Pls avoid! We have done a substantial build and 6 months post ending we still don’t have sign off. Our surveyor has changed multiple times and our latest surveyor claims he doesn’t have time for us as he’s got 300 clients/ projects - so “he will get to us when he gets to us!”.

Pls avoid at all costs - will cause you delays and huge frustration.

I would give a zero if I could. Incredibly disorganised and non-communicative company. Caused a big delay to our project and caused a lot of stress.

Cook Brown have always been good to work with. I own my construction company and there has never been an issue.
Eddie King in particular is by far the best building inspector around and I would recommend him to anyone! He is always on the phone or on site if you need him, gives good solid realistic advice and its a pleasure to work closely with him on many projects over the years.
I am aware of the bad reviews but since this time they have a new team and the previous problems have left the company. Top quality service

We’ve been working with CookBrown Building Control on our new gym and social club project in the centre of town, and the service has been exceptional. We’ve been dealing with the newly formed London office team, and they have been brilliant from the outset.
A special mention has to go to Edward King, who has been an absolute standout throughout the process. He is incredibly responsive, very knowledgeable, and consistently provides clear, practical advice on building regulations. He’s accommodating, supportive, and genuinely a breath of fresh air to work with.
Edward has given us real confidence at every stage, and we feel completely comfortable calling him onto site whenever needed. His professionalism and reassuring approach have made what could be a stressful part of the build feel smooth and straightforward.

We couldn’t recommend Edward - and the whole new London office team at CookBrown - highly enough. Exceptional service from the start.

My experience with Cook Brown Building Control has been nothing short of appalling. Our case (LN75483) was initially handled by Adrian, who left the company halfway through the process – and frankly, given the chaos I’ve experienced, I’m not surprised he left.

After Adrian’s departure, Max took over, but the situation only worsened. Communication has been virtually non-existent, and I’ve had to chase daily for updates. Every time I call, I’m either redirected back to Max or asked for forms that were submitted weeks ago. When I do get a response, it’s vague and leaves me feeling like something is always missing.

This lack of organisation and accountability has caused significant delays to my project and a huge amount of stress. It feels like there is no ownership of the issue, no urgency, and no care for the client experience.

I would strongly advise anyone considering Cook Brown to think twice. Based on my experience, they have demonstrated a complete disregard for customer service and professional responsibility.

Bad customer service. We had an issue with part of the build. Cookbrown made a mistake issuing the report and then lied about what was discussed in the meeting re options available resulting in us suffering a financial loss. The events was independently witnessed by our builder. Have written to the regulator.
