We purchased and sold through Marcus at Hawes & Co, Wimbledon.

On the purchase side, we found him to be a professional. He was relaxed and not pushy, and didn’t make the process more stressful than it already was.

On the sale side, we were very pleased with the photos, organisation of marketing and the well run process.

Marcus was a pleasure to deal with, and in his absence, Paul was well on top of everything that was going on.

Granted, the transactions worked out. But this was a good experience.

Highly recommend Wayne Newton. A pleasure to deal with, very informative and contactable. Nothing was too much trouble.

The singlemost worst company that has ever existed in the world. After 2 months I notice the property was full of mould even my clothes and shoes were getting mouldy, they BROKE THE LAW by not responding to mould issues within 14 days, I went to the branch twice and was ignored and even ushered out of the door. They let other properties in the building to people who stunk the place out with drugs and stole my parcels and I caught them red handed they did not want to listen to any complaints and I was even talked down to my a member of staff when I left. After nearly a month of being ignored by them and with the bullying from residents escalating they were banging on my door and laughing, I was left with no choice but to leave, I have bought all new things like sofa bed, microwave, hoover etc now they say I OWE THEM RENT haha and and are charging me STORAGE because all my belongings are still there,they have ZERO EMPATHY, the sistuation is ENTIRELY THEIR FAULT FOR IGNORING ME. I AM TAKING THEM TO COURT

We bought a property where the seller was represented by Hawes & Co. We had an excellent experience - the entire process was smoothly managed by the team (Paul Mannell, John Gordon). It was a chain-transaction that required co-ordination of different parties as well as deadline management.
Friendly, polite, informative and accessible. Definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic experience working with Chloe Parchment, who consistently went above and beyond getting answers to our questions from the seller, arrange property visits, solve any issues as quickly as possible, and handle the entire process with professionalism.

We called out three Agents to value our family home for probate, from the outset Richard stood out from the two other Agents with his knowledge and willingness to advise us on the process, over the 3 months he called monthly to check on probate and update on the market, never once did he push us or act “salesy”. When we were ready to market Hawes and Co was the obvious choice, after an open house we sat down with Richard who went through all the offers with us and who was most secure in his opinion, we had regular updates of the sales process all the way to exchange . I would gladly recommend Richard and his team to anybody looking to sell and need advice or hand holding

2 experiences over 12 years, nothing has changed...

We bought our house via Hawes & co Wimbledon 12 years ago. Visited the house on the week it was on put on the market. We made an offer during the visit. Agent told us there were 3 more offer and to come back to them with our highest offer the next week (supposedly to be fair to everybody). The next week we put our offer in by adding an extra 20k to the asking price in a supposed "sealed bid" process... except we were then told that if we were to add an extra 10k then it would be ours! We probably should have backed away but we simply stuck to our offer and we ended up winning the bid. The estate agent told us " the seller really liked you". Yeah right!
Now, to their credit, the process from that point on to completion was very cordial, helpful professional.

We have contacted the estate agent recently to try to visit a property as an investment but we were told visits were difficult to arrange etc. Never contacted again and the property is now sold. Inside job I presume!? I am not sure the seller got the money they deserved.

Estate Agents should be regulated!

Do not work with Emil Torrens, he is not responsive at all and dragged the whole process. This was one of the most stressful experiences I had with an agent.
I do not recommend working at him at all, however, other employees in Hawes&Co seem to be nice and helpful.

We just sold our first property with Hawes & Co in Surbiton and they have been fantastic. A big thank you to the whole team, especially Liana who was always keeping us up to date and extremely helpful and professional. Also, have to mention Chloe, Richard and George who have been so kind and helpful every time I have spoken to them. It’s a stressful process but they made it much more pleasant.

We would highly recommend Hawes & Co at Surbiton. We were extremely pleased with the service we received from everyone especially from Liana who was very professional throughout the whole process.

Unlike many others who have posted here, we had the most horrific experience with Hawes and Co. We rented a house through this agency, and have had nothing but issues with the flat as well as some of the most atrocious customer service from Katie and Tracy.

Both of these people repeatedly and shamelessly lied to us, throughout the application process and tenancy itself. In every interaction we felt fobbed off, as we struggled to get both the agency and the landlord to abide by the terms in our tenancy agreement.

We found Katie to be particularly difficult, where she refused or was not capable of listening and responding in a sensible or coherent manner.

To those people who are currently renting with this agency, good luck to you. I hope you have a better experience than we did. If you are considering renting with them, honestly, walk on by and go somewhere else. Katie and Tracy will tell you what you want to hear, but never show any interest after that.

I recently had a terrible experience with Hawes & Co in Wimbledon Village.
I was dealing with Janine in the Lettings team and everything was going great until she left. I was supposed to move in to a property however Hawes & Co never sent me the tenancy agreement to sign and still hadn’t sent it a month and a half later! They kept telling me they would send it and made up various excuses about the landlord not having an email address etc but I never received it and in the end I couldn’t wait any longer as me and my child needed to move out of our current home so I asked them to return my deposit and they refused (even though this was their fault and they’d never sent me the tenancy)!
I’ve tried raising a formal complaint as them keeping my deposit is in breach of the Tenancy Fees Act but I’ve had no response and everyone I’ve tried to reach out to is ignoring my calls and messages.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Marcus Short at Hawes&Co to sell a property in Wimbledon. Marcus’ handling of the sale of my house was outstanding: from proposing an appropriate but not unrealistically high asking price, to the measured and professional way he handled the negotiations and the subsequent conveyancing process, to his wise and pragmatic advice throughout. He also found me a fantastic property to buy locally. What sets Marcus apart from other estate agents is that he is conscientious but not pushy and his advice is always meaningful. This is in contrast to some other estate agents, whose behaviour was so pushy trying to get a joint agency that it verged on harassment.

We worked with Paul in Wimbledon to sell our one-bed flat in Wimbledon and he was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, responsive, transparent and trustworthy.

From start to finish Paul managed our expectations at every stage and made each next step clear. It seemed he was in control of the journey with solicitors for the most part, which is a tough feat! and was pushing and chasing for us when it got to the final weeks of exchange.

John Cooper has provided such professional service; paid careful attention to the criteria set and politely kept us up to date of appropriate new entries to the market. On viewings he was punctual, well informed and open - unlike many other agents. A delight to work with.

Had a great experience searching for and buying a property with Hawes & Co. In particular Farah has shown me round multiple properties and been with me every step of the way through purchase. Farah has stayed calm throughout and always quick to respond, and has been incredibly accommodating with some very last minute viewings. She has made the entire process enjoyable and straightforward.
