I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with Bakkalim UK.

I ordered several frozen food items along with a mangal (BBQ). The delivery arrived two days later than expected and by the time it arrived, the frozen products had completely thawed and were no longer usable.

The mangal itself arrived damaged and covered in rust. When I contacted customer service to request a return, I was told that I would have to pay the return postage myself, which would have cost approximately £13–£15 due to the size and weight of the item and mangal price is £22

I also requested a refund for the spoiled frozen food, but this was refused. As a result, I raised a dispute with my bank. After reviewing the case, my bank refunded me in full. However, when I contacted Bakkalim UK again, I was told that they would not provide a refund and that the situation was not their responsibility.

Based on my experience, the quality of customer service was very poor. Receiving spoiled food, a damaged product and then being expected to cover expensive return shipping left me extremely dissatisfied. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company.

A once regular customer who won’t be using bakkalim again.

I have used bakkalim for a few years now and get a regular product sent to me. On my last delivery they sent me a different product, not suitable for what I need it for. I tried contacting via WhatsApp where they ignored me and then I sent an email which they also ignored. Won’t be using them again. There are plenty of other companies who deliver the same product.

Zero respect towards customers.

Save yourself from the trouble and use alternatives please. Things frequently goes wrong due to the delicate nature of sending perishable goods. Customer service literally have zero respect and understanding towards customers' concerns. Some items are different than how they are described with photos on the website and they said terms and conditions that I accepted says that is okay to have variance because these are "natural and or manufactured" units. You have to chase them to get an update on your complaint. A business with zero understanding and respect of a lifetime value of a frequent customer over a disappointment less than £20 is not something worth doing business with. I was told to be transparent otherwise they might basically sue me over the fact that they have something called brand protection policy. Took literally 5 minutes to get the money back from credit card company.

Be very careful, you order at your own risk

Like everybody else here I regret not reading the reviews prior to ordering.
I could identify only a couple of positives:
- the choice of products is very large
- most cheese and yoghurt are good quality

The negatives are plenty:
- the website is cheaply made making it difficult to navigate, find details about products or build up a basket that doesn't delete your items in a few hours
- most of the explanations are written in Turkish so unless you are one of their own then you won't understand anything
- I was called 5 times by one of their members of team and when I finally got the call I was told in a very broken English that they wanted to replace an item they didn't have. I agreed with that but was very difficult to understand so couldn't tell what I was going to receive
- the delivery box had a note stating "Deliver today" on it but arrived 5days later. They use DHL and there was no way to get in touch with them and find why and where the parcel was
- considering the delivery took 5days, all the frozen products were ruined and turned into a paste
- the 'baked on the day' products were of course stale by the time they arrived
- I left them a message through their website and was completely ignored. I did not ask for a refund but an acknowledgment would've showed at least minimum respect towards customers
- some of the products I ordered had questionable quality, for example the baklavas were cheaply made

Why is that hard to improve the customer service and treat customers with more respect?

Made my shopping here and I’m very pleased with both the prices and the service provided. The staff were friendly, helpful, and everything was well organised. There was a very good variety of products, prices were fair, and the overall shopping experience was smooth and enjoyable. Delivery/service was reliable and exactly as expected. I would definitely recommend this place to others and will be shopping here again. Very satisfied with the quality and professionalism from start to finish 👍⭐🛒

5 star experience from the minute I…

5 star experience from the minute I ordered till the minute it arrived- also it took 1 business day I ordered the day before in the morning before 11, I am impressed and can’t wait to have a good breakfast with all my favourites🤍❤️🤍❤️

Terrible

I used this place few times last time was beginning of the year after a bad experience I stopped using them but I wanted to give them another chance but they haven't improved theirselves a bit.
They have sent me 2 wrong products when I asked for refund for wrong irm they were asking me to destroy food and record it and send it to them. What kind of joke is that?

They use dhl for deliveries which never deliveries next day and all cold products getting ruined.

Never again.

Customer service is beyond joke.

I will not be using their services again

My order included frozen products. However, when the package arrived, the items had thawed and were leaking. Additionally, the packaging of the simit I ordered was torn.

When I contacted the company about this issue, I was told that they do not guarantee frozen delivery for frozen items. As for the simit, they said they would initiate a return process and get back to me, but I never received any follow-up.

I also did some research on their website regarding the frozen delivery policy. There is no information about this during the product selection, at checkout, in the delivery information section, or even in the return policy. Apparently, this important detail is hidden in an unrelated section of the website, which is unreasonable—customers should not be expected to dig through the website to find such critical information.

If a company sells frozen food, it should be delivered in a properly frozen condition or at the very least, customers should be clearly informed about any limitations during the purchase process.

This experience was highly disappointing, and I will not be using their services again.

Very bad experience with Bakkalim UK – missing and broken items, no proper refund

I’ve been ordering from Bakkalim UK for a long time since I moved to the UK. Sometimes they sent wrong brands or missed small items, but I didn’t complain because they were only worth a few pounds. But my last order was a big disappointment.

They shipped my order with DHL. When I opened the box, there was a strong pickle smell. One jar of pickles was missing, and the jam jar was broken. It looked okay outside, but when I opened it, jam spilled everywhere. Fragile items like biscuits were placed at the bottom of the box, which was very careless.
I contacted them through WhatsApp. They asked me if I had a video of opening the box — which I didn’t, because who normally records that? I told them they charged me for items I didn’t receive. They blamed DHL and said the packaging was changed during transport. But I paid Bakkalim, not DHL — they are responsible.
They said they would investigate and refund me. After 10 days, nothing happened. I contacted them again, and they said the money was sent. I checked my account — nothing. Then they said their IT team would fix it manually. Still, no refund.

They took my money, didn’t deliver everything, and then wasted my time with excuses. It feels like they think customers are stupid. I will never buy from them again, and I don’t recommend anyone else to trust them.

I placed my order on Saturday with…

I placed my order on Saturday with bakkalim and because was weekend did not taken to account till Monday which is very understandable. On Monday i received e-mail saying that was collected by DHL and will be delivered next day. On Tuesday i received e-mail saying will be delivered between 17:16-18:16 and i didn’t contact bakkalim regarding my order before 16:00 due to delivery time and las minute my order got cancelled and wednesday morning received e-mail saying that will be delivered by noon time. All my fridge items and frozen items were delivered in a room temperature and when i made complaint they told me that i didn’t contact them on the delivery day and they wouldn’t return any money except only one product as they can’t quarantee that will be delivered frozen. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone and don’t have high expectations.

Londra’ya yeni yerleştim ve…

Londra’ya yeni yerleştim ve kendilerinden üç kez alışveriş yaptım. Diğer ikisinde küçük pürüzler oldu ve kendilerine ilettiğimde sorunu hakkaniyetli olarak anında çözdüler. Üçüncü alışverişimde sorun yaşamamak adına özellikle belirttim daha önceki siparişlerdeki pürüzleri ve sağolsunlar son alışverişimde hiçbir sorun yaşamadım, kendilerine de memnuniyetimi ilettim. Türk ürünlerini kapımda hızlı ve güvenli bir şekilde bulmak mutlu ediyor, umarım aynı memnuniyetle alışverişime devam ederim, teşekkürler verdikleri hizmet için.

They sent bug-infested rice and don’t refund money!

They sent bug-infested rice. I sent them my request for a refund together with the video recording of the product and they shipped the same product again without informing me. I again informed them that I did not want this buggy product and wanted a refund.

First they made up something called "return limit". A £20 product was over the return limit!
I said them this is nonsense and reiterated that I wanted to use my right to return.

This time they started to say "legal procedure" to everything for getting away. They do this only to deter people who do not know their legal rights.

I was also told to destroy the product and record a video. I supposed to put it in a bag and pour washing-up liquid over it. What a procedure! Isn't that scientific?!!!

All this is just a way to deter people!

A company that deliberately gives false information to its customers in order not to refund money. Don't buy from them! They are trying to make money by lying and selling defective products!

Terrible experience

Like many people here, I am kicking myself for not reading the reviews now before placing my order. They refunded my money after deducting the shipping fee for the product they couldn't deliver because it was out of stock. Their customer service is terrible. if you want healthy mental, must’nt shop with them even if they give it away for free.

Legal procedure :)

One of the most ridiculous companies I shop with. They sent 25 pieces of products I bought in one go with two separate parcels with the same company on different days. The second parcel was damaged. I sent this to them with photos and videos. Then they said there was something called the destruction procedure. And they asked me to do ridiculous things to ensure the return of five trousers. When he asked why, he said it was a legal procedure. When I asked for a document of this legal procedure, they said that there was a secret agreement between them and the cargo company. I do not recommend shopping
