Such an amazing vibe
Such an amazing vibe! Amazing food by Bang Bang Burger (STILL thinking about that humburger). A non traditional Xmas experience for theatre goers and dive bar lovers alike. The show is solidified by the top notch actors who really give it their all. Loved being a part of the immersive experience with different themed rooms, where you can meet and interact with the characters. A great night (or day) out with friends and family- we left dancing and singing into the streets of Waterloo! Would recommend getting seats closest to the stage if you are more of a theatre-goer.
Went with a group from the office
Went with a group from the office, we were at the front of the line and were able to sit together, I noticed groups arriving late
got split up. While the shows plot was a little hard to follow, the final 40 minutes turned into a brilliantly chaotic, hilarious party atmosphere. Lots of cocktails helped, so sore heads the next day!
We had a great staff night out
We had a great staff night out. Food was good. Beer was good. Girls loved the cocktails.. My only criticism is the wait I had getting my coat from the cloakroom when leaving. Would definitely book again.
Good light hearted fun
Went and loved it
Went and loved it. Great fun night. Will book next year again for sure. 🎅
A joyous family experience you must share with loved ones
We recently had a family bereavement and so I decided to take my whole family out for the evening in the middle of a tough time.
I can't believe the other reviews I am seeing as they are SOOOOO completely at odds with our experience.
The food was banging, tried the truffle chips, the burgers and the pics in blankets which were unbelievably good! You must try them!!
The show was hilarious and in parts moving to the point of tears, you'll know when 😂😉🎤🎅🏼
The staff were attentive and so helpful and full of the joys of Christmas.
I couldn't recommend this family feel good fun enough, go with your friends, take your family and help save CHRISTMAS! ❄️⛄❤️❤️❤️❤️🎁
Office xmas party
Booked for an office Christmas party (c.80 people). Experience was great - everyone enjoyed and atmosphere was great on a Friday eve.
Food/drinks did take a while to arrive but didn't spoil the experience. Don't be put off by the negative reviews - a great festive evening out!
Absolute class
Absolute class. The only way I want to spend Christmas from now on. In a dive bar. With cracking music. And hell of a lot of fun.
Great night with my good lady
Great night with my good lady. Very fun and very silly night. Have been for the last 3 nights.
Do not waste your time or money
We were really looking forward to our experience and had paid for the better seating positioned at the front of the stage. Unfortunately we were so disillusioned with the performances and general atmosphere, we left after an hour.
The drinks are served in cheap plastic cups and are overpriced and expensive, the food is an array of beige offerings and it felt as if we were at a school play.
All we could hear when the "actors" were on stage was the buzz of everyone talking and shouting amongst themselves in the crowd. The songs were weird and there was absolutely no xmassy vibe. I feel like we have been scammed - do not waste your time or money on this show!!!!
Absolute rip off
Absolute rip off. We had high expectations for this and booked the vip tickets upstairs. 2 x tickets £150 pounds. There was no atmosphere and the show was embarrassing awfull. Very expensive drinks and appealing food and the toilets were absolutely disgusting. So disappointing. The door men were completely unprofessional and let some people jump the que for no reason. Unfortunately not value for money a poor show and very amateur door staff. Dont waste your money.
A truly terrible night
A truly terrible night, it was so awful it was actually funny. It’s themed like a dive bar but is actually a dive itself. Filthy and the food was unbelievable in the worst possible way. The “immersive” experience started well as we entered, then literally disappeared off the face of the earth, literally nothing happened once in. The cocktails are premixed and absolutely disgusting, if you want an on brand liquor, make sure they actually reach for the bottles not pull out unpacked bottles under the bar. The crepe/pancake station somehow wasn’t included in the packages and worst of all the beer is literally watered down and served in plastic beer cups. Absolutely horrendously dirty toilets, some of which were out of order, not even all working, so dark and singed. We were there for a corporate event and I’ve never had food worse than a 90s school dinner for something that cost more than a wedding to put on. Everything about the place couldn’t have been worse really, the service and quality of everything was absolutely abysmal.
Double booked - TWICE
Save your money go elsewhere.
Booked for my company Christmas party for 45 people. We paid extra for the balcony area only to be told nearly two months later it had been double booked. We were 'upgraded' to the Santa's VIP inner circle and cabaret area only to arrive last night and find 10 strangers in the Santa's Inner Circle Section. Once again we had been double booked. We were also promised Christmas crackers and a confetti welcome - neither came to fruition. You queue for minimum of 30 mins to get into the venue, you're then rushed through the 'immersive theatre' experience to your table. The bouncer was extremely aggressive and rude. Wouldn't let people into the toilets and pushed an older gentleman off a chair when he was trying to take a group picture (appreciate he wanted him to get off the chair but a polite ask was all that was required, the man was in his late 60s and sober!!) On top of this the show is mediocre at best. The wait staff (aside from one young man who was very dismissive when I tried to flag we had been double booked) were very accommodating and the only reason to stay. Cocktails are cheap tasting but not cheap costing! Overall, my advise do not bother.
Very Disappointing VIP Experience
We were highly unsatisfied with our visit to Humbug – Santa's Christmas Dive Bar Experience. We paid for VIP tickets, but nothing about the experience felt premium or worth the extra cost.
We intentionally chose VIP seating away from the main floor because the marketing material stated that close-up seating would involve audience participation, which we didn’t want. However, the VIP area was extremely underwhelming. After walking upstairs opposite the bar, we were greeted with uncomfortable seating, basic wooden tables and chairs with a couple of sofas scattered around. The advertised “balcony view of the stage” only applied if you were lucky enough to sit right at the front; otherwise, the view was poor.
There was a separate bar, which initially seemed convenient, but with only one staff member the wait times quickly became long as the area got busier. The “free” cocktail included in our package was awful. Out of the four options, we picked the one that sounded best, but what arrived tasted like fizzy ice with absolutely no hint of alcohol.
We also tried a few food items, herby fries (overcooked), stuffing balls (served inexplicably on top of coleslaw), and mac balls (only three pieces). We paid £20 for these sides, and none of them felt worth even half that price.
As for the entertainment, we genuinely had no idea what we were watching. The band appeared to be impersonating Elvis, and even Santa came out doing the same. The songs were full of unnecessary sexualised obscenities, and the classic Christmas songs were completely ruined by the style. They struggled to hold the audience’s attention, and most of what we heard from upstairs was just loud noise and flashing lights without any clear performance.
The event duration was also misrepresented. When we booked, it said 3 hours. Other marketing said “2+ hours” and elsewhere “3–4+ hours.” Doors didn’t open until 2pm (despite the start time also being 2pm), the show didn’t begin until more than an hour later, and the band left the stage around 42 minutes after starting.
The best part of the entire experience was the entrance decor, not the characters, just the decorations. We also weren’t informed that VIP guests had access to a game and Santa’s sleigh downstairs, which we only found out about afterwards.
Overall, this was absolutely not worth the £60+ per person we spent. Avoid at all costs. If you want something fun to do with friends or family, choose something else, this was a huge disappointment.
Save your money and go to the pub
A Review of Humbug at The Vaults: Save Your £50 and Go to the Pub.
If you’ve ever wondered what it might feel like to burn £50 in a dimly lit tunnel under Waterloo while someone half-heartedly waves a script at you — wonder no more. Simply book a ticket to Humbug at The Vaults and you’ll experience the theatrical equivalent.
For your £50, you are treated to a seat and one glass of wine — perhaps intended as anaesthetic for what follows. Unfortunately, even a bottle might not have been enough.
The “entertainment” (a generous term) was so spectacularly dire that we did something I’ve never done in a theatre: we left at the interval. Not out of rudeness. Out of mercy — for ourselves.
The production somehow manages to be both embarrassingly amateur and bewilderingly joyless. It was so-bad-it’s-actually-hard-to-describe. I’ve seen school nativity plays with more narrative coherence.
If you are considering buying tickets, here is my sincere advice: don’t. Keep your money, stroll to the nearest pub, and raise a glass to all the hours of your life you didn’t waste.
In short: Humbug? Absolutely. Save yourself.
Shocking
Shocking, over promised and under delivered. Do not pay VIP, the worst seats in there! Very amateur and didn’t deliver as sold in nearly all aspects. Tried complaining, we left after an hour as did others. No response online when we followed it up. Avoid like the plague
Bah Humbug?
I came here for the matinee performance last Friday. The show was so fun - lots of Christmas classics and a few songs I didn’t know but really enjoyed. The food was great - they had a really tasty Vegan Christmas burger. I topped it off with a waffle. The cocktails were amazing. Veronica served me, she was kind enough to recommend the Mezcalita, which was delicious. At the bar in the interval, Viji and Sujii were doing some serious making and shaking. They recommended the Christmas Espresso Martini, which was so good. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming.
Would definitely recommend!
Meh humbug
It was a complete waste of money. The only immersive element was the walk in at the entrance. It certainly wasn’t worth the ticket price, as it felt like it offered alot more when booking. I was sitting on one of the benches in the middle and could barely see or understand what was happening.
Such a shame, it could have at least offered a welcome drink.
Poor
Poor, very expensive for what it was. Not even 1 free drink to go with the price. Long tables with my back to it which meant I saw nothing. Just chatted to my friends which I could've done in a pub
Absolute waste of money
Absolute waste of money! We paid for VIP only to be shown to our table which was nowhere near the main stage.
We expected a fully immersive experience, but received a band on stage just singing Christmas songs.
We waited over and hour for our drinks and had to chase them up 4 times before actually getting them brought to our table.
Do not waste your money. For £70 we could have gone to a bottomless brunch which would have included our food and drinks!
For £70 we received one drink and no food.
