with the on board Tout Guide Malcolm Willis exceptional professionalism. We thought the Tour Guide Information was from a recording of a celebrity from BBC broadcasting until we actually saw him just in the front of the Bar. He was amazing and we all enjoyed our cruise.

If you book a ticket online and follow online instructions ( travel 9 miles from Inverness) you will see signs for Jacobite Cruises with large ships ready for boarding. So when 15 minutes before departure you are trying to find your ship to board you will be given a phone number where they tell you that you are at the WRONG HARBOR. Apparently the correct harbor they provide you in a confirmation email but there are no visible Harbor signs or any other directions available. So you will end up 5 miles from the correct harbor, with no refund, no option to reschedule, or get trade credit. Your money is lost, snatched from you with rude excuses. And we were not alone, some foreign travelers were completely stunned by this secret multiple locations, with no sign, wrong directed anticks. Beware and stay away from them.
