Ladies and Gentlemen, Dutton Gregory was recommend to me by a friend of mine working closely in the industry. Described as reliable and efficient. Happy to confirm this is absolutely truthful. I can comfortably add that they reply incredibly quickly. All nerves at ease with Dutton, choose them.

If you want a solictor that you have to do the job for them, chase several times to be ignored and are quite frankly incompetent - the team at Dutton Gregory are for you.

In other words avoid avoid avoid.

It actually pains me to have to pay them for what they made such an extremely stressful process.

I was roped in by being recommended by the estate agents (mistake number one) and a shiny app to monitor and track progress.

This didn’t work at all, nothing was ever updated and I had to chase constantly for email responses. On working with them I made clear that I’m a phone girl, it’s easier so please call but this didn’t happen. I barely heard from them at all.

They delayed my exchange and completion on the sale due to sitting on my file for 2 weeks instead of transferring money required for documentation, I almost lost my buyer.

On my onward purchase, we were meant to exchange on a Friday, we didn’t, yet I had zero communication from Gareth (my case handler) leaving me wondering what had gone on over a long weekend.

I raised my concerns and for the last 2 weeks we saw a slight improvement.

Dutton Gregory weren’t prepared to offer any compensation which is concerning as they don’t recognise how poor they’ve been.

I feel like I should be paying myself at this point for all the chasing and facilitating I did this end.

Really I don’t think they could care less about their customers, you’re passed from person to person left wondering what an earth is going on.

What’s gone so wrong in the industry that this service is the norm?

Please, take this review seriously and go elsewhere.

We've just completed on our hopefully forever home and couldn't be happier with Tom Whatley's services. We've never owned a property in the UK so had no idea what to expect, and coming from Germany where the process is so much easier and straightforward, we had a lot of probably stupid questions. if i could give half a star i would poor service 2years 5 months since my father passed away and his estate still not sorted no communication as all disgusted. have dealt with other solicitors and things have never taken this long. would not recommend at all. Normal no reply

I would give a minus review if I could. 18 months in my property and I still don't have the title deeds because of some mistake with the boundary. I have been told that it is the sellers solicitors delaying things but I NEVER get an update unless I chase and I get the distinct feeling that this gets ignored and put to the bottom of the pile until I chase. I shouldn't have to keep chasing this up! You should be calling the sellers solicitors daily and making a complete nuisance of yourselves to get them to do what they need to do. Customer service is non-existent and this is not the only issue I have had with them. They forgot to pay the HTB money over so I was getting chased for a debt that was cleared. It took a lot of emails, time and stress to get that one finally resolved. Maybe I should start charging them for all the time I am spending on this!

Come on Dutton Gregory.......sort yourselves out!

As an update to this Dutton Gregory have admitted to me today that despite me sending the Deed of Variation to them in October 2023 it has not been submitted to Land Registry but had been filed instead. They have all along blamed the sellers solicitors for the delay whilst sitting on the documentation themselves. So they basically lied to me each time I chased by telling me they were waiting for the sellers solicitors!

USE THESE PEOPLE AT YOUR PERIL

As a further update.....how about you refund me for some of the fees I paid you to do a job that you didn't really do. Or how about you give me a goodwill compensation payment for the 18 months of stress and work I have had to miss trying to sort this out with emails and phone calls. To misquote Oscar Wilde and the Importance of Being Earnest "to mess up on element of a house purchase may be regarded as a misfortune, to but to mess up two main elements looks like carelessness"

I highly recommend Dutton Gregory, for their professional, efficient and knowledgeable approach. Amber is fantastic, and I really appreciated all of her help and guidance.

The team at DG were very helpful and informative along the journey... Considering the process was all new to me, and the negotiations were over a 10-month period, their professionalism helped me during a very difficult time.
