AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID – 6 months, no repair, no communication, livelihood destroyed
I've been a customer of Southport Insure Taxi (now Brown & Brown) for years, but after this claim I cannot recommend them to any working taxi driver.
My dads car was hit in an accident on 13 April 2026. Nearly six months later, it still hasn't been repaired. It took months just to arrange collection of the vehicle. My courtesy car cover ran out long before repairs were anywhere near complete, leaving me with no vehicle and no income for months on end.
I raised a formal complaint on 8 August citing clear breaches of FCA regulations (ICOBS 8.1.1R and the Consumer Duty). The reply I got simply forwarded my complaint to two different contractors and said my comments had been "registered" – no investigation, no Final Response, no accountability. Multiple follow-up emails since then have gone completely unanswered.
The delays and lack of communication have cost close to £6,000 in lost earnings and caused significant stress to my dad and my family.
I have now referred this to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
If you're a taxi driver relying on your vehicle to earn a living, think very carefully before insuring with this company – when something actually goes wrong, they disappear.

As an insurance broker, we arrange and administer policies on behalf of insurers, but claims decisions and investigations are handled directly by the insurer's dedicated claims team. While we are not responsible for the outcome of claims, we do assist our customers wherever we can by liaising with the insurer and providing support throughout the process.
If a customer has a complaint regarding a claim, we ensure that this is passed to the insurer for formal investigation. Under regulatory guidelines, insurers have up to 8 weeks to investigate and provide their final response.
We appreciate that claims situations can be frustrating, and we remain committed to helping our customers obtain updates and support during the insurer's review process. My wife and I had spent several days compiling travel insurance quotes from a number of suppliers and comparison sites. Because we had both just reached a birthday milestone and had a few health issues to be taken into account, this was no easy process. We were both delighted with the personal service from Brown & Brown and Corey in particular, who took time to understand both our medical histories and particular requirements to provide an excellent quote that beat everywhere else we’d looked. I can’t recommend their excellent, bespoke service enough!

Still Unbeatable after several years
I usually speak to Caroline Jones (renewals Team Leader) each year she works so hard to keep my premium down and always has advice for every query I have. The one time in 6 years I have had to make a claim there was no fuss, payout received for agreed value of the car. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
