Both women staff Amanda branch manager and another plus size officer exaggerated and lied continuously with no evidence even after we proved the call logs and our stand on U turn. They claimed we made illegal U turn and it’s classified as criminal offence. Wow. There was no road sign of No U Turn at all and this buggers think we want to risk our lives including other road users. What a joke. And they made police report just over this matter. It’s more like they think we are going to steal their cars when we are just tourists. How stupid are their actions. Never go for cheap deals anymore. Very unprofessional and deceiving. This company is a total mess and their ‘Fantastic reputation’ can be seen all over the internet.

Had a great experience, We didn't damage car so no CDW worries as some crash dummies claim..
Always read CDW conditions carefully because roof damage is clearly never covered (same as are windscreens}.

We have used Apex Cairns for both long,4 months, and short term, 3 days, car hire numerous times over the last 6 years and will book again for 2020. Great vehicles, great service at a very competitive price. APEX really is the best deal on offer in Far North Queensland. 5 Star no problem.

We had two bookings, one in Cairns, the second pick up in Brisbane with drop off in Sydney centre. Easy to book, good communication and great value with no extra payment for dropping off in another destination. All staff were efficient and friendly. Both cars were absolutely fine with no problems whatsoever. We will be using Apex again for next trip and we highly recommend!

Haven't driven the car yet but had to amend a booking. The service from Lizzie and Regan in Perth WA has been excellent. Very caring and helpful. My son picks up the hire car on Saturday and I have no doubt they to will be happy with the car and service. Regards Sue O'Connor

Fantastic service. From booking online to picking up the car and drop off. Price was very cheap and included zero excess at no extra charge and no bond or deposit. After reading previous reviews i was a little worried, but on a budget couldnt afford to be fussy. I must say, my expectations were far exceeded, very easy shuttle service to and from melbourne airport, contract was easy and we were given a beautiful car with only 74,000 kms, of course it had scrapes and bumps, (like any hire car). Our 5 day trip was made so much easier and had no troubles at all. Would absolutely be my first choice for car rental in the future. Very very impressed

Used this company twice on a recent holiday. First at Cairns, where there were no problems at all. Secondly at Adelaide, where the car we were due to have, proved too small. The staff there were extremely helpful and despite a shortage of available larger vehicles, managed to quickly clean and provide us with one, at no extra cost. Full marks to them! Apex are best for price because they don't have airport desks. No problem though as they pick you up and it's only a short hop to their depots.

Bad customer service. There was a speeding ticket and they advised not to pay for it. But something wasn't right when notices were sent to me several times. When I called apex, they just said it is simply in the contract. Like the contract was 20 pages long. Is it so difficult to highlight to the customer? This is utterly ridiculous. My first and last time renting car with Apex. Their customer service are so rude, not helpful at all. After-sales service sucks. DO NOT RENT CARS FROM APEX

Amazing costumer service! We rented a car in Perth, not being aware of the driving restrictions in WA. Apex was so friendly and tried practically everything in order to find a solution, but unfortunately without luck. When we finally ended canceling the rental, they charged us no fee at all.

Very Accommodating, fast , chill, easy and no worries. They are very good in handling customers. I love it.

I had absolutely no problems with my 3-week rental. The car had quite a few little minor scuffs and scratches on the body, which I prefer as this means they don't repaint it (at the clients expense) for every tiny scratch. Otherwise the car was in excellent condition.

Instead of the usual "existing damage" diagram, the attendant just took a lot of photos of the car before the rental. I didn't feel entirely comfortable about this as I had no way of knowing or remembering what the existing damages were but there were no issues on returning the car and I was perfectly happy with my rental experience.

One of the, if not the cheapest car rentals. Booked a car in Melbourne and Gold coast with absolutely no hassles. So sneaky additional charges like underage/extra drivers either. Customer service was great and helpful. Cars were in good condition. Drop off was easy and quick. All in all would recommend.

Avoid Apex!!! Why? Because Apex will interpret its CDW to make sure that Apex not only takes your CDW money, and will then slap you the repair cost.

We rented a van in Christchurch and on the first night in NZ, in the dark, we damaged the roof while entering into a underground garage.

We were told we were liable for over $8000 repair damage, beyond the $2000 limit had we not purchased CDW.

So save your potential heart burn and there are other choices!

i book a car with apex on 21 feb to 28 feb.they charge me a after hour pick up which is fair because i will be arriving bisbane around midnight.my plan is arrive in bisbane collect my rental car and drive to gold coast for my hotel as i have already book a hotel but to to a error between andrew parking and apex i was told apex didnt deliver the car to andrew parking so was stuck in bisbane airport for 8hours till the next morning waiting for apex office to open.they say they will refund me the after hours charges but till now they didnt bother to reply my email.think twice before booking with apex with so may bad reviews around.

Rented Apex car Feb 2018 from Launceston Tasmania to Hobart. This was the best car rental experience I've ever had. The paperwork in Launceston took only a few minutes and then they fetched the car for us as it was raining. They checked the car and took photos also noting that the car was wet so thorough inspection difficult. Within 10 minutes we were on our way. On arrival at Hobart a charming girl met us straight away, within a couple of minutes the check-in paperwork was finished and she took us to the airport terminal in the rental car so we did not have to transfer our luggage. Altogether a pleasant stress free experience. We have 2 more rentals with Apex during our holiday to Australia, so hopefully 2 more good reviews.

We decided to book with APEX because we figured as a local company they would be a good choice and possible more affordable over the international companies. - How wrong we were.

we arrived at 1am in Auckland, and had reserved our car, and had the instructions from APEX for after hours pickup, which is offsite at the long term car park.
My wife, 2 kids, a number of bags, 1am - go to the offsite lot - NO CAR, sure they had the booking but forgot to leave the car.

Now I have to go back to the terminal, a wife, 2 kids, bags after a long flight, its 2.30am ish, domestic terminal closed, only Thrifty (no cars), Europecar (who wanted $180 per day) and Avis are open at the international terminal.
We book an avis car, its $300 more expensive than our APEX booking - but at least they have a car.

APEX pass my information onto their Auckland Airport Manager (Damion) who we never hear from.

When I go back to NZ, stay with the big guys (Avis, Hertz, Thrifty etc), at least they wont leave you stranded and more often than not followup with the customer. Avoid APEX...

I am surprised to see all the bad review. booked a rental car online with Apex on our trip in Melbourne. From the easy online booking system to the shuttle pick up to getting the car and the returns process, all was great.
Even upon our return back to the airport, my husband accidentally left his cell phone in the shuttle van. we called up back the receptionist and she had the driver check the passenger seat and had it return to us.

So far though, it's 5 stars from me.

Regarding Tullamarine Melbourne airport, it is very annoying when leaving the terminal at 4:30 PM or later. No shuttles available to take you to the car rental office and you need to take a Taxi. If there are no taxis, Apex closes at 5:00 PM and you have no car. What's the point when you can walk over to Europcar, Avis, Budget or Hertz from the terminal.

Is there a zero rating??? This experience almost ruined our entire holiday. Our family of 5 arrived after hours and rang the number for the shuttle. The shuttle arrived and the driver got out and went and spoke to another shuttle driver. We didn't know if this shuttle was for us or not, as it was an after hours company and there was no insignia on the shuttle. Eventually we went over to the driver and asked and he said yes his shuttle was the one we were waiting for. He carried on talking and we climbed on board. He carried on talking for another 5 minutes or more, so I decided to ask him if we were waiting on others. From this moment on, this man turned septic. He was the rudest man with the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My children are in their twenties and they were frightened that he was taking us to do away with us. He had the motorbike gang bandido tattoo which made us even more wary. We asked where he was taking us as by this time it was dark, and he wouldn't tell us. If you have any sense never use Apex rentals. This experience was September 2016, and I have come across this forum, as I am booking another trip, but certainly NOT with Apex. Having said that we have just rented a car from Apex at Auckland airport and we couldn't fault it, but they certainly have a lot of work to do in Coolangatta.

We rented twice from Apex, in Melbourne and in Brisbane to go up to Noosa and the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. Both experiences were the best we have ever had with a car rental company. Everyone was friendly, took time to explain how to work the devices in the car, and even where to get cheap gas close by to avoid and expensive surcharge when we returned with a tank 3/4 full. (They also held the shuttle for us.)
