A very high amount of dead wood on this dating website: profiles which have not been active for some time. Over a month could mean any time after it — so people may not have been on the site for potentially years. Others are just having a look around and a bit curious with no intention of meeting anyone. Even the ones which say they are genuine may not be and just either haven't the energy, will, or ability to bring someone into their life. Or when they get to the brink of meeting, they will pull out and probably watch their favorite TV show instead or be work obsessed. You get a lot of unresponsive people so don't waste your time on them, but this is true of all dating websites. They don't snow you under with spam or at all, but you should never use you main email address for any dating website just in case. It's 100% free at the moment and you do not have to be a member to see profiles — so remember anyone can see your profile without signing up. But they have to sign up to message you. Profile approval takes up to 24hrs and can take longer. You may have get in contact with admin to get them to do it. If you have forgotten that you had an old profile and do up a new one, they may flag you as a scammer and you will not get approved. Delete the old one first. The have a lot of very good advice on dating scammers and it's worth reading the tips on this. As with all dating websites there are people trying to scam people out of money with hard luck stories etc. It is very easy to use and very easy compared to some of the subscription ones. Problem is that people can walk away anytime they want. With a subscription based dating website, profiles are likely to be far more active as money is coming out of their account. Connecting singles has been around for some time and one could end up with exactly the same results with regard to meeting people or not as a debiting dating website so....

thinking the site is a waste of time. so many scammers on the site. otherwise it's a shame because it has the potential to be a good site with all the functions it possesses. They have a policy that if a guy doesn't like one of your comments, they flag you and your profile and all your conversations are gone. Of course, the good side of it is that some scammers get caught that way. The downside is that people who have good intentions get blocked without warning.

0 stars would be more appropriate. This site host a lot of spammers sending you messages to join some doggy websites or asking you to buy premium for more advance surfing. My account has disappeared suddenly, while I can still change the settings in it i cannot see my profile and it says that such profile doesn't exist. It's an absolute time wasting, spam creating website. Stay away!!!!!

Dot com joke dating sites - like POF (aka Plenty of Fakes/Flakes), Match, Eharmony, OKcupid (aka OKstupid), Zoosk, and even ConnectingSingles (who I still think the latter one is better than all the formers mentioned) - all allow scammers to post online ads on their sites. The sad part is - is that they all do nothing to pre-screen these ads & pix posted, and even far less if you report them as being Fake!

In the case of POF (if you complain about a gal's Fake ad) the warped owner of that site Markus Frind (aka Markus Fiend) based up in Vancouver BC, Canada actually bans you (the informer), and he removes Your ad - esp if it's a guy complaining about a gal. If you're wondering why keep reading below about doing a Google search of why & how, and a negative review that I did years ago of BS dating sites.

One big reason they do little to remove these known Scam ads before they are posted is because of the advertising $$$ they get every time this Fake ad is posted by a scammer. Call it Hits, or Cha-ching, or money in the bank - it's all about money & profit every time you click on an ad at one of these so-called dating sites. So the longer that Fake dating ad stays up, and gets opened - the more "affiliate marketing ads" AdSource advertising money the site owner(s) makes - Fact! If they can milk money out of you as a paying member, than all the better, or more icing on the cake as it were.

Do a Google search of an "unbiased" review I did some 11+ yrs ago on POF titled "Why POF SUCKS". It is found on a popular "unbiased" online dating sites review site (www dot datingsitesreviews dot com), and there You'll get some real insight on how this POF site, and others listed as well, SCAM YOU out of your personal info (email addy's, pix, etc) & money just signing up either for supposedly Free, or a ridiculous fee.

My profile was rejected for no valid reason, whilst they have 3 profiles for the same female….go figure !!!!!

I created my profile for the first time in 2010 (I deleted it after 3 years in 2013). I met a lot of people, with some of them I am still in touch. Later, something on the web has changed, I could not create my profile again (I was trying for 3 times in different period of time, it shows me my profile was not approved, even though all the info I put there was true. Looks like now they only approve profiles of some old guys and young women are not allowed 😂 Disaster. Such a pity this web went into such a bad direction.

There is of course no such thing as a free lunch.
This site scams their users out of their personal data, credit card data and their money.

Rubbish site

Been on Connecting Singles for a few years now. Make sure you have a few free reverse image search engines (google, tineye, bing) to use because a lot of pictures used by the scammers are usually from a porn site (the clothed photos of course) or famous person site and there are a lot of scammers. The games and puzzles on the site do not work anymore because Adobe Flash is discontinued. There is no section for bisexuals and there is no tick off boxes for what race you are you can only choose one or be multiracial. I know some people who can tick off all the races as there race. If you are in the Forums be prepared for far right winged racism and be prepared to be attacked if you go against it and this is allowed. Even death threats against politicians are swept under the rug by deleting the post but allowing the person to do it again.

It is possible to meet real people on Connecting Singles, as long as you stay away from the public forums and blogs.
Many people complain of scammers, but they can be filtered out. If you are a 60 year old man, that 30 year old beauty does not want you for your personality. Some people beg to be scammed and then complain afterwards. It's their own fault.
As for the public forums and blogs, there are/were a few decent people on there, people who could write well and also enjoy a laugh. These people have mainly left due to the agenda and/or lack of proper moderation of the site.
There is a definite bias towards allowing and encouraging right wing/racist rhetoric, whilst those brave enough to confront it either get banned,or leave in disgust. Although this is supposed to be a global site, it is very few very brave non-white, non-christian souls who manage to stay sane on the public arena as they have to deal with racist/religious abuse on a daily basis.
Speaking of sanity, that is also something in short supply. White supposedly-Christian older men and women on the blogs constantly write absolute rubbish about necessary vaccinations being a method of Bill Gates injecting 5g into you or some such crap. They wouldn't be allowed to write their mindless rubbish anywhere else. It has spoiled the site for normal people who joined up to actually meet people and interact with likeminded people from across the globe.
The owners/moderators should decide what they want from the site. If it is just a platform for white right-wingers who call everybody who disagrees with their viewpoint a 'libtard', then advertise it as such, and not as a global dating site where everybody is welcomed and their opinion as valid as those others.

Old guys rule the site with approval of the administration!
They send you nasty, sexually explicit messages and when you reply in a sarcastic, truthful manner and block those guys, then they complain to the administration of Connecting Singles which gets you banned for nothing.
It's a massive number of men without the photos who feel free to verbally abuse you ( in Ireland ).
If your photos are attractive then you get everything: sexual messages from youngsters and bitter, full of hatred messages from older men.
Some men have been on the site for years, since 2015 etc. and in reality no-one wants any serious relationship.
It's either sexual encounters, adult chats or begging for your nude photos.

The site is a joke and I will not recommend anyone to use it. I'm picky and maybe I have been unlucky.
But I feel offended after my profile was deleted for nothing and the guy will be abusing other women who don't hit back.

Any free website you will get what you pay for and they all crawl with scammers, expect your mailbox to explode when you join! But it IS genuinely free and there ARE real singles on there. I like CS. It basically changed my life, not because I met Mr Right but because while I still thought he was Mr Right I got involved in the blogs and forums and made some unexpected friends. He's still one. I'd recommend to anyone trying to get back into single life, because it's like a crash course in being single second time round. The blogs and forums are like a gigantic coffee shop, crammed with bores, weirdos, and comedians, it's fun learning to dodge.

(Updated to say the site has changed hands 2024 and none of the above applies any longer, but it was fun back in 2018)

The batty old guard rules the show on connecting singles, a bunch of bitter manipulative old broads who feel threatened by those younger or more attractive than them. If you don't share their self righteous opinions they gang up on you in the blogs and forums. They don't mind dying alone and to make matters worst the toxic, ugly crowd from the late MatchDoctor have taken over the site which means it won't be long before they burn this dating site to the ground as well.

Yes we own the forums.
We decide who gets banned and who doesn't.
We been around for years just look at the threads and posts.
When we don't like what you have written on the forums we will ban you and remove all your threads and post.
If you don't believe me just have a look on the forum.
Only the threads and posts of a select few stay the on what we don't want we remove.
You can say anything you want on the forums but it has to be approved by us. If we don't agree with it it's goodbye for you and all your posts.

There are members who post the most racist things on there about Jews, Muslims, Africans basically anything that isn't a white christian and absolutely nothing happens to them.and there are about 10 to 20 regular posters 10 to 15 of them will gang up on you if you state the facts about christianity and the crimes christians committed but at the same time they post ridiculous crazy things about anything that isn't white christian!!!
Few examples.
1.The Europeans did great and peaceful things in Africa and when Europeans left,Africa got messed up....
2.should we kill all the Muslims...?
3.about the genocide trial in the Hague ( Bosnia, Balkans) " thousands of dead Muslims,why are we complaining"

This site is horrible and unacceptable regarding dating prospects. There are large number of fake profiles which are not search by site and removed but rather allowing to be posted for false perception that there is plenty of real members.
Some profile are made by staff to add to number and they have all over site in different section to use as bait for real member to pretend that there is a lot of other "real members" and to cause false interest.
They also remove frequently profiles of real members which they do not like either because of some comments or too much of activity.
They do not respond to complains so they are quite arrogant. Many fake profiles are staying because they do not want to loose to many profiles, and are pretending that there is large number of real members.
This is dreadful site so find some other which maybe is more operative. However there is no honest site so far for all of them, are using deceitful approach to drawn people to become paid member by producing and/or allowing fake profiles to be on site as bait. Therefore perhaps old fashion way to try to get acquainted with another person is to be in social places personally rather the using sites for that purpose, but with caution because there are many deceitful people who are trying to take advantage of others and are for dishonored purpose like scavenging for monies or sex. That is for a women and for men as well. Therefore no matter what gender is there are still dishonest people out there and for that reason you have to be careful and not get to excited right away but rather take with caution and slow to be not disappointed latter.
