I have used the services provided by Lawrence Stolworthy in residential property for many years. Lawrence is technically excellent, very proactive and thoughtful, excellent at problem solving and provides excellent assistance and customer service. I have no hesitation in recommending him to friends and colleagues..

We engaged Hart Brown, in their Guildford office, on a property transaction where they acted for us as seller. Their expert advice on some complex matters proved very helpful. They were proactive and efficient in producing documentation and dealing with the other party.

We decided to use Hart Brown after a recommendation and thank god we did.
Jeremy is the consummate professional. With assistance from Stacey he help us sell and buy our homes, dealing with Help to buy and an estate management company.
We didn't have to chase him once. In what turned out to be quite a stressful move due to our seller using an office block full of paralegals instead of a proper high street solicitors, Jeremy chased and pushed each step of the way sending us near daily updates.

My elderly parents used Hart Brown for conveyancing (under the care of Lawrence Stolworthy), Estate Planning (with Kerry Dunn) and for a clinical negligence claim (handled by Gerard Sanders). Their experience was exceptional.

Used the Cranleigh Branch and wasn't sure what to expect. The lead partners of the firm was so incredibly fastidious and hard working. We used this firm for both the sale of our old property and the purchase of our new property. The lead partner and their team were so helpful and worked as efficiently as possible as we wanted a quick as possible sale and purchase of the new property. The lead partner also helped with a related issue on Help to Buy that was completely mis-manged by a different law firm. We initially wanted to purchase one house but they took too long in looking to sell their property and the team migrated the case to another house and they started work on that straight away and was a seamless transition. Couldnt recommend them enough!

Not surprised to see their poor Trust Pilot Ratings. If you think solicitors are a bunch of ambulance-chasing, money-grabbing, self-serving narcissists, Hart Brown can prove it's not a mere stereotype.

Was offered a "free consultation" but once the solicitor realised there wasn't a large pay cheque in sight for her, she ended the call! Manners cost nothing but lack of them cost reputations.

I am left wondering why these solicitors took my case only to rubbish it and effectively shut it down potentially losing me any compensation or my “day in court”? I began my medical negligence case with a solicitor who, although always civil and pleasant had taken the best part of two years and not made any headway. I changed to Hart Brown because Mark Wisby assured me things would be totally different, prompt and efficient at Hart Brown. Wisby even claimed he was working on an identical case to mine which, now, I question. So I turned down another offer from a reputable practice who were keen to take the case and signed up with Hart Brown. Immediately after doing so, the attitude changed, 180 degrees. On my first call to see how things were progressing around 1 month after engaging Hart Brown, I was treated to a maniacal rant from Mr Wisby, who made it clear that everything about my case was proving difficult for him. He made various assumptions (incorrect) as to what had gone on between myself and my previous solicitors, the circumstances of which had already been explained to him, and were irrelevant, as that was in the past. I was deeply upset by this but worse was to come. I then received an email, with a letter attachment (why he simply didn’t call me, I do not know) telling me that Wisby had approached a doctor with no legal training (it’s important you get a medico legal expert for cases such as this) for an opinion. Too frightened now to call him direct with my query, I called the central number for Hart Brown and asked if I could speak to Wisby’s secretary, so I could leave a message. On being put through, the phone was audibly picked up and then replaced. So, via email now - too frightened to call anyone - I cordially asked, why not a medico legal expert witness? and then I waited, and I waited. It became apparent that Wisby, after being asked why no enquiry was made with a medico legal expert had taken offense and as a punishment, I was getting no timely reply either by phone or email. I sent a follow-up email a few days’ later but still nothing and it is apparent, without telling me he will prolong the case until the statutory limit for prosecution elapses, I guess that is exactly what this firm will allow to happen. Unfortunately, there is now nothing I can do because, understandably, any other firm will be reluctant to take my case.

Hart Brown Solicitors Review – Incompetent and Unprofessional  

Hart Brown Solicitors are probably the worst solicitors I have had the misfortune to deal with in over 25 years of business. They were instructed by the freeholder of my leasehold flat to deal with a lease extension. I am required to meet their costs, although I am not their client, so I am prevented from complaining directly to Hart Brown about these issues.

Not only have they overcharged in my opinion (having obtained 3 other quotes which were half the price for the same work), they have completely mishandled a straightforward lease extension, drafting the wrong terms not once but twice.

When their mistake was pointed out the first time, they denied the error and only changed their position some 2 weeks later. In the meantime, I had incurred extra costs due to having to instruct in independent surveyor to re negotiate the terms, and even when this was done, Hart Brown drafted the lease incorrectly again, making the same mistake they originally made. They were not even able to get the name of our Conveyancer right in correspondence.  

When the mistake was pointed out for the second time, they again requested £500+Vat to fix it, adding to my escalating costs. Obviously we replied disputing the extra charges, but they are now ignoring our emails.

Total clowns! DO NOT USE Hart Brown Solicitors
