Dobbies Garden Centres - Milngavie Omdömen 365

This particular Dobbies Restaurant deserves no stars at all. I'm sorry to use the word, but disgusting is the most appropriate word to describe the quality and standard of the poor customer service, accommodation, food and atmosphere here.

Lovely chairs covered in food, bird poo and other debris so we had to move the chairs around and clean 5 chairs and 2 tables which were joined together; this was easy enough as the restaurant was practically dead in the middle of a sunny, blue sky Easter Sunday; although we did have hale briefly at one point. Unfortunately, we still managed to have debris from the chairs stuck to our clothing despite our efforts.

A few minutes into our meal we saw a robin flying around the restaurant, but, all the doors and windows were closed. That explained all the dried bird poo on the chairs, so one wonders how long the robin had been in there, and despite customers pointing at it, the staff were completely disinterested. Cute robin, but quite unpleasant and totally unsanitary!

The ordering and delivery of food was fine, but there was no service beyond that; the staff were busy having long chats with each other and some to guests at a specific table. The one waitress who served us seemed to be the only busy person.

The menu was poor. The fish and chips were okay, but the 3 light sandwiches with soup were totally bland, cardboard-like and unpleasant. The tuna sandwich and the beef sandwich were both bland and tasteless; how is that even possible? The horseradish which came with the beef sandwich was bitter and tasted of nothing else at all leaving one to wonder was this even horseradish? There was no mustard in the sauces either. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to eat to facilitate taking medication with a meal so my friends accommodated me. £73 would have been reasonable if the food was even remotely palatable.

Up until 2022, we enjoyed meeting to shop for our garden requirements and have a lunch and a wee catch up at Dobbies Milngavie, but the honestly each one of us were so put off that I can state categorically that none of us plan to go back there again. We will do our shopping and our catch-up elsewhere.

From the state of this restaurant one would be forgiven for thinking the managerial staff at the restaurant are not attentive or have appropriate experience.

On the other hand, with so many public complaints over nearly 3 years, is this just another business being let down by upper management because before writing this I read the reviews and I am wondering who the responders from the Dobbies Team reported the complaining reviews to, because nearly 3 years of consistent complaints by customers and it certainly appears that absolutely nothing constructive has been done to improve customer service, the quality of the food, and sanitation at this restaurant.

For reference, the last few times we ate at this restaurant up until early Easter 2022, the restaurant was always full; so much so that we had to wait to be seated on occasion. Now the restaurant appears to be neglected and practically dead on what was once a very busy day of the year at that location. How extremely disappointing.

Just bought box of Linder chocolates costing £8. Same box £5 in Asda. Ridiculous! Lesson learned 😢

errible experience with outdoor plants I purchase through Too good to go app My friend and I both bought a £ 10 bundle of outdoor plants - so spent £20 between us What we picked up from Dobbies were absolutely awful plants I asked to speak to the manager who told me despite looking dead the plants should come up next year! I told him I’d bought several bundles of plants At Dobbies before which were in great condition He still refused to resolve the issue I contacted Too good to go who were horrified at the state of the plants and immediately refunded our £20
What has upset me most is I have Dobbies a chance to resolve this by swapping our nearly dead plants for some in a bit better condition Shame on you Dobbies !

Attended for coffee and shopping on 29th September and was sorely disappointed! no clean tables available. On clearing some dishes asideI wondered why my saucer was filling up despite drying with a napkins! I realised there was major cracks and chipped on the cup ! I returned to the counter and the assistant asked the other young assistant to change it! she did 'nt speak and eventually placed another coffee on the counter - no saucer and no apology I wasn't sure this was mine or not as folk awaiting on their orders too! after some minutes I asked and was told oh yes that's yours!
I understand the store was busy however felt the manner I was treated was offhand and quite rude.! I definitely won't return there.

Just took my two grand children aged 3 and 7 months to see Santa at Dobbies Milngavie. What a real disappointment. No signs up to point you in the direction of Santa and his elves on entering We stood and waited for ages to see Santa as one of the elves had called in sick lol so there was a backlog. When we got inside i was gobsmacked at how little effort had been made and how basic and shoddy it was. We were given a ticket for a train ride which turned out to be a dining bench with a projector showing Christmas animations, just as well my little one is 3 any older kids who be like whatt!?! Lol
On the positive Santa was lovely and his reindeers were cute
Dobbies in future just charge a bit extra and make a bit more of an effort for the kids

Visited restaurant for coffee and scones. Had to ask for teaspoons, napkins and jam. Tables not cleared of used dishes and trays. Very disappointing, different experience on previous visits, sorry to say need to do better in this hospitality venue.

Our family attended the Teddy bear picnic at Milngavie Dobbie's for our children. Just wanted to say the event was absolutely brilliant. Staff were amazing and so friendly and patient with all the children. Thanks so much. Highly recommended the event. The Teddy bears are so cute and our girls took them to bed with them. The staff made it a really lovely experience for all the children.

DOBBIES MILNGAVIE, AFTERNOON TEA, TERIBLE WORST EVER
MY WIFE AND FRIEND WENT FOR AFTERNOO TEA ON TUESDAY 9TH JULY AND HAD THE WORST TEA EVER, A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY.
They were put at the back of the restaurant on their own beside the children’s play area and it was dark and cold with NO atmosphere.
The afternoon tea was extremely disappointing.
2 small hard scones, 3 TINY slivers of sandwiches, 1 salmon, 1 very slim slice of gammon, 2 with the smallest thinnest cheese, 3 SMALL cakes
We also asked for some hot water NO waitress appeared and we had to go to the counter and had to go again for another plate.
WE WILL NEVER GO BACK FOR ANOTHER AND WE WILL BOTH TELL ALL OF OUR FRIENDS AND LADIES THAT COFFEE.
THIS WAS SHOCKING FOR A BUSINESS OF YOUR SIZE AND ASKING AROUND WE WERE NOT ALONE IN OUR EXPERIENCE.
THIS WAS DEFINATELY NOT WORTH THE £20.00 PAID.

Servers very nice but this is our last visit to this restaurant!

What I wanted was available and easy to find. Checkout was quick and efficient.

Clean store well laid out although it took a little longer than I anticipated to find the item I specifically wanted, this was perhaps due to reorganisation of displays, the service at tills was speedy and very efficient

Great service, pleasant staff,good range if goods

Called into the cafe, Staff were too busy having a chat to be bothered with customers. When we eventually managed to order food we waited for 15 minutes before the food arrived as the staff were still gathered around chatting. the food was substandard, cold and very unpleasant. I assume our meals had been left on a serving shelf until a point where the staff ran out of things to chat about. The cafe wasn't even busy. The vast majority of tables were empty. Needless to say we will never set foot in this cafe again

Absolutely love Dobbies. Never come out empty-handed. Always find what I'm looking for.

pleasant atmosphere, shop well laid out and restaurant good

Went to Dobbies Milngavie for breakfast. We were told the gas was off hence no breakfast. Without looking at the prices we ordered 2 rolls (doublers) a tea and a Cappuccino. The price £17.50. Absolutely atrocious and felt like a complete rip off, never again.

Every time I visit dobbies I find what I'm looking for. The staff at the Milngavie store always go above and beyond to help. They are always cheery and welcoming.

Nice surroundings and nice food. Plenty of room so you don't feel that other customers are able to hear your conversation. Staff very pleasant
