Dobbies Garden Centres - Gailey Omdömen 272

A comfortable and pleasant experience when you enter my local store either for a coffee or a plant or two.Nice .Keep those tables clean.

I recently visited the Gailey/Penkridge branch and was really disappointed. Many of the plants looked in fairly poor condition and very expensive compared to the privately run centers which are nearby. We also visited the cafe where a 330ml can of Coke was an incredibly expensive £2.55! Can't see us returning any time soon.

This is my local garden centre which I visit weekly. The customer service from the staff in the garden centre is fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. Today I was helped by Craig and Zak with a heavy planter and have been helped by Craig several times in the past.
I do however, think the restaurant either needs more staff or a better system when it comes to taking orders.

Excellent service from one particular member of the team Michelle. She went out of her way to help me before I even asked. Really friendly, helpful and kind.

The staff are very helpful, but unfortunately not enough staff in the cafe. Tables not cleaned on a regular basis, Did afternoon tea, but unfortunately didn't get any top up drinks.

Disappointed with cafe/restaurant on this visit, obviously under staffed as we were rudely told that although we only required drinks, we would have to wait in the queue with customers who were ordering hot food!!
Choice of cakes on this occasion was poor and the scones looked quite stale.

Not impressed at all with the restaurant service .
Called in here today 18/2/24 at 10.35 for a coffee, however we ended up getting a bite to eat also.
The issues were-
1. Long queue and only 2 serving with no sense of urgency.
My husband had toast which the server put in toaster and then stood there twiddling his thumbs (whilst queue was getting longer ) waiting for the toast to cook. Don’t think he had heard of being PROACTIVE

2 The guy in till refused to serve 2 women who had gone before us while we were waiting for toast , even though they only wanted a hot drink. His response was ‘ head office have told us we have to serve in order’

3 The green carpet in the seating area was dirty and looked like it needed a good vax .

Also in the way out we noticed the entrance area glass was absolutely filthy and there were plants growing through the gaps.

Needless to say this is the first and last time we will be visiting this branch.
On way home we decided to call in our local branch and what a difference . ….. Immaculate

We have a new pet and I like that I can take my new dog inside so I can have my coffee too. The staff welcome him and it makes me feel welcome too.
The garden centre stocks lots of pet supplies and some are very unique it makes for a very interesting shop

Lovely restaurant with a great choice of food on the menu. Dobbies have a supermarket in store as well as a wide range of gardening items.

Every time come to restaurant for cake and coffee never many cakes left it’s only 2pm and tables are never cleared or cleaned staff just standing about please sort this

Generally I do like Dobbies and find it a reliable shop to source my gardening needs. Also like the in store Waitrose.

The cafeteria disappoints though. Although the food and drinks are pretty decent, there are always lots of tables that have not been cleared.

I popped in today at 3.30 for coffee and cakes. Could see two people working. One on the till and serving, the other one cleaning the service area. The seated area was maybe one third full and majority of the other tables had uncleared trays on them. Had to move trash to another table to make room for myself.

Staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming, the store is laid out well from accessiblity point of view as is the cafe.
Lots of gift ideas too. Well worth a visit.

We purchased everything that we had gone to the Garden Centre for

Shopping with my elderly mother in law who sadly has dementia. Staff were rude and impatient with her and even had the sheer audacity to ask me if I had paid for goods when the receipt was in my hand! Staff were loud, rude and disrespectful towards us when she regretfully forgot her PIN number and demanded an alternative payment when patience and a short phone call on my behalf resolved the matter. The cashier, scruffy in appearance, tried to put the transaction through again and the computer ‘crashed’ and yet it was still our fault for inserting the card instead of using contactless payment! Other shoppers were also rude towards my mother in law who luckily did not hear them. Will NEVER shop in Dobbies again in particular the Gailey store
