Blacks - Nottingham Wheeler Gate Omdömen 

Visited on 12th July just after mid day with a very strange fault on a pair of boots I had bought a few months before - the staff could not have been more helpful. They assessed the shoe, found the transaction history with the info I had as I'd lost the paper receipt, helped me pick out a new suitable alternative as that particular boot was discontinued and they just made it very very easy to resolve the problem. Huge thank you to everyone working that day - very happy with the outcome, will be coming back next time I need new outdoors gear.

Really great staff, knowledgeable, friendly and non-pushy. They're always interested in the reasons you want to buy things and happy to suggest options. Excellent range of products in stock too. Alison xx

Great product, however the greeting of a member of staff when I walked in, all most looking down her nose the being watched as i was browsing left me feeling VERY Uncomfortable

Gerry was super helpful in providing me with expert advice on purchasing new boots and other gear for a trek. Breath of fresh air dealing with someone who really knows their stuff and is approachable.

Had to order personally when I was in the shop they refused to order. Asked for photo id which does not exist in the UK

Easily the best retail experience I’ve had by far. An unfortunate set of circumstances led to me having to replace just about ALL of my kit only four days away from the biggest expedition of my life. Not only did Gerry help me find quality gear that was well within (and even below!) my budget without skimping on quality, but also did a great deal to soothe my anxieties about having lost several hundreds of pounds worth of kit. An absolute star

The two staff members who served me, one for clothes downstairs and the other for shoes upstairs were great. Really knowledgeable, gave me options and recommendations. Weren't pushy just really helpful.

Adam who served me was a helpful and friendly young man. He listened carefully to my needs, showed me some examples of what would be best. Gave great advice. I was pleased to also be encouraged to buy some of their sale items which I would otherwise have missed “ an extra charging cable is always useful!”

I've always bought boots and hiking gear in Blacks, as the staff are always so helpful and usually have practical experience too and spend time explaining things. This visit was no different! Sadly, our branch of Blacks in Leicester has closed down, so I made a special trip to Nottingham to buy some Bridgedale socks and ask for advice - the guy who served me answered all my questions, and was really helpful. They only had one pair of the ones I wanted in my size in store (which was a shame, as they were doing a buy one get one half price deal), so I tried them out on a hike the next day and they were perfect - so I bought another two pairs online (and did get the buy one, get one half price deal online too) the following day - they arrived very promptly, well packaged.

Very happy, exceptionally pleasant lady on the till directed me to what I needed, and the “buy one get one half price” offer on socks was very fair.

Amy was very kind whilst sorting my returns she said that John who was upstairs in the store was knowledgeable about the products. And he was extremely helpful I can away with a pair for f shoes and boots, the after John showed me a fabulous way to lace them

Staff is VERY knowledgeable and so nice to talk to! No pressure and brilliant advice. Just took my new walking boots for a stroll and they are amazing! Thank you

You don’t see many reviews nowadays that are positive (or entirely genuine) but I’m happy to say this one is both. Awesome customer service, John is a fantastic source of knowledge and always my first point of call when buying new gear or trying new routes - he even taught me to tie my laces properly! Rest of the team are lovely and hospitable, will be back soon!!

I was unfortunately disappointed with my experience at Blacks. The store was very messy, with sale baskets full of non-sale stock, and asking staff about this they said other stock had just made its way in. The staff had very bad product knowledge, asking what the cheapest gloves were, she responded by saying I probably know no better than you. She did try to assist me but clearly knew nothing about the stock availabile.

I bought three pairs of boots on-line, which arrived in good condition and promptly. I had to return one pair of boots, which were too big. The other two pairs were excellent. I was able to return them to the store in Nottingham City Centre. The staff were all very polite, helpful and knowledgeable. I was glad to talk to an actual shop-assistant, rather than wrangle with an on-line robot.

Excellent service at Black's, I wanted to try a pair of shoes that were end of line so they didn't have my size. James the shop assistant made the effort to bring out alternatives that would suit without being prompted rather than just saying they didn't have the particular one I asked for. As it turns out the alternatives suggested were remarkably good so I ended up buying them. Really helpful, knowledgeable and thoughtful staff. Would recommend

After contacting customer service online I was asked to return some footwear to the Nottingham store. Amy dealt with the matter (which wasn’t straightforward) with good humour, patience and a determination to sort things out. Her approach was exemplary and she is a credit to the organisation. Raa also deserves a positive mention. Her near encyclopaedic knowledge of the footwear range together with her excellent communication skills made it a pleasure to shop there. Highly recommended
