Positive experience with Toilet purchases
I purchased 3 Toto Drake toilets from Build.com. I was leary based on the reviews but honestly it was the best experience I have had. The toilet pieces arrived unbroken, perfectly packaged and they always kept me informed as to when I was to receive my next shipment. My take away is: Do not always rely on reviews because you may hear more negative, then postive.
I ordered an item and received the wrong one, no refund no return, no replacements
I ordered an item and received something similar but not what I ordered and would not work. Waited hours to finally get ahold of someone who supposedly created return and it looked legit but then somebody along the line denied the return even though I was sent the wrong item. Replacement items had already been sent and canceled. The customer service I just spoke to told me if it gets denied again just sell it on FB marketplace, tf no, send me the right thing or come and get your return. Does not appear at this time that either is going to happen.

I returned 75 pieces of hardware because they did not match my cabinets and only got refunded for 25 pieces. I have inquired 2x with customer service with no reply from them..this is stealing
This Place - Don't Waste Your Time or Money
This Place - I won't even call it a company, as that would tarnish the name of real individuals that work hard and actually run reputable companies - is a complete and total FRAUD. DO not do business with this Place even if it looks to be a good deal...it is NOT!! I put something in my cart at one price; the website then prompted me to create an account for checkout; I took a screenshot of the cart (didn't know if the site would refresh and lose the item, and I wanted to make sure to get the same thing), created the account, the website refreshed (2 secs later). The price went up by over 100%. Sent the screenshot (5 sec later) to Customer "service," and their response, "oh, yes, that is a screenshot from our website, but we CAN'T (translation won't) honor that price." If I had used the time to checkout instead of creating the account, I would have purchased it at the lower price. However, looking back now, I am glad it didn't go through because after reading other reviews, WOW. I should have read those before I clicked on their site but didn't. I hope others out there are smarter than me and read reviews before doing business with this bait-n-switch outfit. Please think twice before you turn over your hard-earned money to a place that doesn't value its customers.
Beware of Customer Service Promises
I thought we had found a great website for contractors until we didn’t. Their customer services lie to you about ETA on delivery and what you need in terms of what each model requires .They hand out their emails and you never hear back. They give you their extension as if it is some big company secret and never, not once actually answer nor follow through. They assure you that this model goes with that model and when it is incorrect assure you with an insipid “ no problem” which becomes a huge problem to replace. We just spent over $6,000 and their one big mistake on an order came with no apology only a fake attempt to make things right which they did not. Our company is done with them. Already started another house with Wayfair.com Contractor/Pro
Horrible quality lighting fixtures
I purchased a Beautiful lighting fixture online from Build.com two years ago (1.5 yrs really) - at the end of 2020 I noticed that my lighting fixture began to tarnish, this lighting fixture is located in the bedroom and I do not live next to any damn warm moist environment. Which is why I'm extremely confused at the poor quality of this lighting fixture, not to mention the fact that I have chandeliers and other fixtures throughout the house that have been installed after I renovated maybe 15 years ago and they are still in perfect condition as though I purchased them yesterday. Meanwhile this one fixture from Build.com has deteriorated in less then a year and a half. But conveniently for this website after I reached out they told me that my warranty was up and that they could not do anything to assist me. When I reached out the second time I had a customer service representative call me and leave a message - of course when I called back no one no one answered and no-one returned my call. I really don't recommend purchasing from this website, simply because the company does not standby products. I would've been happy have they offered me a replacement ( which they still have on the website) or even a 50% off discount so that I can repurchase it or purchase something else. Either way they could have been creative with trying to satisfy an upset customer. Going forward whoever comes into my house and whoever asks me about my lighting fixtures or inquires about where to purchase items for their home I will be sure to make it a point to share my experience about how horrible Build.com is. There are plenty of other places that would honor a return or exchange for an odd situation like this where the quality of the finish of a lighting fixture is so poor that it tarnishes for no apparent reason. Stay away from this website, their customer service is awful, and they can care less about your satisfaction with the product. They're also extremely unresponsive to emails. Just something to keep in mind.

This has been the worst experience with this company. I received two pendant lights and one of the shipments came with missing parts. We needed lights set up ASAP in the home we are selling so unfortunately had to go a different direction and had to choose lights that were ready to go. I initiated a return with build and got an approved return with a return label sent. I was sent two different shipments and needed two different return labels. Only one was sent. I emailed asking for a second label to be sent. I got a response saying they would send another... days go by and no label. I email again and the next person tells me there was nothing online stating parts would be included and if I can prove that they will send the parts needed. LOL!!!! In the directions of the light being sent it shows ITEMS INCLUDED FOR INSTALLATION. I have to prove online that these are to be included????? Even AFTER I’ve been approved for return. It’s been over a week of me asking for a second return label to be sent. I don’t want anything from this company but a refund. Worst customer service and do not recommend working with them to anyone. The light itself is nice but if parts are missing what’s the point? It says in the directions what’s included so I should receive those exact items. I shouldn’t have to prove anything or go to a hardware store and buy them myself. If I get approved for a refund I should be sent a label for each item sent. This whole process has been horrible. Never again. Go somewhere else.

...And if they ever tell you an item is backordered, here's what they REALLY mean: We'll take your money anyway and you may or may not receive it. And, we're happy to will keep sending you delay notifications (I said enough after being jerked around for 6 months). Now, we'll see how good they are at refunding my money.

Absolutely a nightmare!! Trying to get money back on returned items... good luck!! I will be calling my credit card company and putting a stop on this charge. Do not do business with this company unless you love headaches.

Zero stars would be more accurate. I ordered a faucet, got a mail saying i needed to call in to verify some info. Spent 1 hour on hold. Tried chat on website as the hold message said for “faster service”. I was 22nd in line for chat. After 45 minutes of waiting, it was my turn! Finally! Oops, Then it simply said no agent available and ended my session asking me to rate the experience. What a f***ing joke. They need to be shut down.
Poor Customer Service and Deliveries
I am a retired engineer and since retiring I do small renovating jobs in my neighborhood to pickup a few dollars for golf .. I was asked by a neighbor to replace a marble top in her half-bath along with a new faucet ,light fixture, and mirror . Not wanting to deal with Amazon I found Build.com in my search and presented the items I found and was accepted by the homeowner. I ordered a Magellan Kingston Brass KB96 faucet , and light fixture ,, according to there sight ALL were in stock, 20 faucets were ready to be shipped and would be delivered February 19 .. Not receiving the item I called Build.com and after waiting on hold for 45 minutes my call was finally answered by a real person . I explained the situation , Not being paid until the job was complete , and put on hold for 5 minutes , and when we began discussing the situation a system error was the problem ( how many times do we hear this ) and the faucet set would be shipped 2 day air and would be considered a " No Cost " replacement " .. I questioned the " no cost " and was assured that my cc would not be charged for this item .. I told the homeowner that build.com was sending a " NO COST " replacement and it would be deducted from the final invoice ..Once received I installed the faucet set and when the water was turned on a small leak was discovered .. I did not want to over torque the nut so I shut off the water and attempted to contact the manufacturer of the faucet with the phone number on the installation sheet , after almost an hour of hearing a recording on how busy they were I sent an email to Kingston Brass Tech Support asking for help .. Well it's been around a month and still no response .. They must really be busy .. I just received my credit card statement and lo and behold I was charged for the faucet .. Tried calling customer support at build.com , and after about 45 minutes on hold I decided to send a email to them describing the situation ,, It took 6 days to get a return response telling me that a " NO COST " replacement means you will not be charged for the missed initial order but most certainly will be charged for the second !!!!!! I did not go back to the customer concerning the charge and just ate it .. I will never do business with Build.com and suggest if you are considering them FIND SOMEONE ELSE ..
March mini-fridge
I purchased a mini-fridge (3/12/2021), and shipping stated 3-6 weeks. I was charged for the product, even though they (build.com) now tell me this will not be available for shipment until at least July (2021)! Yet, their website still shows the same fridge with the 3-6 week shipping time frame. Misleading customers and terrible customer service.
Horrible Business
I went to order with a representative on the phone last week and he was supposed to email the cart including the discount so I can pay with PayPal. Instead the person sent me the regular price and created an account for me. I didn't ask for an account to be created. I tried call the representative and could not reach him. I asked for an account to be closed and instead I received an email stating did you change your email address. Then I was told I would receive one final email stating the account was closed. I never received this. If this is there procedure, they should specify beforehand. I would never recommend them

I have never in all my life dealt with a company like this. Please do not purchase from them as they lie and make you wait on the phone for wait times longer than 1 hour. I ordered a vanity which was damaged however, I took pictures and sent them in to the representative and was told they would send another vanity out. Meanwhile, I never received in writing a confirmation on what to do with the other vanity. It was finally disposed of and picked up habitat for humanity. the replace came despite calling and wanting an order status since we were doing a home Reno. Problem is they have caller id and don't want to be bothered with and the vanity came without a top????I have been on hold now for over an hour only yo get a rep acting like he couldn't hear me. Give me my money back . never again this place is a joke.

Ive never written a bad review for anyone before now
I ordered a ceiling light fixture from them but the enclosed invoice said someone else’s order: a lamp shade meant for Cooper Electric. I had to repack, print a label, and drive it to UPS. If I still want the light fixture I had to reorder it. The price went up! So I bought it from a competitor. Tracking showed that they received it. After 3 weeks no refund from them so I called. I was assured I would get my refund. The next day I GOT A PARTIAL REFUND! Why??! I will never buy from them again
Delivered Next Day...
So I came here to post a review following a positive experience I've had with build.com and am amazed by the awful reviews. I had placed an order for a Delta faucet from one of the big box stores. Three weeks later and two weeks after the expected delivery date, the box store was unable to give me a date. They were helpful and contacted Delta and they informed me that the faucet was on backorder *from the manufacturer*. Yesterday I found the faucet on build.com, indicating several were in stock. The price was comparable so I placed the order and it was delivered TODAY. I expected it tomorrow, which in itself was great, but 24 hours later? Now that is awesome. I also had purchased another faucet on online from a different vendor but the faucet was shipped by build.com and, again, the faucet was in my hands so fast. I will definitely consider them for future projects and am very pleased. Thank you!
This company is a nightmare
This company is a nightmare. Ordered an drawer accessory for the kitchen. Arrived damaged. Filed a claim. 2 months later nothing heard back. Have tried 4 times to contact customer service. NO ONE ever answers their phones and online chat cuts you off after waiting 25 minutes. These people are shambolic
Will Never Use Again - Build.com is Dishonest
I had never used Build.com before and will never use them again after my experience. On their website it showed items in stock that I needed so I placed an order.
Next day, received an email saying the items would be shipped out over a month later because there was no stock even though the website showed over 30 in stock for each item.
Tried to Chat with an "Expert" and after waiting 35 minutes for chat, I decided to call. Waiting another 20 minutes on the phone while Chat was still waiting and finally got someone on the phone. They told me they'd look into it and get back to me. Received an email the next day saying the items were in stock and would ship.
4 days go by and nothing. I then Chat again and tell them to cancel my order. Simple as that. Received an email the next business day saying the order can't be cancelled because it was shipped.
March 5: Cancel the Order
March 8: Order Shipped, can't Cancel
March 10: Order Actually Ships
They had over 2 days to cancel this order and didn't. Now I'm stuck with trying to get the items shipped back and having to print out return labels (I don't have a printer) and then take to a UPS store. So no matter what I'm out of time and money as I won't give this crap company any of my money. I thought Ferguson was a good company but I guess not.
DO NOT USE! You might get lucky and have a good experience but you probably have better odds playing the lottery.
