I wish I had read these reviews before booking.

The insurance payment scam is not limited to Italy. I was charged £180 for non refundable insurance at the Glasgow Airport office because the debit card i used to pay for the hire online and the credit card I offered in the office for the deposit were different. Even when I offered the same debit card they refused saying it had to be a credit card. And it had to be the same. My option ? Leave without a car and lose the £321 already paid or pay them an additional non refundable £180 for their insurance. Despite having paid for fully comp cover online. It’s the most disreputable business practice I have ever come across. I’m still shocked it happened it the UK where we supposedly have trading standards and consumer protection.

Upon entering the premises at 10am I noticed pieces of paper glued to the wall, with warnings that abuse of staff is not appreciated. That was a huge red flag, but sadly the booking was already made. The person in front me had problems with their payment, so they had to pay again. My turn. I rented a petrol car but was given an electric car instead because they had no other car. I protested but had to give in because the alternative was waiting until 3pm, which made no sense for a two day road trip. At the end of the day, I had <10% battery left so I hooked it up to a charger, and it started charging. The following morning I came back and saw only 14% because charging had stopped after less than 1kw. that 14% was just enough to make it back to the premises. They had no other car to hand out so my rent was cut short to just one day. The promised a refund for the second day but that was probably only said to get rid of me. I never got a refund. I also filed a complaint at Holiday Cars through which I made the booking, but they preferred to be on the side of these misfits, so they will also receive a review. This will teach me never to book again with small local companies.

Drivalia Sheffield - The best rental company I have used in years! Exceptional service from the manager Sikandar, friendly and welcoming. The car was perfect, I have had no issues throughout my experience with Drivalia. I will be using them for any rentals I need in the future.
Definitely worth every penny with Drivalia. Stress-free experience from start to finish.

Absoluut geen auto boeken via deze rental! Je staat eerst 40 minuten in de rij om vervolgens te horen dat je je reservering niet hebt gehaald. Je kunt geen andere auto krijgen, ze sturen je gewoon weg. Oh ja en je krijgt een rekening van 80 euro voor de “annuleringskosten”. Klantenservice hebben ze niet van gehoord.

A soli dieci minuti dall’orario di ritiro sono stato contattato dalla società di noleggio per informarmi che la vettura di categoria H, precedentemente confermata, non era disponibile. L’unica alternativa proposta era un’auto di categoria A, nettamente inferiore rispetto a quanto prenotato. Inoltre, il personale si è dimostrato poco disponibile e per nulla orientato al cliente.

L’auto consegnata era in condizioni di pulizia inaccettabili, tanto che ho dovuto portarla immediatamente a lavare.

Mi era stato inoltre chiesto di richiamare nei giorni successivi per verificare la disponibilità di una vettura conforme alla prenotazione iniziale. Nonostante oltre dieci tentativi di contatto, non sono mai stato richiamato.

Infine, al momento della riconsegna ho trovato la filiale chiusa, nonostante dovesse essere aperta. Ho dovuto affrontare notevoli difficoltà per riuscire a contattare qualcuno e ricevere indicazioni su come procedere con la restituzione delle chiavi.

Drivalia UK er en absolutt scam. Min flight var 30 minutter forsinket, men jeg hadde skrevet flight-nummer i bestillingen. Det tar 40 minutter å hente bagasjen og å forflytte seg fra south terminal til north terminal Da jeg ankom resepsjonen ble jeg fortalt at reservasjonen min var kansellert pga. av at det var gått mer enn en time, men at jeg kunne få bilen mot å betale over dobbelt pris av hva som var avtalt (GBP 310 vs. 140)! Jeg ble fortalt at jeg bare kunne gå og finne en annen bilutleier (klokken var 11 pm) Etter 20 minutter med stor frustasjon måtte jeg bare bite i det sure eplet og betale - alternativet var å ikke komme videre. Jeg opplevde dette som ren utpressing. Det skal tilføyes at da jeg ankom resepsjonen var det høylydt krangel med to andre kunde, som hadde samme opplevelse. Jeg oppfordrer andre som har hatt samme opplevelse med Drivalia til å melde fra - slik at dette selskapet kan endre policy eller enda bedre gå ut av business. Før det skjer vil jeg oppfordre alle som skal leie bil til å unngå Drivalia, og heller betale litt mer til et skikkelig utleiefirma.

Dette selskapet har en misjon. Sørge for å doble kostnaden hvis du er uheldig å ha bestilt hos dem. Vi leiet bil hos London Heatrow hvor vi først måtte betale et for sent gebyr på £1110,-. Omsider fravek dem dette kravet men de tok det igjen når vi oppgraderte bilen til en større modell. Vi brukte 2 timer på å få hentet den ut og de greide å få lagt dobbel forsikring på. For deres egen skyld ligg unna dette selskapet. Jeg har ikke vørt borte i lignende på 30 år med leie av bil.

Cheap prices are just there to get you through the door, then they try to whack you with their ridiculously overpriced insurance.

If you refuse their insurance, suddenly you’re expected to jump through hoops — two proofs of address, flight numbers, DVLA reference codes and goodness knows what else.

It feels deliberately designed to make taking the cheap advertised price as difficult as possible so you end up paying for their insurance.

What looks like a bargain quickly turns into a rip-off. I definitely wouldn’t use them again.

I booked a car for a month for £920 through CarJet. I arrived at Drivalia at Birmingham Airport later than expected, and the office was closed. When I returned first thing the next morning, I was told they could not access my booking and that I needed to contact CarJet to change the booking date.

After a very long wait, CarJet told me they couldn’t change the booking and would contact Drivalia. After several emails back and forth, CarJet eventually refused to refund me, claiming the booking was non-refundable—something that was not clearly stated when I booked.

They have kept my entire £920 for a month-long rental, and I have received no car and no refund. Extremely disappointing experience. Stay away from CarJet and Drivalia. Neither company taking any responsibility.

Palma, what a terrible experience, waited 90 minutes to be served. Staff more interested in having their lunch break than dealing with customers. When asking for the manager I was rudely told that they were not there. The worst service by a mile I have ever had, avoid at all cost and cancel and book with another hire company. Will never use them again.

Flight was delayed due to a typhoon. I contacted Drivalia well in advance and was assured everything was fine. I'd paid over £900 for a 31 day car hire all up front.

Upon arrival, I was told "nope." No car. No refund. They were keeping the £900+ despite it being for 31 days as their terms and conditions state that arriving a few hours after agreed pickup time cancels the contract and no refunds.

The fact we were stranded didn't matter to them, the guy we were dealing with was only interested in trying to extort another £900 from us and the whole thing was quite frankly just horribly unpleasant after an already horrible experience of getting delayed in the airport in China.

Do not go with these people. Utterly soulless.

Ci hanno truffati, al momento della prenotazione hanno accettato la carta Revolut e hanno preso 212,88€, quando siamo andati a ritirare l’auto con la stessa carta ci hanno detto che a Revolut non va bene per il noleggio, non ci hanno dato l’auto e si sono rifiutati di rimborsarci. Sono scandalizzata da questa truffa!

went to pick up car in alicante airport on the 28th june, had paid platinium insurance with doyouspain, only to be told i had to pay an extra 269.00 euro for car insurance as they would not take my credit card by phone,but were well able to take my 269 euro by card on my phone , scammed out and told the doyuospain insurance was basically a waste of my money , i was totally misinformed by staff in office, and will never use them ever agiain, a great start to my hoilday .be warned.

Do not use this company to hire your car
We arrived to rent the car, they said they didn’t have any of the cars available of the type we had booked. Eventually they found one, it was completely dirty when we collected it and no one from the rental company came with us to get it. The car broke down through our hire. We were left stranded in 37 degree heat in a rural village with no shelter, I was 5 months pregnant. There was no assistance whatsoever from Drivalia to help us get a taxi to pick us up to get to the nearest Drivalia location to pick up a new car. They didn’t even provide us with a taxi number, we had to resort to going to the nearest vineyard for help. No one at either Florence or Pisa Drivalia locations were answering their phone numbers or WhatsApp in an emergency so we had to take a gamble and just get a taxi to the nearest location. They are now refusing to pay the full taxi fee even though their vehicle broke down due to a mechanical failure (apparently their policy is €200 max and it’s €250) - i still however haven’t received payment for anything for said taxi and it was almost two weeks ago i submitted the expense, I also cannot be given a time period from customer service as to when to receive this amount back. They also claim to have released my security deposit but that also has still not credited on my statement over 7 business days later now. They also cannot provide me with a time estimate as to when this will credit. Both cars that we hired from them were also older models and looked pretty scrappy from customer damage over time. Just don’t use this company.

Total shambles from minute I arrived in Edinburgh . 25 min to get picked up then charged £280 extra above my rental charge as would not except my bank card which had sufficient funds to pay /retained security deposit of £1500 ! But used same card as a retainer for possible parking fines or speeding tickets . My mother had been rushed into hospital and I needed transport asap ! Absolutely shocking company to deal with after care not helpful one bit . Rip off company stay well clear !!

I had booked an economy car online for June 1–5, 2026. When I arrived, they tried to rip me off—I was supposed to pay an extra £62, but they came up with a figure of £199!Just plain old con artists and thieves!!I didn't agree and resigned.!

The worst experience ever. Avoid using this company by all means. Upon arrival they make you wait for 2 hours in order to formalise contract. All other companies have 2-3 desk officers while Drivalia only has one which makes all their customers wait at check in for over 2 hours. After check in they inform you the the car you have booked is not yet available and you have to wait another 30-40 minutes to pick up the car.
After that they are rushing you to sign the contract, reject to register existing damages in the contract. Upon delivery they claim the preexisting damages as if they were made by the new renter.

The staff acknowledged to us that they greatly understaffed and are screwing their customers by making unjustified damage claims which are proven by the photos before signing the contract.

Drivalia Fiumicino is a scam!

The service was good overall. Everything was explained clearly, and the transaction was handled quickly and efficiently. However, the car’s key and tyre constant warnings added unnecessary stress.
The team was friendly, reachable, and supportive throughout our car rental journey.
However, the car did not appear to be properly checked before collection. About 30 minutes into our journey, we received a key fob battery warning, which caused unnecessary stress during our road trip, and we also had constant tyre pressure warnings throughout the rental despite inflating the tyres and raising the issue at collection. These problems could have been avoided with proper checks before the car was handed over.
