Incompetent and sneaky
I have a UK bank account but I am now travelling in India. I already bought various items, tickets, etc. online from Amazon, 12go, etc. and I found in Desertcart a product I wanted to buy. First, I contacted their customer service and they told me that I could have the item delivered at my hotel in India and pay with my UK Visa card.
I tried but the payment was rejected, so I contacted Desertcart again, told them that I was not asked a BILLING address, and I was advised to use their app, but again the payment was unsuccessful. I spent anothe 1/2 hour chatting with them and trying to pay to no avail.
I could not believe that they did not know that a billing address is necessary to have payments approved, especially when different from a delivery address.
Later I tried to cancel my account, as I had signed for PRO (with a yearly fee to pay later), but the operator told me it was not possible and only after pointing out that it was illegal to keep my details without my consent they told me that they would do it within 48 hours.
