Cafe staff didn't really seem to make you feel welcome but maybe we caught them on a bad day. No clear
signs as to where to find sugar and spoons etc and at time of visit it wasn't particularly busy.

Great place with a range of great products.
Helpful staff, especially, Darren, Ian and Claire.
They are a credit to the business.
I was there for a week promoting my own business but bought loads of plants.
I would definitely recommend paying a visit.

Garden Center it is not
gift shop and cafe with staff that are clueless of what they stock untrained kids. If your into gardens this isn't the place to go it's nothing more than an expensive tacky gift shop.

Dobbies is a wonderful place.
It’s very large, has a fantastic selection of very well cared for plants, great selection of pots, tubs and soils, knowledgable, helpful staff.
The restaurant is clean, tidy and serves excellent food and drink options.
Highly recommend Dobbies, join the Dobbies family with a loyalty card and you get 2 free drinks a month, money off vouchers, exclusive discounts and a special birthday surprise.

Even though they seem to be experiencing some watering problems the staff are still very helpful

Everyone was so helpful, especially the lady at the till, who enrolled me as a member of your "club".
On all my recent visits, the staff has been so happy and smiling, and have helped me to my car with my goods, as I am slightly disabled. It's very much appreciated - thank you.

Great Plants, for Indoors, & Outdoors, plus seeds, bulbs, garden furniture & accessories, home goods, foods & cafe, where the food is delicious & prepared quickly. All the staff are friendly, helpful & welcoming. I love going!

We had a fantastic time looking at all the garden selections of plants and bulbs, and even came away with lots of lovely plants.
The staff were very helpful and friendly as well when I couldn’t find what I was looking for.
I can honestly say it’s a brilliant place to go for all your gardening needs and so reasonably priced.

£8.99 in the garden centre for a egg sandwich on bread but on the website same sandwich £4:25 ? Think Dobbies need to look how they are advertising online & instore 😱 outrageous & total service CHAOS in the cafe !!! Think the menu needs simplifying the staff don’t understand it !!!

We visited Dobbies at York this morning. I now wish I had never set foot in this particular branch, and will never go back there again. In January I joined the Dobbies club card scheme at our wonderful local Dobbies, Barlborough, Chesterfield. The staff at this centre are amazing, extremely helpful and have marvellous customer service skills. Unlike the 2 staff members at the York centre today, one of which informed me he was Mark, the duty manager. It started with the female assistant at the tills, who was extremely unhelpful, extremely unprofessional, and clearly did not have appropriate customer service skills. I would be very pleased to hear from a customer service representative at Dobbies, so I may discuss and explain the problem, rudeness and unproffesionalism of 2 staff members. With thanks.

I've been visiting the York Dobbies for over one year. Great location and adjacent to the Nether Poppleton EV Charging and Park and Ride.
Joining the Dobbies Club Class Plus scheme is tremendous value as you get discounts on just about everything and the subscription cost is easily offset by the 2 per month drinks and extra drinks and cake for a birthday treat.
I've always found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. The small but usually well stocked Waitrose store is very handy and the "essential" range is good value. There's even an on site bakery for lovely fresh bread.
All in all an excellent Garden Centre in a terrific location.

I found what I wanted and there was no queue to pay

I thought the gentleman who served me a bit condescending & the scone with jam & cream quite expensive (£4.75). I'm usually happy with everything at Dobbies but my last visit wasn't a happy experience.

Staff in the cafe are unpleasant. Customers are clearly an inconvenience. The basics are nowhere to be seen.

I visited Dobbies to collect some garden furniture. The items were ready for my collection & I was assisted by 2 members of staff to load them into my vehicle. It was excellent customer service.

We needed to replace one of our expensive ceramic planters which had blown over and smashed in the recent gales. To try to do this we tried telephoning Dobbies,York using the number on their web site and selecting "for Customer Services, press 2" option. We did this about about 6 times over several days and after waiting a good while each time there was no call pick up from anyone at Dobbies,York.
So, plan B was to go (today) to the garden centre - a 50 mile round trip - to see if we could get one on order (the right size was not in stock).
A member of staff on the till said we would need to speak with "the manager" and he was requested to come to help us (several times !).
After waiting for about 20 minutes we gave up and walked out - no apology or anything helpful from the staff member trying to find "the manager"
Pretty useless.
